I suggest seeing a specialist ,his desire to eat things may be associated behaviour.

3 yr cost no more than the others i would be asking your vet why there charging more & most that have is to make the owners at that moment say give me the cheaper one . We do 3 yr or titer & we accept both in the kennels . Not all brands do 3 year . As a boarding kennel owner the mind boggles at the number of vet clinics that can't get it write especially the date of when the next triennial is due . Some have listed 3 year on brands that arent which we have had to point out to clients as they have pet insurance that wont cover an illness due to the clinics stupidity .

You have to be your dogs advocate at appointments. Yes sometimes we can over think it or look at the worse and a good vet clinic is there to listen and give you the reality answer . Its hard these days to find clinics that don’t have a vet turn over like you change your undies . Luckily for us we see clinics ( we have 3 we use) that are independently owned . The 3 offer some skills that each other don’t so

I would buy sports witches hats or cones . Set up in the front garden and start doing weaving ,walking to a station (aka cone) asking for a task /trick then back inside. Walking out the door I have never taught the let me out first stuff but my dogs are taught before going out the gate or door to acknowledge me as more fun . With puppies I often take my chair and just sit out the front ,we live on a quite street but it’s about me and chilling . My puppies carry there teddies when learning to walk that’s there job . My guys are showdogs so I don’t want pulling nor do I want a Velcro heel,I want attitude and carriage in the ring but there 30/40 kg and I will not be dragged around . My dogs are taught I’m more Interesting than the world

Need help with Older dog since new puppy came along
Dogsfevr replied to AlisonO's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is the issue walks with the pup ?? If yes have you tried the same walk without pup to see if the behaviour still happens?? The other questions asked above can also be a big factor -
Kangaroo, finely ground kangaroo bone, kangaroo heart, kangaroo liver, kangaroo kidney, seasonal fruits, vege & herbs (kale, spinach, broccoli, bok choy, silver beet, carrots, celery, beetroot, lettuce, cucumber, capsicum, apple, orange, pear, tomato, strawberry, ginger & parsley), cold pressed ground flaxseed, whole egg, alfalfa powder, kelp powder (brown seaweed), brewers yeast, wheatgrass, live probiotics, prebiotics, garlic. Bone is clearly listed & is a main ingredient in any complete raw meal that is what raw is about ,so what ever pre made RAW diet you buy it will always have a bone component . The issue is dogs that arent use to bones often dont have the stomach juices to process them & with older geriatic dogs if not use to them another issue again Bone will pass out when they poop,my dog gets Turkey wings Bone can make some dogs poo harder comes out white . My suggestion to you is stick to something with his allergies issue otherwise you going to end up all over the place deciding which protein is an issue & with the SPD rolls the all have different things . As a side note we stopped using Prime100 due to there rice never been cooked right & very sharp in there Chicken & vege ingredient . You would be better making up your own homemade raw patties & freezing

I thought you where getting a Brittany ,you posted nearly 4 weeks ago you where collecting it around know . In Qld up to $4500. Common price $3000 plus $2000 is cheap and Minis haven’t been around that price in general for many years . Most Qld breeders with DogsQld upped there prices as they have to do DNA for parentage before breeding

Help with Maremma male 12 months
Dogsfevr replied to Farmyfamof7's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
As your buying another Maremma surely you have spoken to that breeder about the situation with your male and I gather they are raising there pups too be working animals so should be able to give you sound advice . If this breeder isn’t able to offer advice I would be worried about getting a pup -
There are numerous breeders of Minis in Queensland. Make sure they health test there breeding stock. Sadly the breed is being over run with fly by night breeders in for the fast dollar . Qld has the highest turn around for pups and the prices are higher than most states . my advice to your daughter do her homework and be prepared to wait .

Very few pure ones left sad when there crossed with anything like they where when already a good working animal

Price sounds very reasonable . Ask questions about the dogs. Whether show or performance breed or even a breed er who uses the word Boutique breeder to make them sound "special " ask questions. Asking about the above will give you a better understanding of what they breed for & potentially the drive of the dogs they bred. Not all breeding dogs will have shown or competed ,doesn't mean there any lesser .A lovely plain bitch for example(show folk use it in a good term) may not be a show winner but tick all the boxes to still be a great animal in a breeding programmer. The same will apply to a working dog by asking questions like this you get more dialogue from the breeder & a feel for there dogs & there reason for breeding . First off health testing ,before finally committing ask to see them. Are they registered & with which organization.

I would discuss with the vet Rick eating and his skin issues . i have a dog who suddenly at 4 yrs started to eat gravel, same dog has also just been diagnosed with Thyroid issues

I’m not a fan of sedation because they still have the same feelings and experience but can panic more as they don’t have control of there body . What did the groomer do exactly that has made him this way ?
-
All breeds shed ,those considered more suitable shed differently but all will need to visit a dog groomer . Allergies can vary and for most it’s the dander or coat texture . im not allergic to dogs but react to Shar Peis ,Basenjis and some Am Staffs . some breeds considered more successful Schnauzers ,Poodles,Portuguese Water Dog ,Soft Coated Wheaton,Bedlington ,Kerry Blue ,Bichon Frise ,Lowchen,Havanese ,,Lagotto ,Black Russian and other breeds . We have had people allergic to our Mini Schnauzers but not Poodles and vice versa. The Havanese ,Tibetan Terrier ( not a Terrier) Shih Tzu are good choices . the Tibetan Terrier is a fab all round dog

Eye sight loss can alter a dog’s confidence bigtime . Do you leave a light on at night . Here we have the motion sensor lights for inside in certain areas. Helps with our oldies . If her eye sight is going set her up for success now ,it’s simple things like her learning her house road map again ,be her her eyes and be her confidence
-
You answered your own question ,you dont want one especially yet & that is perfectly fine . Night time would be a case of everyones gone & she still finding her new normal . Adapt a routine that will work for when you go back to work & start now .

I think the first obvious issue you have is he places more value on other dogs than than humans .The other dogs & the park come with no strings attached & he can do what he wants with no expectations . Im trying to help an owner whose dog i help show at times who decided when her pup was young to ditch lead walks & go across the road to the offleash park. Dog is now a feral 30 kg pain in the arse who missed out on crucial lead training manners ,values other dogs more than humans ,is pawing & barking due to frustrations as he has no clue what the humans actually want from him & they blame the breed for "you know those breeds traits " ( i own the same breed)He is insanely bright, loves learning but has been taught the exact behaviour they allowed & at the park he did what he wanted & when home time had to be caught to leave. When he goes to the dog park how do you get there ?? Walk or car drive ? You say hes a happy dog at the park & i would suggest that is due to the value he places on the other dogs compared to walks & trust with you or his humans . He doesn't need to the park to to be athletic he needs some relationship building exercises for humans & him .You say he barks if he doesn't get his way No hes most likely vocalizing at his lack of confidence in what he should be doing I would take away the mindset terrier, fiesty, stubborn etc etc .These are the words owners use when things arent working it becomes an easy "reason". This is simply a dog that may require some various techniques to be used that are the right fit for him but above all finding the right techniques for the humans to maybe not miscommuncate or give conflicting expectations

Help with our new dog :(
Dogsfevr replied to Rosiex's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
would suggest sending her back ,it sounds like your not the right fit for each other .It also sounds like your expectations are for an instant perfect dog without the work . It can up to 3 months for an older dog to feel like it "Fits in" but you all need to be prepared to make the effort for this happen . I think you need to take a step back in your thought process when you say "she doesnt listen to when we tell her off the couch " she most has no clue what your asking but your expectations & most likely reaction is confusing for the dog . This is like taking on a new employee thats never done the job before & saying "just do it right " when never been trained to do it at all . Older dogs rescue or not arent easier they come with the same amount of work as you need to retrain them to your household expectations . -

Dogs can still fly or with an agent cross the border by road -
It could very well be a case of your dog having a chicken allergy . I have a dog with chicken allergy and its no fun but once we found the right fit no issues ever from it no testing & no meds . My chicken dog is fine with Turkey . Whilst im not a promoter of grain free diets unless the dog has a very rare grain issue my boy is feed grain free Taste of the Wild Pacific stream as it was one of the very few total chicken free dry food he can eat As most are fish based he got the runs on a few of the others. Luckily i just make up in other areas the healthy grain options . Goat is a good meat. Just make sure you follow the limited roll rule ,no more than 6 weeks feeding if I’m correct as the idea of the roll when sourcing food allergy is you can go back too it .
