Show dogs aren't taught not to sit .like i said in my previous post my ES aren't a sitting breed they stand or lay & you have said "sometimes" sits . Its the breed but it doesn't mean they can't sit its just not for them,i find with my Setters standing & drop is natural because in the field that is what they do . I have owned a GSD & yep training the two is like chalk & cheese ,your GSD will do anything to please ,you peeve and English Setter off & it will make a meal of you & the battle will begin .like i say there all about "why" so "why " should i sit & if there is no real reason to do it they won't . What you need to do is reward when he sits in his day to day life & make him realize that makes you excited.

My best advice is to make sure your dog is well exposed to noise and the outside world, the Royal can be very overwhelming for puppies with the noise around especially when leaving and having to go through part of side show alley and the rides . Lunch I would buy but take drinks. You don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to ,you can take a book and read whilst your dog sits in its crate
-
Personally if it's just because the vet said I wouldn't be worried ,not sure why the vet would want a dog to sit anyway. ES think differently and have the attitude of why but they are good learners when the process engages them .They can certainly make it hard if the process doesn't seem right to them Show dog or not they can sit ,my old ES isn't a fan of sitting but loves down,I don't teach sit but always teach drop but for vet visits I good stand is a blessing , Does the dog regularly sit when not asked or is he a stand and down type of dog?

There is only one person who has Welsh in Perth but she no longer breeds them ,you will have to go east

Unless it's one run to specifically teach the right manners into adulthood then a total waste ,far to many are free for alls and run by unqualified people .Puppies need to learn that seeing another dog means it's entitled to play, teaching self control and focus amongst a crowd is far more important ,good dog manners sets up a pup for life You can tell the owners who have been to a free for all puppy school as they often struggle to control there dog when getting older.Puppy school should be about teaching adult values and behaviour not about researching the dog bad habits taught at free for alls

This is something you & the other party need to discuss ,co ownership agreements are a very personal thing .Ideally this should be all sorted before you even start the process especially with an import . I have co owned 17 dogs but i wouldn't bring an import co owned
-
Have you discussed this with the co owner ? I would be going to a repo vet for a second opinion

This is an area that suddenly everyone wants to be involved with so i would be asking Why would someone trust you with there dog . What skills do you have? Why does this career appeal to you ? What sort of dogs do you have experience with ?? Do you want to do at home sitting or in peoples own homes?? And yes insurance is a must .

Dont buy anything lead wise until you have the pup & know its size & what best fits it ,your breeder will tell you what she has trained the pup on,Personally i hate harnesses they teach bad lead manners & increase skeletal injuries . As for training he will be old enough to attend an obedience club at 12 weeks on so just go & do that teaching a boisterous Boxer the right manners from early on is more important than free for all puppy classes . Well hopefully you had the terms in writing . But the stud owner has nothing to do with costs of whelping ,that is the risk the owner takes when breeding .You don't make money out of breeding . As to a pup in return for a stud fee thats a risk in itself that we would never do,We always pay a stud fee with an option to first or second pick if we are happy with the pups & there are enough pups
-
As all of the above especially the gaining speed running & stopping . I too would start with a 5 mtr that you have full control over & not encourage complete bad manners on a leash

Had a bitch who always silient seasoned, she came in everu 8 months,no swelling etc etc but the dog instantly new & we found her seasons to be very short & she had to be mated from the moment the dogs said yep ,after many misses she did have 3 litters one small two huge ,prog testes weren't always helpful due to the limited time she was in .

Would You Take A Dog To The Groomer In 41 Degree Heat?
Dogsfevr replied to megan_'s topic in General Dog Discussion
Blow drying the dog won't be an issue ,they aren't hot like human dryers & dog dryers have the option of turning heat on . Chances are if you cancel at such short notice don't expect the groomer to fit you in especially when other people would be desperate for that spot ,its summer hot days will always be an issue . -
Providing there used correctly ,there not designed to just be left on . Dogs pant thats how they cool themselves down . I have cool coats but there not left on & i only use them at dog shows never at home

New Puppy A Christmas Gift Even When Still At Breeders ?
Dogsfevr replied to Dewclaws's topic in General Dog Discussion
As a breeder we don't take on toys / blankets & treats . It ends up more work because puppies will be puppies & we generally use toys we now are suitable for all ,can be washed easy & not fall apart in the machine because pups are grubs and you are forever washing stuff daily . You now what why not when you pick pup up give them a small token of your appreciation for all the time & effort they have put in over Christmas & the New Year ,pups put a hold on your celebrations ,as its non stop washing.cleaning, training & keeping cool -
Already watched it all ,its a yearly show ,originally the Eukanuba World Challenge was held there & they videoed breed judging. I spent my weekend watch it live plus the Amsterdam show . Love the live streams

Smaller dog & different reason but it took 6 months of rehab before my dog could walk again ,luckily was in an easier position of picking up etc etc but keeping the muscles from wasting was the hardest thing . Whilst my dog hated the trolley for his rears legs maybe with discussions for those more offay with giant breeds a trolley may help in getting the front going . But i will tell you now it was very hard work, with very slow results,we had no life during this time & was for ever grateful we worked from home because we could not have done it otherwise & we had to put many things on hold until he passed as even though he had mobility he was still a part time care dog who had to adapt life big time so mentally we had to help change his life The dogs will to succeed makes a massive difference . I will say the vet specialist centre who stuffed up resulting in my dog walking in but not being able to walk out where off no help & suggested PTS & replacing it as its just a dog . I don't think i would ever go through it again

Flies, How Do I Get Them To Leave My Dog Alone?
Dogsfevr replied to Casima's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
For boarders who come in with fly bitten ears we apply heavy zinc cream white found this to work the best in healing & stopping the flies nibbling more. For products we shop at horse or stock feeds, there is one products that everyone says works well & starts with a N i think it is , stock feeds often have stable washes that also repel flies so you can spray around the area . -
Generally judges just run the fingers through like most flat faced breeds ,they don't mouth them like a normal dog but i would still teach it mouthing for general care. Small steps is all that is needed ,place puppy on a table & just touch the face no mouthing ,then start running a finger through the mouth ,a few weeks time you can try lifting the folds up BUT always do it on a table at present . I always mouth my puppies in the bath tub quickly no fuss . Keep in mind pup is teething & some teeth badly & hate there mouths being touched hence the don't over do it ,just go through a routine . Stack training i always do on the table anyway because its easier on the back & easier to work with puppies than crawling around the floor plus it teaches them table manners for grooming & washing there folds in there faces . What i would suggest at present is if your mouthing technique isn't working it could be how your doing it so sometimes your better stopping & get someone to make sure your doing it right than to teach bad behaviour at this crucial age I would stop everyone trying to pat his head ,dogs will follow your hand because they have no idea what you are doing once your hand leaves there vision & then people get unsure & pull t here hand away & the dogs think its either a game or your unsure . Patting any dogs head is incorrect handling anyway .Something we have to stress often with our breed as it has eye brows & people for some reason insist on banging there head Allow puppy to see your hand & pat under the chin ,
-
i agree medical rule out here so we would use a chiro but also the method you use may be a factor . Do you pick up under the arm pits?? Instead of picking up can you not let him follow you ?/Carrying puppy out all the time to toilet is a bad habit anyway unless there is a valid reason. Poms are hardy dogs & being a spitz breed stubborn.self willed & not always the cuddly. You have said pup thinks its a game so chances are it is but the game it thinks it is isn't ending the way it wants. Do you use treats to encourage puppy to come or do you always corner it ?? Generally just squatting down calling pup especiaally little puppies makes them feel more confifient that the giant isn't going to get them , I gather your brushing the dog so that touch time should be enjoyable remember puppy has four legs so let pup use them
