  1. Maybe look at the flip side that your puppy was already in trouble & these kids saw it & thought flashing there light would alert someone . What ever the scenario was your are lucky it happened whilst you where home
  2. So when hes in the kennels he never gets on grass??
  3. I would use Bowen over a chiro any day & i have used both. Bowen especially for the dog in question
  4. Any pet sitter that thinks letting a strangers dog offleash would make me cringe ,how truly irresponsible . There are plenty of kennels ,main thing is go and inspect
  5. I wouldn't & not a Bulldog puppy ,i think there wonderful dogs & love them dearly BUT from involvement with friends who breed & show them also appreciate how stubborn, trying & testing they can be & that a Bulldog with no manners is like a bull charging through especially when around 1 You have a dog at home that currently ticks all your boxes ,you have plenty of time in years to come to get a puppy & a puppy when bub 1 can enjoy being part of it .
  6. Not for the average pet owner either .i guess thankgod shes spayed so no numpty can cross breed
  7. One thing i find with many old dogs is they DON"T always now there limit, they love going out so i always pay attention to how it affects them for the rest of the day IE does it take a toll on them afterwards ,are they to worn out for the rest of the day & look sore getting up/down. My 12 yr old does alot of self exercise as we have a big property ,i take him for a short walk each night because he enjoys getting out of the house but lead walking takes a bigger toll on him so its more a mental enjoyment,we also will go for a car ride if the weather is bad because he just likes getting out & its a good alternative when required .
  8. We tell all our puppy owners not to take time off because its often harder for them to cope when you do go to work so first advice is don't go over the top in the time you spend because that routine wont be happening . Don't spoil pup whilst home Set it up fur success for when you go back to work so that will mean teaching it the area it will be in & leaving it alone to learn .not pandering to pup if it cries . Toilet training will still be the go outside first and foremost method but the pads will be there for the time its shut up.The main thing will be to encourage the outside . We tell our puppy owners to not over read stuff, puppy raising isn't that hard, just use common sense & remember no matter how cute your pup is it is a dog & setting up now for success is so important. So the manners you want from an adult you encourage now . Brushing can't stress how important it is to teach your pup that being groomed is a pleasure, your breeder should show you how to brush your puppy & what tools to use
  9. I wouldn't recommend those breeds to anyone who is not prepared to put alot of work in. If you believe you have the time to do that they could be great but if time is an issue then i would not bother .They are powerful, very smart & need alot of mental stimulation otherwise a nightmare to live with through no fault of there own I gather your kids have friends that come around so also keep in mind the dog you pick needs to be trained for little friends or you have an area set up that is dog safe /child safe .I am not saying those breeds aren't child friendly because they are but breeds often wanting to protect there family require good training in understanding visitors at home are fine . Of the ones you have listed the Giant will have less coat work, the other two will also require dedication to grooming & all 3 will require adding the expense of grooming salon visits. I have shown Airedales for years i think they are great dogs you can't do alot of the grooming yourself ,whether people would be scared by them who knows but for the short period you want an intimidating dog the rest of the time it needs to be a wonderful family pet that will fit in the car & go out with you so also factor in your car size & if a large breed would fit
  10. If you over mix no amount of rinsing will wash the purple colour out & each dog & coat absorbs it differently ,legs can take a stronger strength than often the body but again depends on the coat . I never apply whitening shampoo to a dry coat ,it is done whilst wet & left on for the allocated time or the time that suits that dog . Some shampoos can make the coat go yellow/dirty if used to much . Green dishwashing detergent works a treat on legs & velvet soap & i will do this as a pre clean before a whitening product is applied but yes it can be drying so a good conditioner must be used . White vinegar added to a shampoo works great too . Also stripping the dead coat on the legs ,most people never do but that short coat is often dead & needs removing leaving a stunning white underneath
  11. What treats does your dog get ,often the issue isn't just the main meal but all the other stuff they give on top of the meal. Pigs ears, bones ,treats etc etc
  12. She isn't giving you signals because she doesn't have to nor been train to ,she doesn't now what is expected . Most dogs are very proud & clean so convincing a dog that toileting in the house is right is hard . At her age she should be trained & in a good toilet routine but the issue you have is she has no routine of "where" should toilet . So what is your long term plan, Dog will always be required to toilet inside? Dog will have access outside & expected to go outside . At present when you are home what is her toilet routine ,do you make her go inside or do you take her outside . Where does she sleep at night & is she clean over night ? You have to realize at present you have taught her the house is for toileting in that is her yard & you need to decide what routine you want & yep you will have to be patient & watch & re enforce . Chances are in her room she wants to be clean & not toilet in her "space" so the rest of the house is for the loo because she has no idea about going outside . If you want to use the grass loos then teaching her to toilet on grass becomes more normal & friends buy proper turf & place it in a tray because its normal like the dogs yard .
  13. They are great dogs, got to play with two show Picards whilst i was in the US a few weeks back
  14. Have you asked the dog walkers how she is on walks, personally i wouldn't be handing my 3 month old to strangers to walk plus with her age she shouldn't be doing alot of walking . Is she cold at night & just simply isn't interested in going out , How does she intercat in the backyard at night ?/
  15. The main tip is selecting the right dog for the day ,im not talking about a robot but a dog that is happy to stand in a line for a long period of time, can do all exercises required for the age bracket & making sure you listen & can do the exercises required . Alot will also depend on the level of skill said child has , Parents shouldn't place any pressure about the day ,its just another handlers comp in the end & if the child is happy with there dog selection then the rest is just down to team work & what the judge is looking for which is what is in the rule book .
  16. You run a bigger risk of bringing parvo home on your shoes . Personally a park would be the last place i would take a puppy to train due to the idiots with bad mannered dogs. You can be doing training out the front of your house & in your area, short walks, learning about cars, trucks & buses going past & anything else the outside world can deliver ,noises etc etc. As mentioned puppy pre schools at vets are a higher risk than most places as they don't clean there carparks etc etc so if they have an affected dog most owners have no idea & just walk them in . Your pup is old enough to go to big dog obedience school
  17. Why do they put up such crappy photo's that don't allow you to see the dog for what it is , I agree training is not breed based ,appreciating what type of dog you are getting & whether you can cater for its needs is a bigger issues.
  18. This sounds rather suss ,the contacts numbers are overseas & the info on the website is all about money making
  19. There is no simple answer , no rule fits every dog .what one made add is based on to many variables than a simple yes/no . If i was feeding a good raw diet then i shouldn't have to be adding to it
  20. nope,we tell our puppy owners not to & its at there own risk & certainly wouldn't give it to a puppy . It also costs big dollars . We no longer heartworm treat as the risk is small compared to the chemicals but i appreciate some areas you can't risk it,when we did heartworm we did daily & still would do daily although we did do liquid for a number of years .
