Have to agree way to much in one day . As a groomer & someone who owns very heavily coated breeds i don't get why people insist on bribing there dogs to be groomed ,dogs don't need pigs ears, food giving or stuff placed on a wall . The dogs don't look at it as a good experience but a routine & grooming a dog that is chomping away on a pigs ear doesn't teach good grooming manners , Some might shoot me for this, but although we see relatively few Lagottos in the salons, I have to say, most of them come with fears, phobias, anxiety and aggression of different levels. I won't shot you we see the same . Do you brush your dog on a table or bench whilst its eating??

We don't bribe ours or teach them to expect a routine ,The simple fact is we need to leave & they need to stay home alone so they are taught from day 1 ,barking is not accepted on returning , We live in an area where known of this matters but the dogs knowing the routine makes life better for them ,we work from home so the dogs are use to alot of human company but they also know that being alone is a must , Would it annoy me yes & as i travel with the dogs i have to set them up for success & not be stressed

Don't clip there is no need to remove the hair with a hot spot ,the hair regrowing just annoys the dog again & they will lick . It is very easy to treat a coated breed even easier a short coat . I would vet wrap to try & minimize the licking ,keeping it dry is a must BUT we have also used neocort at times to give the dog some relief but we didn't do it everyday . We use the medi puff powder for drying but if you want to use an ointment dermotic for ears works a treat for nasty hot spots & tricin for eyes/ears

I am a groomer & can i say the worse issue we have is what people ask for ,there idea of terminology & what a groomers is can end in tears . We always question what is asked even though many get annoyed that you do ask . I can't tell you how many have asked this week for a short back & sides or nice a short for summer . To a groomer that means all off, some will ask if thats what they mean others will do what the clients ask for . I can also tell hubby will often say the opposite to wife & grandparents generally say exactly what the owners don't want so we have had to ring to confirm what they want or grandparents come with a knot that often in a groomers worl means off . There is no wonder product to make coats grow ,that comes down to good coat maintenance & brushing out , A coat blowing is very different to clipping off a coat as the dead coat is what has blown ,clipping is about taking the good coat off. Reality patience is what you need ,hormaones don't make coat grow ,hormones can affect a coat quality but thats a medical issue I have coated breeds & good diet, weekly coat work plays the biggest factor .

My first stop would be a bowen person to see if any of the stomach muscles have been pulled which can cause all sorts of toilet issues

It wouldn't worry me after 3 months ,regaining lost weight on a giant breed is different to many others ,i wouldn't be in any rush to go crazy adding things ,look at what your feeding & the quantity ,5 kg is very little after such surgery that really affects dogs

Regular Veterinary Health Checks For Intact Males
Dogsfevr replied to labadore's topic in General Dog Discussion
We check our own dogs ,we now what is there & we are the ones who should notice any changes . AS a dog groomer i can't tell you how many things we pick up because owners don't check or feel there dogs ,most when you mention it .The number of cancers we have detected or changes in between an 8 week period makes me wonder whether owners actually touch there dogs Changes in the dogs privates can happen very quickly -
I would say find another vet if he doesn't sedate well then they just knock him out & you pay more Grass seeds don't always come out where they go in ,they can enter the feet & come out up the leg,on the body ,they travel so making sure the area has been fully cleaned is important . I would suggest you buy a muzzle ,if your dog has a seed there then reality is you need to get it out or the wound tended to ,put a muzzle on and do the job well the first time , Grass seeds don't just appear in the feet they can enter any where & as a groomer i dread this time of the year ,you can smell dogs that have infected grass seeds wounds & often its more of a moment as the when pops . Peroxide is great for cleaning out the wounds but if there is anything left inside it will keep festering & the dogs will often lick them & make it worse

maybe the breeder doesn't want to send a pup to live with the OP large dog

Dog Colour - Greying/fading Gene - Which Colour?
Dogsfevr replied to kelp's topic in General Dog Discussion
Keep it simple ,if he looks grey then just say grey , -
Nope doesn't worry me at all at that age i want my dogs to enjoy people in all scenario's in all occasions & to experience many kinds of approaches that life will through them. People aren't perfect so i prefer to expose my pups to that ,training them to behave around people is still just as easy & my dogs weigh in around 38 kg . My dogs are showdogs so public manners is important but no i am not crazy about what they do as pups Feeding is a whole different kettle of fish & one im anal on & will enforce & explain why in a non lecturing manner .

Well for starters no vet will talk to the breeder ,they are bound by the privacy act . But yes as a breeder we ask questions i expect the same from any prospective puppy owner . Asking the right questions for us is far more important than filling out a questionnaire that can be researched & well considered ,we like answer straight out of ones mouth & whether right or wrong that can be explained at that point & a reason given & to see what the reaction is. As to what photo's you want to send that is up to you if you don't want to send any then say so BUT in all seriousness don't forget breeders often read these posts & its often easy to figure out puppies inquiries versus there posts . We have had someone post on here & then come out & look at pups & then repost ,lets just say they didn't get a pup ,internet is a great tool for us breeders aswell But i will go back to what i said in another of your posts ,take a step back & stop rushing ,start doing more research & home work & asking questions that should be far more important than just wanting a pup asap .

Previcox--> Anyone Using It On Their Old(er) Dog?
Dogsfevr replied to Boronia's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes on an elderly dog ,its a high dose meds but it worked well & for my dog the one that gave him lest side effects. We didn't give daily or at full strength & our vet was happy with this method . He was obviously worse in winter so making sure he exercised was part of the maintenance role & we increased the dose slightly ,in summer we went minimal BUT was careful to keep him active when the air con was on to not stiffen. Rimaydal over heated my dogs ,he dug craters ,was restless & almost depressed ,the same on cartrofen tablets but could handle the injections ,Tramadal also over heated him & the reactions where very quick so we always try new meds when we are home to monitor -
Great for people who actually want to work them but a nightmare for pet owners who take them on not fully understanding there needs, coat is way less & one of the reason many pets owners consider them but they forget that less coat comes with other factors . I agree that there off switch is very different to other working dogs . We have over the years via Gundog rescue had a number off owners contact wanting to rehome or asking for assistance in being able to live with a working cocker . We have boarded a few & i wouldn't consider a sense of humour to own them but a true passion to give them a fulfilled daily life because they can be very frustrating
