How rude & insulting rare breeds do more than just win default ribbons .

Depends why he is being norty ,personally im not a fan of them .I have seen dogs that did do well on them & others that stand in fear afterwards with no body language . They may make them stand style but it won't fix a training issue or even soreness . Any of my dogs that fidget on the stack go to our bowen person first or a good chiro a sore dog will shift & do all sorts of things to be more comfy on the stack & forcing them to stand if there sore won't achieve anything , If they say there is nothing wrong with them then i now i can adapt my training to suit that dog & often easily achieved by changing methods

I can't comment on your dogs issue but i have had a dog who did have back surgery ,There is a long story to this & the surgery was performed without consent . My boy came out worse than he went in .We hadn'y given permission for the surgery as we wanted to ffully understand the tests results the options ,sadly the Uni(teaching hospital) took it upon themselves to do it & stuffed it big time hecould walk in but not walk out , Like you we would do anything BUT it was important to us to understand what the pros/cons where & the future & what rehab & lifestyle changes we needed to make. Luckily for us mums boss allowed her to take him to work as he couldn't be left at home ,he needed assistance toileting after the surgery ,we had to change any social activties we had for over 6 months & his rehab was a crucial part each day . After nearly 9 months of hard work he could walk around himself but till the day he was PTS he was a big commitment . To be honest we would never have picked the surgery in our dogs case ,the issue he had rest, drugs & gentle rehab should have been the first option as the issue he had wasn't a rush to go invasive ,we weren't given this choice . My advice get second opinions,do not be made to feel guilty that having the surgery is a must be your dogs advocate & ask lots of questions & if you don't understand the answers tell them to explain again & again until you get ,some like to blind you with science & make you feel guilty . Make sure you understand the after care & what will be required ,$5000 plus & maybe time off work can end up alot of money for some people & there is nothing wrong with being honest with what you can/can't afford . Ask about options to go surgery free for aslong as possible, Look into acupuncture & Bowen to keep his whole body in good condition ,his other muscles will be taking on the extra load so taking care of them is very important .Look into swimming . If you have a very good neutral who can be your extra ears & offer a sensible approach take them with you . Take list of questions

All our dogs are inside at night & even the boarding kennel dogs are shut in . I now alot of people don't want there dogs to sleep inside for what ever reason but it seems to become an issue when there elderly ,not been trained to be clean overnight & they find it too cold for outside but its an inconvenience for owners . If you don't want the dog inside at night then looking at good options for the night is a must . As for blanket killers never ever had a dog do that ,my gundogs even have feathers pillows they like there night time comfort

Agree so much my showdogs are my pets first & foremost & you have to want to live with the breed , There are so many breeds out there that are suitable but what you want to live with is another thing . As for showing & medium size, Do you want a breed that requires running ?? How big is your medium size?? Bigger the dog the bigger the crates you will need . I agree go to some shows & see what breeds take your fancy ,maybe go through all the DOL breed profiles & look at each breed & see if any jump out as a possibility

In all the years of having dogs PTS we have never taken other dogs nor even considered . To be honest i wouldn't ,i prefer to make that time all about the dog being PTS ,even those that have passsed at home we haven't made a thing about with the other dogs

As a breeder we have no issues PROVIDING you don't string each along . We recommend other breeders to people who phone all isay is if you do get a pup from one then make sure you tell the others ,many don't until the breeder phones to confirm a pup is available ,extremely frustrating when you have worked in with people who want something very specific . The breeders have most likley already told you the more specific you are the longer you may wait ,i will say generally the people on our lists who are not open minded to to go down the list as from our experience the people where harder to please with there specific wants & if the pup didn't suit we wouldn't sell anyway

Small Breeds That Do Well With Larger Dogs
Dogsfevr replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
We have big & small & my big dogs are taught to respect little dogs & vice versa but im also very aware they are near 40kg dogs & as such i respect they can only be as gentle as there size at times so we take precautions when required . The big dogs are taught from pups they must lay down to say hello ,the little dogs are taught not to stir & when they wish to play per there size that get there own private time -
table or floor makes no difference in stacking . The owner should be grooming weekly on the table given the work a Mini requires so the pup should be comfy table wise already . Given its a baby you treat it like any other breed ,the man thing to practice is having its tail touched all the other things would be the same as any other puppy & using its ears in the ring for expression

Should People Who Work 7 Hours A Day 5 Days A Week Buy A Puppy?
Dogsfevr replied to Stitch's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think anyone who thinks stay at home dog owners are better & will offer more are fooling themselves . 99% of our puppies go to working homes & i have no issues & most breeders work themselves -
All the Bull arabs we board are around the 40/50 kg mark & much heavier body than this one

We won't feed in the same spot if the dog can be a food refusal problem, setting up feed time is all about success not consistent failure. Many people feed the same spot, the same time & its like a routine & in turn the dogs routine becomes no & no . I am not one to pander to fussy eaters BUT i will feed within reason a way that fosters success,I will not hand feed under any circumstances (we will if recovering from serious illness or its a life or death scenario) because it makes life hard if anything happens for people to help . I have a dog here that wouldn't eat would go days ,no biggie if he wants his food he had 5 mins. We have no feed time here ,dogs get feed when ever it works in BUT he was a dog that ate like a horse late evening, not my preferred time but he would eat everything in 5 mins so i adapted to this time to get a successful eating habit established,4 months later he will eat anytime in any place ,if decides to have a day without then tough luck . Our dogs get feed all over the place ,feed time is rather exciting its about the unknown but our dogs are five minute hoovers 99% of the time. Ideal weight for Cavs is between 5.4 to 8 kg as per the breed standard , Maybe because you feel she is tiny you are making more out of it & feed time is stressful for her as well . Funnily enough some dogs do hate there bowls ,some metal ones can zap the dogs or there tags hit the bowl making a strange noise . Although if she is food driven at training she isn't a finicky eater ,a true fussy eater is a total nightmare & doesn't eat full stop but yours does . You could try adding warm water to her food & see if that makes any difference. Is the raw the same food the breeder used & what has the breeder said about her finicky ways or suggestions have they given ?

Hmm not the right word "breeder" in this case to give such silly advice that if there registered goes against the COE they must abide by themselves & not sell any pup under 8 weeks .Poor pups & poor new owners irrespective of the breed . No history is an excuse for getting rid of pups at 6 weeks except for the convenience of the people with pups & yep im happy to be flamed . Yes microchipping must be done .

Items Required For Diy Dog Grooming
Dogsfevr replied to moofius's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Depends how you want to groom them . Blades purely depend on the look you want & the coats of each dog. Are you planning to clip the top coats or strip them?? Yes you will need Thinners to blend, scissors for feet ,nail clippers a good table or area that is safe & non slip for grooming . Clippers comes down again to how much you want to spend BUT above all which ones feel comfy in your hands .
