Good diets vary but ultimately the dog decides what it does best on . Your breeder should supply you with a puppy booklet on diet,worming & all things related to the pup & simple breed queries. Ideally you should also contact your breeder first off for any issues so they get a chance to deal with issues before you get confused We send our diet sheets out a week before or give it to the new owners on there last visit so they can get the food & any basics before pup comes home. We encourage our new owners to discuss diet with us & if any issues to phone us as no matter what nsome advice isn't always from people who understand the breed or any special needs & can create issues . Many breeders also guarantee there pups for certain health issues on feeding there diet or contacting them if there are issues & discussing a good suitable alternative . Maybe send an email off to your breeder asking for a diet sheet so you can get the food ready . Many breeders will feed diets other people may not agree with it doesn't mean there good or bad but a case of its worked well for them & if your happy with there dogs & heealth then clearly the diet is working well .

I have pups flown from East often & never had an issue with them adjusting here . I don't see the point of getting them unless there was an issue . A good puppy should be allowed to settle in its own way

There are plenty of good crates in Perth City Farmers sell wire crates which are good (have owned some of there s for over 16 years now. The dog shop at the Canine sells good ones too as would Better pet & gardens .

They don't need pills unless they get car sick . Just use common sense when traveling ,if traveling in summer leave early ,make sure there are window shades but good travelers travel well . Just ensure you have water,bowl & poo bags in the car .

You don't need to stop every 2 hrs on the drive just for the dogs .If they are asleep & comfy just leave them & keep driving. I have done that trip often & we stop once ,twice if required & thats usually combined with a petrol stop the dogs are curled up asleep so we sooner just get to the other end thnt stop get them out try to resettle & then the trip takes forever & they get more feed up & everyone tired . When we stop we haven't picked up anything & i don't flea/tick treat . I would suggest discussing heartworm with your current vet & get there records if there is a history , Make sure there tags have a contact number & if microchipped don't forget to change the details .

I don't think you have created problems but as they age they get braver & will try things that are simply natural to them using there mouths to touch,feel & smell is part of there sensations of learning i actually don't discourage it BUT they now what is an acceptable limit . I like to think dogs can also be rewarded by voice after all thats the one tool you always have but sometimes just making it more fun helps. Reward can be food,ball a toy something that just gives them a sense of really pleasing you but in the end that voice is the magical tool on offer . You can still practice out & thats when using a treat can help with distractions & you being more interesting . You could drive to the local shop & sit on one of the seats in the right weather & simply sit there & reward the good behaviour . During distractions you can still teach tricks high fives & the likes things that go back to it being all about the dog . Everyone will have a different opinion this has worked for my big dogs who go to shows,royal & the likes . I just think people often think its all about going out & forget you can do such at home without making it hard work . You can always by a bum bag & when you feel like making it into a training session put it on & just do things in normal daily activities .

Training for distraction can be done anywhere to help do to listen . When i train the showdogs to free stand as pups its done during training whilst we are playing & there mind is distracted & when i ask for them to work they do so . Sitting on the front lawn & training offers distractions ,You can really do alot more than people think is this area . Your mum can play an active role in distraction training whether using a squeaky toy,walking around the dog whilst in a sit ,acting like a goose,eating ,So many simple things can be done now to teach your dog about listening . Rewarding the right behaviour is the key so you need to decide what reward means alot to your dog . If you have an obedience club in your area maybe head down & see what they offer in training & take the whole family amazing how seeing someone else struggle with a dog hits home

We don't use any but the worse reactions we have witnessed is to frontline ,it burns holes on there necks big & small dogs ,awful product .

We do things alot differently . Our pups have access with us all the time BUT the door is open & they are allowed to go outside & be independent & if the weather is right door is shut & off the go .We find even though they love us dearly they soon learn outside or vegeing out on there own is just as fun & the do it themselves. Our breed is very people orientated but they don't need to be trained to be a velcro dog . As you have found out being at home can actually create alot more issues & something we encourage our puppy owners not to do & that is take time off & we get alot of teachers like yourself who think its a good idea but it often goes pear shaped due to the at home all the time & then suddenly there routine is changed dramactically & they don't get it When raising our pups we never make a big deal of what a routine is but they now what is expected & accept providing it suits both parties ,that doesn't mean the pups get what they want but it also must be interesting for them aswell. Personally the laundry can be a very enclosed room & you need to decide where the pup will be hanging out when you go to work & work on that. Will it be in the laundry or is the plan for it be elsewhere?? I would be putting the crate in the family area & allowing it to use it on its own accord .

I agree learning to ignore others dog is very important skill to teach. The problem we see with puppy school puppies is they believe its there right to play with any dog they see because that is what is trained & encouraged .Then as they get bigger owners are suddenly trying to retrain there dogs because it becomes to much when out & about . infact all our pups are taught that it isn't a right to interact with dogs unless we say so & learning to be calm around other dogs is very important. Our guys are showdogs & we don't go crazy with socialization with other dogs BUT all are very social & enjoy playing but also enjoy going out without it being a requirement & like you we have big dogs that become a powerful package in adulthood . Being social doesn't mean they have to play ,being social is they can happily walk past a dog without any drama's. All my large pups are also taught they must lay down to greet small dogs & to be as gentle as possible but i am also realistic there a 40 kg & that there form of gentle is still strong

I am not a supporter at all & have strong opinions BUT i agree with the other poster there has to be more to this story than you have posted

I think it depends on the breed,the normal availability in the state & whether other breeders are having litters around the same time & whether there a breed easy to sell. We have a very easy to sell breed so taking names isn't a requirement but we do take all contact seriously & certainly embrace those people that tick all the boxes for our breed.

What sort of coat work do you want ?? Is it a high risk tick area?? Airedales will need to visit a groomer & be brushed regularly . Do you want an inside dog or will it be mainly an outside dog

We run boarding kennels & can tell you now many of our clients are feed simple foods & are very fit elderly dogs . Many are feed tin,have great teeth ,very healthy & there not owners that i would call conditioning freaks. The dogs are very happy with no issues. We feed what suits the dog that could vary in quality but in the end you can't feed something that obviously isn't agreeing . Although i will say the dogs with the most health issues we board are feed BARF. I do now people who feed it with alot of success but i would never push it as the be all end all diet like many do, As for high cholesterol some breeds already have it as part of there breed make up our breed is one of those . The main food issue we see is the junk food problem & seeing a massive increase in diabetic dogs often these are obese dogs as well . Diabetic dogs is very common now that it is scary

Welsh aren't what i would consider "out there runners" & the age alone i wouldn't even dream of running it ,I would have thought the breeder would have explained this? He is a gundog & most likely scenting whilst on his walks typical gundog behaviour . I to agree your expecting way to much for his age & only having it for a week

Like we say to our puppy owners you can spoil your dog but never loss site of the fact there a dog & need to be treated as a dog so they can enjoy there life. Your pup is 11 months so plenty of time to set new rules & get him into a nice routine that is all about him . Your dog isn't turning his food up because your not eating it,he just thinks the grass is greener on the other side but often the scraps & stuff can be more harmful for the dog . Like others have said you can add things or he can just have his dry & the odd necks, You can add raw meats mutton,roo ,chicken we never feed beef,You can add fish,yoghurt etc etc but i wouldn't go crazy and add everything Good quality is like a can of worms

Never had any issues with singletons but watching food intact is certainly the hardest part if the bitch has a full milk bar . What would i do in this case i would probably consider the other bitch option as it will keep pup active & have littermates but it also wouldn't worry me if the option wasn't there & the bitch may reject them anyway . If i did go down the path of the other bitch then i wouldn't be using my bitch as a foster mother ,It would either be a pup for her or no pup I guess you can wait & see if your girl whelps naturally or ends up with a c section . We have had to remove bitches from there pups on the rare occasion & not one has had issues with it they just went about there normal life . Some bitches make awesome mothers & some make terrible ones & this is something you won't now either until your girl delivers. I had one bitch that would kill her pups given a chance until about 6 weeks old

People i new open an indoor heated pool for theraphy no qualifications. Although the heating temp is of most importance with recovery . Not a check exercise building a functional all year facility & pblic liability insurnace is becoming crazy . Have you also looked into bowen courses on animal massage ,will fit into what your looking at & a good one is worth it. We use 2 one in this state & one in Vic who do amazing things with injuries & maintaining elderly or disease affected dogs
