  1. I have managed to escape unscathed, thus far :p
  2. Japanese Spitz drop coat all year round. If he is losing excessive amounts of undercoat then he could be going through a coat change
  3. To me, it means any past Champions in the breed - either deceased or retired. I wouldn't put a dog currently being exhibited in 'Past Champions'.
  4. I had a dog scanned about 18 months ago at Queensland Veterinary Specialists, it was $1,500 or so if I remember correctly. {edited to fix name of vet}
  5. Trying to get my head around this... so it was a half-sibling mating, where the sire is also the result of a father-daughter mating? To me, that's too close.
  6. We sell Intervet Caninsulin (10mL) for $58.
  7. Kilcoy show last month held classes 18 and 18A but then refused to issue Neuter Challenge certificates. Now there is an issue for fair trading or something. I would getting the concerned parties to take it further. Yeah I think smisch is taking it further with the CCCQ as she had her Lab entered. My neuter was entered but I did not end up showing him as he dropped his coat the week before. If I had've shown him and been refused a Neuter Challenge certificate, I would be requesting a refund on my entry fee. ETA: My boy ended up making his Neuter debut in Grafton last weekend, and now has some points towards his N Ch Whether I actually finish him or not is another issue but it was fun to see him back in the ring enjoying himself.
  8. Kilcoy show last month held classes 18 and 18A but then refused to issue Neuter Challenge certificates.
  9. In QLD, all I had to do was send in the original pedigree along with a sterilisation certificate and a letter stating that I wanted my dog marked as a Neuter and that I wanted him to remain on the Main Register. New pedigree is issued at no cost.
  10. Don't put too much pressure on yourself, it's one of those things that comes with time. I did a pretty awful job of handling my first dog. I am doing a much better job with my second one LOL Watching others handle your breed is a great way to learn lots of little tips and tricks - you want to show your dog in a way that minimises faults and emphasises qualities Your breeder/mentor will be a wealth of knowledge when it comes to this.
  11. A breeder has the right to put a dog on whichever register they so choose. If you're not happy with their terms, you go elsewhere. Simple.
  12. Looks like a normal hind-leg amputation to me?
  13. Well my dog is named Winter and she is white, does that count
  14. Hey you should be proud, it's a great achievement for a rare breed in a really tough group Not only that but you bred her yourself, so big congrats!!!
  15. So many gorgeous puppies on here!! My 2011 hopeful is now 7.5 months old and has 20 x classes in group, 8 x sweepstakes placings and 2 x Best Exhibit in Group (open shows). Very proud of the little munchkin, she is also over halfway to her title already
  16. I didn't come across any off-leash areas at any of the rest stops, I just walked my dogs on lead.
  17. I just found some info online: http://www.caravanningnews.com/restarea.htm
  18. the bolded bit. just because something is not allowed under the rules does not mean it doesn't occur Agree, I have personally witnessed entropian surgeries on show dogs who have gone on to continue being exhibited.
  19. I drove from Brisbane to Gladstone a few weeks ago and there were loads of rest stops on the highway that were suitable for stopping with dogs. Just keep your eye out for the signs
  20. Those statistics are truly horrifying.
  21. I didn't pay a cent for my Main Register show girl. I own her outright and she's everything I wanted and more. I have a very good friendship with her breeder Well-bred pups in my breed are around $1,500 at the moment and I wouldn't bat an eyelid at paying that.
  22. The cases I have seen personally (3 in the past few weeks) have all been unvaccinated puppies less than 4 months of age.
