  1. I've met LMSW and Roscoe many many times and she's not rude or snappy. No idea why anyone would think that. I've cuddled and held Roscoe at appropriate times (aka, when not in the middle of a game with LMSW) and he's just the sort of puppy I'd want. Happy to be with people, happy to be with other dogs but ultimately focused on LMSW. I think she's doing a great job with him. He'll be an amazing pet and perfomance dog when he's older. By controlling the circumstances of Roscoe's interation with people and dogs, she can make sure they're pleasant experiences for him and ones geared towards making him a balanced adult. While they're predictable for LMSW, they're not for Roscoe so she's setting him up to be successful in a situation where he doesn't know the outcome. Personally I think it's very smart. If he was a 30kg adult, would you be saying the same thing? I hate when people come over and just lay their hands on Zero - he has had a lot of not nice experiences with people who have "just come over to pat him" (like the guy who roughly grabbed his face and stared him in the eyes). Why should it be different for a puppy?
  2. Black and white with blue eyes in sibes is usually everyone's favourite. I want one but not at the expense of the dog's structure or temprement. Personally I'm partial to a wolf grey with brown eyes myself:
  3. Yeah - he wasn't good for a long time. He STANK - I'll never forget the smell and he was yellow. His first bath needed heaps of water changes because the water was black! I looked at his pound photo and thought he'd be this happy, normal sibe and when I saw him, it was horrible. When he sat, he had rolls that went over his legs so he was a blob. He still does now but now it's excess skin, not fat. I have a lot of people tell me he's still overweight but when he's out of coat, he's a skinny mini (think fingers between ribs) - it's all because of the thick coat and excess skin. Mop
  4. Yep - Still grey market. You have to send it back to DWI for repairs done under warranty.
  5. If you don't have a contract, I'm pretty sure the breeder isn't legally obliged to do anything. It's sad that she has been diagnosed with it and depending on your relationship with the breeder, it's possible that they could offer you something (money towards the surgery, another puppy etc) but they don't have to. If it hasn't shown up in any of her siblings, she might be the exception, not the rule. I heard recently of a dog with HD - it's not in any dog in her lines (all are hip scored) though it is a known problem in the breed and it's just unfortunate that she has it.
  6. Zero's pound photo - oh what lies it told!! You can't see it but he was yellow, had the shortest coat in the world, was shedding like crazy and FAT!! About 43kgs and 2 years, 6 months old. Zero after a bath, and a blow dry with his new (longer, desexed) coat coming back in - 6 weeks after I got him and at about 40kgs at 2 years, 8 months old. Zero in august - 4 years, 7 months after I got him and at about 26kgs (notice the roll of excess skin down his chest). He was 7 years, 1 month here. Zero a couple of weeks ago - 4 years, 11 months after I got him at 7 years, 5 months :D
  7. Personally I'd go and see a trainer. I'm sure someone in QLD would do the kind of training you're after. I wouldn't put an e-collar in anyone's hands without a reputable professional's help.
  8. No you're not! There are 2 sibes in NSW who do it! Zero: *FD title *FDX title *FDCh title *RN title *RA title
  9. I don't think I have an answer about what should be done to address the problem of animals in shelters being PTS. As much as it pains me to say it, I think the general public are idiots when it comes to animals. I have met many, many people who are absolutely lovely and love animals (so have quite a few of them!) but who have no idea how to adequately take care of their needs. Owning any animal is often seen as "easy" and so people aren't prepared to put in the time and research it requires to get the knowledge. I also have a lot of people tell me that they're getting a bird or fish instead of a dog or cat because they're "easier". In truth, they need just as much effort and work as my dog and my cat - my birds for example, need their cages cleaned, proper nutrition (which is more than just seed), exercise, time alone with me, training and grooming too. They're not easier, they're just different. The fish were easier as far as day-to-day care went but needed a lot of research to keep them healthy. I spent hours at the local aquarium store learning about PH and ammonia levels just to be able to get the fish to start off with!
  10. How about this: 1) Smart (like evil genius smart) 2) Drivey (food or prey, i'm not fussy) 3) Independent 4) Gorgeous 5) Mine :D I found it in Zero :D
  11. You have a normal cat. Mine is an inside cat - i've been presented with everything from a lizard to a cockroach that he's killed in the house. It's what cats do. I choose not to let him roam for that reason because he would kill something bigger.
  12. I should really play catchup with this! I haven't uploaded anything in MONTHS!!! Everything is sitting on my computer but I'm just soooo lazy!
  13. Z has a few beds Outside he has one of these so that I can move it around when I work so he can "supervise" - he's on a chain in this photo because i was working out the front which isn't fenced. And inside he has a crate with a big cushion in it, though I don't have photos of that. He also has a crate outside, though he rarely uses it and a k9 pro soft crate that travels in the car with us.
  14. Why not take the double letters out of it if you're concerned about the length or the H off the end so it's Waratina?
  15. I wonder if that image was uploaded by Rocco or if it's been stolen and uploaded by someone else.
  16. Great choices - you're rocking the new kit!
  17. Here's Zero last year: I'm going to do his christmas photo for this year on the weekend.
  18. Have you tried putting a sticky velcro dot next to the ball hole and attaching the ball to the velcro rather than putting it in the hole? That way it won't fly at his face when he hits the box but he'll be able to trigger it and have a ball there. Is he afraid of the sound of the box triggering? Or just it triggering when the ball is there?
  19. My aunt is on patrol at her place after seeing 2 tiger snakes in her house yard. Luckily both were caught and the hole they were getting through found. She thinks it's going to be a bad one for her this year - lots of rodents around because there's water in the lake behind her property. It's been dry for the last few years. Anyone in WA around the wanneroo area look out - there have been a few snakes seen in the new housing estate and we saw one crossing the road between the estate and the lake side properties.
  20. I've shot video and stills with both (though more video than stills with the 60D) - for video I prefer the 7D over the 60D because it seems to perform better at higher ISO and because of that, it makes it easier to colour grade in post, though as a general rule, you can't push the colour grade that far with the DSLRs because they shoot in a compressed H.264 format (but I'm sure he knows all about that). They're much of a muchness in low light (on the whole, the low light video on the EOS range is brilliant and outshines even the Arri Alexa and the Red in a lot of situations) and there is a HUGE amount to be said for the glass that's in front of it. The flip out screen on the 60D is handy for shooting in tight space because it means you can put the camera right against the wall or on the floor and still see what you're shooting. I usually use a monitor when I shoot though so I'm very rarely actually looking at the live view on the camera. For stills, again I prefer the 7D (which is why I have one instead of the 60D) but I haven't tested them both to extremes. The 7D just feels better in my hands and seemed to perform better at high ISO than the 60D did. The photos on the 60D were just shot around the office - i'd love to take it out and try it but I don't really have a reason to now that I have the 7D
  21. Here's Mr Zero keeping cool: And in his pool at home:
  22. LMSW is already learning the components to ANKC obedience and rally o and putting it into practice with her other dog - and she's not going to put a foot wrong with k9 pro's guidance :D SK your new puppy is gorgeous! I believe that dogs come into our lives (sometimes at inopportune times!) for a reason. I'm sure you'll do great together!
