  1. Both my boys are sooks, Bronson my youngest is a shocking sook and always has been, he is 2 1/2 now. He is a real drama queen, if we are out walking and the other three dogs go down a track out of sight, he cries. He is really quite talky and vocal to so I think the sooking for him is a real way of communicating to me that he is not happy. Generally I ignore him. He has got slightly better but has not grown out of it at all!! Cooper on the other hand only sooks when he doesn't get his own was, he really uses the sooking as a tool if that makes sense. He is 4. Neither of my girls are sooks at all. They just sit back and let the boys do the whinging and crying thing!!
  2. Thanks, I got the confirmation letter today to say they have all my paper work and they will be in touch before the assessment day to let me know when it is. Should he sometime August or September.
  3. Thanks Guys, dog is terrier mix, around 14 years old, still a spritley little fella. Not sure if he has had previous issues. Owner was just after a quick fix for tonight to alleviate the itching. I'll pass on the info about the tea. Thanks again
  4. Hi Guys, just looking for a home remedy for an itchy dog, A friend just rang me and asked me what she could put on her dogs skin as he is itchy like crazy, she gave him a brush and he has like flaky dandruff coming off. I suggested aloveen just a little to rub in but it is too late to get any now and I don't have any to lend her. So just wondering if she could use something in the mean time. I just didn't know what to suggest. She doesnt want to bath him now its too late and its cold here and he sleeps outside. Thanks for any ideas I can pass on.
  5. What sort of pup is he? does he have a thick coat? I noticed on your avatar you are in Vic, it is so cold at nights now. I agree with others crate him or let him sleep in the laundry that way if he cires you can take him outside to toilet where you would like him to go. Win win, puppy sleeps inside where it's warm and learns correct toileting at the same time. Maybe if you don't want him to sleep inside forever you could make the transition once he is fully toilet trained? Have fun with your pup, they grow up all to quickly!!
  6. Yes well I hope the weather is the same for next weekend! I thought it was weird you never MSG me back after my message. It was the day we went to BM, and all the time you probley thought I hadn't returned your MSG...lol I never saved a copy either so can't even resend it or even remember what I wrote for that matter. Well sounds like the doggies were glad to see you home!!
  7. Hi Tez, it was great down there aPart from a few unsavory looking characters, but you get that! It rained just as we finished the walk. We really missed you training today, Chris and Ralph finally passed well behaved so that was good!! There was only 2 puppies but quite a few for general classes. And the weather was good. How's your weekend been? How did Gus and Jane go with out you for the weekend? I bet you missed them heaps! Just wondered if you got my pm last week with the link to the pics when we went to Bacchuss Marsh?
  8. I wonder if something like mylanta (similar to quick eze but just liquid form) would work but you would have to syringe it in??
  9. Sorry to hear the big fella is not well. Do you cook the chicken breast for him or does he have them raw? You could cook up some chicken thigh, maryland or drumsticks and pull the meat off the bone. It would not be as expensive as the chicken breast and maybe have a little more flavor than the breast to entice him. Will he eat cooked (boiled) pumpkin, you could mix some of this in as well. If I am having a particularly hard time with Cooper and his usual bad food habits, I entice him with a small amount of liver boiled and chopped up added to his food to get him interested, however might not be good if his tummy is feeling off? Is there anything else that he will jump through hoops for that you could entice him with?? Sorry I can't come up with much else, hope Ivan is feeling better soon!!
  10. Bummer only just seen your message, I came on after obedience and seen no reply so I thought you must have been busy, I clipped the girls and then my friend form Koroit txt me to go with her to thunder point so that's where I have been, got back just in time as the rain started. We might have more luck next weekend.
  11. There's a video on the Delta website now of an example. You can't use rewards during exercises. http://www.deltasociety.com.au/Volunteers/Become That video is great it really gives a great idea of what is expected!
  12. This is from the web site mentioned above by Terranik 1. Melbourne Therapy Dogs Branch 2. Bendigo Therapy Dogs Branch 3. Geelong-Bellarine Therapy Dogs Branch 4. Ballarat Therapy Dogs Branch (sub-branch of Geelong/Bellarine) 5. Mildura Therapy Dogs Branch (sub-branch of Sydney)
  13. Nice shot Helen, Im wondering what it would have looked like with Bella in the middle? Evolving, lovely shots, Echo has such a sweet face. I cant believe how much Alera has grown already. It just goes way to quick when they are puppies!!
  14. Ok cool what time would suit you? I really have to come home and clip the girlies tomorow so I probly wont be set to go till a little later in the arvo if thats ok? Me and RJ went today there was so many people up there because footy was on but the dogs had a good run.
  15. Totally normal to me, I even found myself saying Oh Tully has that jumper, Bronson has that jacket and look on the ground we have those exact dog beds
  16. What a gorgeous boy he is Huga, Did you take these with your D80? They are excellent!!
  17. How closely do they test the dog with another dog on assessment day, I will be right with Tully if the other dog is not to big. Maybe I can use her ball to get her focus on me?
  18. Wow barking man, that must drive the other residents insane! My friend has figured out who is the pincher and who is the hitter and steers clear of them if she is able.
  19. Mmmm Tully is not always totally dog friendly she likes people better than dogs she is not what you would call agressive but she does not like other dogs in her face at all. I'll be glad when the assessment is over and done with and I can relax.
  20. Will definatley touch base a bit closer to the time, I will more than likely have another DOLer with me her name is Shannon (aka Mawson) she already has her dog assessed and has been visiting in Geelong occasionally for 2 years. The following week after the dogs assessment we have to attend the all day induction (providing the dogs pass of course ) Im getting a bit ahead of myself now!!
  21. So who's coming for a walk tomorow? About 1.30 ish? Albert park?
  22. That's a bit of a concern with Lacy she is the only one of mine that is a licky dog, I have a friend who also has a very licky dog but she has taught him on visits no lick, so we have been practicing heaps the no lick. I'm hoping she will be fine as she is generally very well behaved and she will listen to my commands so fingers crossed! SLLH do you find with Ramses that the people that are severly handicapped are a bit unpredictable with their behaviour around him? My friend visits the a facility in Bacchuss Marsh and she has found a few of the patients have pinched and hit her dog, he has just taken it in his stride and is basically bomb proof, but if they are not used to it, it could be a concern. Mine have never had a harsh hand raised to them ever, I still don't think they would react just get a shock more than anything. Has anyone alreAdy doing Delta come across this and how did your dog react?
