Hi Guys, just wanted to post here about one of my images being displayed in an exhibition in the Hamilton art gallery. I entered the picture into a competition a while ago and there was over 600 entries into the competition which had a few different categories. All the images are on display in the gallery till mid October so we will go up at some stage and have a look. This was the brief, The focus is on ‘Celebrating Farm Life’, and professional and amateur photographers alike are invited to enter photographs in the following themes; Of droughts and flooding rains – Impact of weather events Red sky at night – Farming environment Country wisdom – Safe farming practices Working the land – Agriculture at work Malting barley to Mallee bulls - What we grow Future farmers – What does farming look like in the future Images of farm life (primary school section) I choose the first category and used a picture I took back in July, I took the photo with my Canon G1X and there was just something about it, so I thought I would enter it and see how it went. I don't care at all about not winning but I thought it was a bit special to actually have an image in a gallery! :) There is a clip on You tube if anyone wants to have a look, my images is at 54 seconds. I was stoked they included it in the clip as they obviously couldn't include all 600 odd images. The image in the you tube clip looks quite muted compared to how I edited it, so not sure if it is just the printers they used, I was a little disappointed it wasn't exactly like it was on my screen but it is only a video clip it might look better in real life, I will see when I go and check it out. I can't wait to see all the other images as well. This is the image

Much the same really, she is in rehab now and slowly having small walks each day, still lots of pain and nausea but she has a lot of other stuff to contend with as well as the broken leg unfortunately. Too much to mention and is in so many tablets it's just aweful for her. She has to walk on this big frame thing and she has non existent shouldes (thry have wasted away due to arther) and serverly knarled hands from her arthritis so it's really difficult for her to be rehabilitated. She is determined she using home to her place, I thik she should be in a high care facility now but if I dare mention it I'm shot down so I just keep my mouth firmly shut! What will be will be, but it is such a pattern, she goes home for a while till the next catastrophe and then she is readmitted for something else. In other news I must be out in sympathy, I've been off work today with my dam stupid back, can't stand up strait, I'm going tomorrow by hook or by crook even if I have to lean on something all day. If I had one wish it would be for a pain free back!! JJ hows your teeth problem now? Is it all good and back to normal?

it's funny with Macro you notice so much stuff you wouldn't otherwise notice! This flower is tiny like really tiny and there is no way you can even see the 'pubic hair' normally.

Nice shoe, love the air under the little guy in the last shot. I've been using my macro lens for some action shots its quite a versatile lens! Which one do you have?
-
Wow you must be ecstatic! What a wonderful end to an aweful two months. I know how I would feel if one of mine went missing!

God thats just awful, how do you deal with them if they are that long, don't the quicks grow too so you wouldn't be able to cut them too short? I usually clip my guys nails once a fortnight and even then sometimes I think they are too long but I am too scared to cut them any shorter. we don't do any walks on the concrete only in grass so they don't get naturally worn down. Looking at the pics in the first instance I did think they were spiders. Poor doggy!

You wont have to be as close to your subject with the 90mm, another one to consider is the Sigma 105, I looked a that and the canon 100mm and I decided on the canon, its great. If you want it for a better price DWI have it for much less that you can get it in a shop. Have a look HERE There are from the 100mm Macro I am only new to Macro so still learning and I can see my shots getting better the more I take. It is a bit of a learning curve using a macro lens and takes some patients.

Looks like you do a great job, I like clipping my guys but I couldn't do it for a job, my hat goes off to groomers you must see some horrible stuff.
-
Thats so pretty! Another kitty from me, my old girl Holly.
-
I must be going mad, I was sure I read in a post somewhere you had the 7D?
-
Well I'm surprised it doesn't look that long for 6 months growth, my guys would be super long if they weren't clipped for 6 months. Edited to add, I just had a closer look at the pics and maybe it's because the fur is pretty curly? I couldn't imagine leaving my guys for 6 months what a job it would be to clip them off, you did well to do it in the time you did.

Anyone having trouble uploading to PB?

Thanks for sharing CC. Jo I an use Manual mode and have the iso on Auto I think, will give it a go next time I am out and about.

I wondered the same thing, they must have dam big cups! 13 kilos of food a day is just ridiculous! Surely it's a typo?
-
I thnk there may be instructions in the info to do it through the computer. Card reader would be easier. I just did the new 2.0.3 update, hoe that's it for a while now, there was a few glitches with the 2.0 one Southey have ironed them out with a bit of luck. I didn't experience any of the things they mentioned but the update is easy so must thought I'd do it anyway.

Fab shots, I seen the ones on Facey too, all fantastic shots! -
Great Shots in here everyone! CM, I have a question for you, I noticed you use a lot of really high shutter speeds, do you work mainly in Manual or TV? Just curious, these ones above look like you had fantastic light? I took some action ones the other day and I think when I bumped up the shutter the pics were clearer, but getting the iso to be spot on was a little tough as the day was a bit overcast. I need to practice more.

All fantastic!! What a great lens! Oh your photographic skills might have something to do with them too.

 I'm pretty much getting that reaction from everyone, just as well it will grow back, I do prefer them boofy. I think the biggest problem with Bron is his tubbiness, his face looks so skinny on his chunky body
-
Gorgeous photos, love the one with the lady bug especially. What lens did you use for these shots? beautiful colours!

someone like this freak walking among us. Just unbelievable!

Bronsons getting a complex, not one comment on his new (very short snoz cut. ) So far I have had "omg what have you done to poor Bronsons" and OMG that poor Dog, he has to walk around like that you know. " But mostly nice comments, like it suits him and makes him look handsome! Either way its only a short hair cut it will grow back. It certainly makes him look older, he always looks so puppyish with his teddy snout! Whats news with everyone else.
