Put your camera into AV and just take 3 photos with different f stops. Just play around.

I'm yet to do a proper long exposure one, except for my silly torch smiley and that wasn't with a tripod, all I did was sit the camera on a fence post and set it for 30 seconds.

I have been largely influenced to spend money on lenses by seeing photographs here. I definitely bought the 50mm because of DOL. come on then, show us!!

this is a really crappy time exposure one but it's so cold here I didn't even get out of the car to take this. 2 seconds, hand held. I will try to do better but I just wanted to put one up here. I took it because the car in front had dog cages and a sticker saying something about hunting hounds (although it's so blurry you cant read it), so I thought it was a good one for DOL.

I think my dogs would have very low heart rates, certainly lower than 60, I haven't actually taken them but when I feel them they seem to be much less than 1 beat per second, I dont know what a normal rate should be. The vet often comments on how fit my dogs are. Did the vet seem concerned.

I've never heard of such a thing. Hope he makes a full recovery. I just thought you might like to know, your posts are quite hard to read without paragraphs. Could you please put a few gaps in them in the future. Oh and welcome to DOL.

thanks for the suggestions, looks like I'd better look into a card reader, are there different sizes/capacities, I know nothing about this stuff. Anyway kja's suggestion of taking the battery out and putting it back worked. thanks! Either way I have a 5 year warranty, another thing HN convinced me I'd need so if it happens again I might just utilise the damn thing.

I'm a computer dummy so I just followed the instructions from Canon on how to download and used the gear provided. I know nothing about card readers and wouldn't presume to know more that "they've" told me, I haven't had a problem until now.

I've never had a problem before but now it's playing up. I try to download the photos onto my computer by plugging in the camera. The EOS utility screen comes up as always but then nothing, usually the camera has a think and then gives me the option of downloading all images or just the new ones I've taken. That screen isn't coming up now. I only have the green light to show the camera is on but the screen is just black. I've tried reformatting and then took one test shot, so it's the only thing on the camera but it's not working. Help, what is wrong with my camera and what can I do.

we had the best walk today. My friend came and stayed overnight with Lily and Oscar so I took them and my boy Tag,(the only one of mine I trust to stay with us) on a walk through some lovely bushland and this huge paddock that was once an orchard. They went wild. I suppose these would once again be frozen motion

I would think if the vet is treating it as a burn then that's what she thinks it is. Poor little pup. Hope it heals with no problems.

Well it's playing with movement but apart from my torch smiley I've yet to do the long exposure. I'd love to do it with the bounding roos but I doubt it will happen. anyway here's the boys playing in the lounge room a few minutes ago.

I agree, sometimes some of us do that. there's also a couple of threads devoted to particular lenses to give you a idea of what they can do. I'd love it if everyone put their gear list in their siggy.
