  1. Now if someone could invent an app that told people there's someone/thing still in their car that would be a life saver. I'm sorry for what you went through Kirty, knowing how much you love your babies it must be agony for you. After forgetting Feather that time I can imagine how it could happen. I was just lucky it was cool when I did it.
  2. I cannot think of a worse death than to be trapped in fire. If they could have at least been able to run, they might have had a chance.
  3. They were a big surprise to Marcus and me at the time. I was so sure we'd have all blacks and sables. Genetics are a big mystery to me, who knows what surprises are hidden in them.
  4. Just be careful, isn't set up by the company, it's been set up by someone named Olivia Kmet and judging by the email address for the paypal account, it's hers. Her intentions are probably completely honourable but be sure of who you are donating to.
  5. Yeah, he's just a bit gorgeous. She gets a few of her quirks from him too. She does this funny 2 pawed shove, (where she looks like she's performing CPR) when she wants to play, and apparently he does it too.
  6. I got to meet Neko's Daddy last week. This is Galig Letz Danz, aka Tango. I can see who she got her lovely brown eyes from 5F6A7061dpp by kirislin, on Flickr
  7. I forgot Feather and left her in the car for about 4 hours once. Luckily for both of us it was in cold weather. It was only when I started thinking I hadn't seen her for a while, I went running around the house calling her looking under all the blankets and her usual sleeping spots that I remembered and rushed out to the car to find her sound asleep and perfectly content. That's a horrible thing to have happened Kirty. It would haunt me too.
  8. thanks Panto. His neck is improving. I tried putting the drops in his ears again yesterday and he didn't yelp when he shook his head to remove them. Pucky and I appreciate all the advice and good wishes everyone's offered for him too.
  9. that looks like fun. I couldn't afford the water although I did hose my mare down to cool her off.
  10. I'm happy for my dogs to go outside if that's what they want to do. There's wading pools although Tag's the only one who goes in them, but if they want to lay in the sun they can. If they want to crawl under a bush and lay on the dampened ground they can. As a kid we had outside dogs and I dont recall us being worried about them in the heat, and none ever got heat stroke. I even remember watching our cats panting. I wont take them in the car now unless they come into any place I'm going in this weather though. I have to go out tomorrow and I'm taking all the dogs. I wouldn't leave them at home unattended in this weather. I'm quite anxious about it. I pity the poor dog in the OP. what a horrible way to die.
  11. the link works but it's no longer available to my old program. Vista. I dont like the way they force you to upgrade. Other than being full of photos I need to remove to an external hard drive to get more room, I still find my computer just fine for what I need.
  12. the link takes me to facebook but not your page.
  13. I've had young healthy dogs do it occasionally if they've had a really active day and are very tired. For example when I first started racing my whippets. They'd come home exhausted and sometimes wet the bed. Another time I recall Tag having a big day at the beach and he did it too. Is it possible that's what's happening or is it too frequent?
  14. No, I dont think it's just a retriever thing, my whippets do it too.
  15. I've had dogs for years and I think I know mine pretty well. Penny (now dec) and her son Tag are great ones for giving presents when they're happy. Tag just reminded me of it this morning. He'd pulled a green apple off the tree and was pretty excited, wagging his tail vigorously and parading around with his prize. I said what have you got there? and he got all sort of coy, bowing his head and coming up to me with it. I gave him a pat and he presented me with the apple. I took it and thanked him and then offered it back and he happily took it away again. I love these silly interactions with my dogs, but I dont fully understand what's going on. What is the purpose of them giving presents like this?
  16. I want to get more chooks, I miss the bug hunting expeditions in my garden and the lovely golden yoked eggs.
  17. that part sounds very similar to what Brendan the lovely osteopath did to Neko and Feather. He was very thorough in his history taking and examination and then treatment. I would very much like to take Pucky to him but sadly he injured his hand and is off work.
  18. I think I've had her out here a couple of years ago. She was more thorough with the first patient but the second one she seemed to skim over. I dont understand what Bowen does. How could it help with a yeast infection? What do they do?
  19. have to admit I haven't. I know nothing about it.
  20. thanks everyone. I haven't made a booking as yet because I think perhaps the meloxicam has kicked in and he's only whimpering occasionally. We've all just been for a walk at the park and he was happy to trot around as normal so I will see how he is tomorrow. If it continues to improve I'll hold off with any more vets for now and try to save up some more $$ but if it gets worse or has a fresh flare up at some stage he'll be off to Sandown or Des Fegan. Much as I hold my usual vet in high esteem I've never been happy taking dogs to vets for vague spinally things like this. I must add, it wasn't my usual vet I saw anyway.
  21. thanks VM. She's all better now, at least it didn't bring her up in hives like the last reaction she had. It's quite chilly here this morning, hard to believe it's Summer. Neko knows where the warmest spot is. 5F6A7138dpp by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A7140dppt by kirislin, on Flickr
