  1. I don't agree with any animal being killed in this way it's awful
  2. Yes you need to lower your expectations a bit I'm afraid. It all sounds very normal. He's still a baby and has only been with you a few days. Toilet training can commonly take weeks. I think the fact he is going outside is great but it won't happen overnight. Feeding 4 times a day is also pretty normal for a baby puppy. I don't have advice on crates as I don't use them sorry, but you may just need to ignore the whining a bit otherwise he will click that every time he whines you give him attention. He shouldn't need to wee every hour overnight so maybe decide you will let him out once or twice and then just ignore any other carry on :)
  3. You'll be fine! He may still be just getting used to the new environment so I wouldn't worry about the treats etc yet. Don't stress about missing the odd piddle, you'll know soon enough once he gets a wee bit bigger :)
  4. Mosley is not allowed to eat cat poo OR his own poo. Even if he has had something yummy for dinner. This displeases him.
  5. I think it's a totally different situation. If a dog is at real risk unless crated for an amount of time due to serious injury that's completely different to a healthy active dog being crated for 8 hours a day for its owners convenience. I don't really think they're comparable circumstances. I also wouldn't be crating any dog 24/7 unless it was literally unable to move. It would have to be a VERY serious injury.
  6. Yes Lili also gets shushed if licking bits at 3am. She stops immediately but is disgusted.
  7. This. The look on Lili's face when she's told to get off the bed/couch with her bone is priceless.
  8. This is why I wouldn't ever buy a pup from somewhere else unseen. I know it can work out fine but I'm not trusting enough.
  9. The only solution here is NEVER leaving any food unattended even for a second  Mosley can counter surf without even going on tippy toes so it's just become a habit now to move anything away.
  10. I don't think anyone has said you're a bad dog owner, I certainly don't think that. But people will have differing opinions on things like crates
  11. I have an Aussie girl of the same age and she can be a bitch to our other dog sometimes. She is quite dominant but not actually aggressive and interestingly is not really into other dogs in general. Again not aggressive, but just not interested, she's very human focused. She's also quite highly strung and can become anxious in some situations. This sounds fairly serious though and I'd contact a trainer/behavourist if I were you as it sounds like a situation that could end badly and you don't want her getting hurt or hurting another dog. Have you spoken to the breeder about the behaviour?
  12. So sorry to hear this I also would get a second opinion asap before he possibly gets worse.
  13. Personally I wouldn't do it but I don't use crates. Can she be left inside with access to a couple of rooms?
  14. Soooo cool. I really want to go truffle hunting with dogs!
  15. I would just follow her lead, if she seems happy and keen and is showing no discomfort or distress, just keep doing what you're doing. I think its important to keep them moving as they get older :)
  16. Except if they look like a teddybear they aren't exactly going to put people off  I can't think of anything less scary personally
  17. This is good. Sure it's not ideal but neither is the situation in general. I don't really see any other options than in a pound/shelter if the dog needs to be boarded somewhere? I guess they could look at foster carers but that takes time matching up etc and sometimes dogs need somewhere to go urgently.
  18. I don't think there's anything wrong with having pups outside as long as it's secure and sheltered.
  19. Our guys aren't usually alone for more than a few hours and are walked first thing each morning. If we're out they stay inside as one is an LGD = barker  and we live in a really dodgy area. When we're home they can choose to be in or out and they sleep inside, one on the bed and one on the couch.
  20. I'd rather be around dogs than most people....
