Dame Aussie replied to cowanbree's topic in General Dog Discussion

Cat Flu Weepy Eyes Contagious To Dogs?
Dame Aussie replied to cowanbree's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yeah I'd have them both on doxy otherwise they'll just keep passing it to each other. -
I don't show my dogs but I thought it was about showing a correct example of the breed
-
If the dog has faults or is obese it shouldn't be shown at all

Cat Flu Weepy Eyes Contagious To Dogs?
Dame Aussie replied to cowanbree's topic in General Dog Discussion
It's kind of like the flu vacc in people, it doesn't always cover them 100%. Cats can also have the virus but not show symptoms unless stressed. -
Yeah. Noone is denying there are plenty of fat pet dogs out there, but isn't showing meant to be about the ideal?

Tail Wagging On Command
Dame Aussie replied to Ivory & Beau's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Ours both wag their tails if we even look at them let alone talk to them  -
Yeah I wouldn't use her either. Kepala are pretty good. Do you have any dog savvy friends who could stay at your house with her so she's in her own environment?
-
Mosley lurrrves poo. Cat poo, possum poo, bird poo, his own poo....you get the picture. Nothing we do stops him, it's just too yummy apparently and he's done it since we brought him home at 12 weeks. Doesn't matter what food he's on. Only solution is scooping it straight away! Our other dog looks at him like he's a feral beast, she has NEVER eaten any type of poo
-
Yeah my Mum for example puts her hand out in front of Mosley as he LOVES her and wants to jump. As soon as he sees her hand go out he settles.

Wow!! Is it that exciting to come to your place!! ;) they're beating the door down!!

Terrible Things Your Dog Is Forced To Endure
Dame Aussie replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
Neko looks pissed  -
Okay I'm a dumb dumb. last few ribs at head end or bottom end? What am I supposed to be feeling for? You're not dumb! Just run your hand along their ribcage and if you can feel at least the last few ribs at their back end it usually means they're a good weight :) .
-
All you need to do is feel the last few ribs without pressing. You can test this on long haired dogs too.
-
Our visitors know they will be greeted by two excited wiggle bums but there's no jumping and they settle within a minute or two and just lie down and chill. If we have people over for the first time we usually put them outside with a bone till they calm down then let them in later.
-
I could do with losing a few kg and my dogs are both perfect weight. Actually one is like a gutted herring but you can't put weight on her
-
no I don't think so either. Normally it's just your average caring owners who just can't stop feeding the sad eyes!

Colonitis In 8Yo German Shepherd
Dame Aussie replied to charli73's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Is this the same as Colitis? Lili had a bout of Colitis and was given antibiotics given in an injection and then pills to continue with, it cleared up really quickly and no reoccurrences so far, touch wood. I'd get her checked out more thoroughly (bloods/fecal sample) if it's continuing. -
We don't have set times either on purpose so we never have dogs torturing us
-
Dinner once a day but they also get meaty bones most days so it probably averages out to two meals a day
-
I've been told a few times my Aussie is too skinny, she's a perfect weight by the standard and the vet. I just think lots of dogs these days are too fat!
-
Yeah, there can be complications in a pregnancy that could mean time in hospital or limited mobility etc and a puppy thrown into that could make it really hard. Its just so unpredictable. A friend of mine ended up on crutches and then bed rest only about 4 months into her pregnancy and she was otherwise young and healthy.
-
I'd probably wait if it were me. You just don't know what to expect with a new puppy and baby. It's likely everything would be fine, but I'd be inclined to wait until you're at least into a routine with the baby and then get a new pup. That's just what I'd do though, only you guys really know what you can handle :)

Woman Charged For Allegedly Selling Non-Existent French Bulldog Puppie
Dame Aussie replied to Panto's topic in In The News
Absolutely understandable DA! Similarly I won't sell a pup unless I've met the person or they come with a very good referral from someone I know and respect. some friends of mine have just taken a plane to Europe last night because the seller insists on meeting them before she'll sell them a puppy. Too bad if when they get there she doesn't like them. I dont think that will happen, they've already built up a relationship on the internet. Now that's dedication! -
