  1. Its not the wound is it? If not I'd bet anal glands too. Their smell is like no other and if his diet wasn't as good they may have built up while he was away.
  2. Good on him. This kind of thing needs attention.
  3. I wouldn't do it. It can definitely work but gets complicated.
  4. And plenty of people don't do it. It's not 'suddenly' bad for some of us it's something we wouldn't do. Even when I worked two jobs I was always home to sleep, I personally wouldn't leave my dogs for a week (visiting for feeding) knowing they're sitting there in the dark wondering where the hell I am. Once again, it's my personal choice. Yep. I won't leave mine overnight without someone home.
  5. Sounds pretty average. I think ours is around $70
  6. It sounds a bit odd. Dogs won't normally pee where they sleep, they'll go somewhere else. Did the vet just brush it off or actually check for a UTI?
  7. Any would suit but I think a Golden would be best. All the ones I've met have been really easy going.
  8. Fascinating. Not surprising though I don't think. Dogs are awesome :)
  9. Having worked at a pound soooo many people come in adamant their dog has been stolen, only to have it picked up by the ranger an hour later as it just escaped. I don't doubt that horrible stuff goes on but I do think Facebook etc can work people up into a frenzy.
  10. What exactly do you mean by the bolded part? Seriously what a rude post. Sorry I bothered. Have a nice day. Yes I'm curious as to who is being hypicritical here? This is a forum and all we're doing is pointing out there might be more going on. You do whatever you want but you dont have to be rude about it. None of us were. Agreed.
  11. Can you see if it has food and water? unfortunately as long as there is some food water and shelter RSPCA won't get involved, if not then they should send someone out.
  12. You can report it to the RSPCA but I doubt they'd do much in a situation like this. Are you friendly with the neighbours? I'd chat to the owner before I reported them personally. If the dog has usually been well cared for its quite likely there could be a health issue which would explain the dogs weight.
  13. I thought he looked younger than that too! Anatolians have pretty good lifespans, he should have a good few years ahead of him. He's a gorgeous boy!
  14. Your hours are your hours and I don't think they're unreasonable. If they don't suit people they can go elsewhere.
  15. Debarking = maimed Desexing = happy happy joy joy
  16. I have a barker here and am pregnant and read that baby gets used to noises like that while it's still in the womb so that's what I'm relying on
  17. If the breeder was happy to care for puppy while she was away I'd get it. If not I'd probably wait.
  18. I don't know anything about this pound but if the conditions are as they have been described here, that is not acceptable. Having worked in a number of pounds/shelters it isn't difficult to treat the dogs in a decent fashion. Pens should be cleaned daily, faeces removed asap with a pooper scooper at least, raised beds with bedding and food and water bowls provided. Those are the basics and tbh I'm not surprised the RSPCA don't see a problem with these conditions.
  19. My Aussie was only about 8 months if I recall correctly :)
  20. Poor Molly! In the picture you linked she doesn't look underweight to me. Kangaroo seems to be the lowest on the list of allergies, have you tried her on that?
  21. reminds me of the whippet we met that started a game of chasey with my Aussie. She's used to winning but didn't have a chance and was permanently half a metre behind the whippet yelping out of frustration  they can move!
