Same here. Never had the need

16 hours in a crate is quite simply f***ed up. I don't support it at all. Both my dogs were toilet trained within about 3 weeks without using crates. They are also fine at the vets.

7 Day Old Baby Bitten By Family Dog
Dame Aussie replied to Scottsmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes, ^ that pretty well sums up my views as well. Mine too. I have no issue with people rehoming pets responsibly in such unexpected and difficult situations. I do have an issue with having a baby = get rid of the pets. -
That's perfect socialisation!

Yeah that's true. If they aren't willing to put in the work to keep baby and dog safe then yeah, probably better in the long run. -

Our guys sleep in the bedroom but we're already getting them used to being in the lounge at night for this very reason. You cant supervise if you're asleep though I can understand thinking baby was safe -

Yeah I often see pictures that make me anxious, babies taking food off dogs or up right in their faces :/ I love and trust my dogs but they will NEVER be left alone with a baby. We're already stocking up on play pens and baby gates etc  -

Trying to blame any certain breed/type for attacks is part of the problem. It means people with other "low risk" breeds are less diligent...the baby in the UK was killed by a small terrier. ANY dog can hurt or kill a child. Supervision is key. -
I don't think kirty is allowing her small animals to be stalked and chased etc. Good luck with it all.

This would be my guess

I've had 5 dogs and only one ever had her glands need to be expressed
-
Haha go Ernie

Both my guys burp occasionally, Lili more than Mosley, so I wouldn't be worried but if he never does it normally it might be worth even just giving the vet a call and asking if they think it's anything to worry about? Has he eaten anything different lately? Sorry just re-read and see no change in food. Does he seem uncomfortable or bloated?

Yeah in Vic its a yearly fee and can be into the hundreds.

Newbie Questions Esp About Fencing And Wildlife
Dame Aussie replied to Watto's topic in General Dog Discussion
My dogs wouldn't be happy being inside all the time so I think the option of being able to have them outside and unsupervised even for a few minutes is important. -
Argh Nix

This is true. I remember the stench in the car after having our Chis anal glands done Nothing else like it

That amount of exercise would be fine for my Aussie Shepherd. Agree with Lisa they mainly have two coat drops a year but unless you get a non shedding dog there will be hair around. re fencing, I would fence in a dog yard within the property, an Aussie (or any dog really) would easily be out with fences under 6ft or through gaps. My girl snapped a bird right out of the air at 4 months and broke its neck, really depends on the individual but they can have a pretty strong prey drive. Mine loves to chase. She isn't a barker, but she will alert bark occasionally or at thunder/fireworks.
