  1. I don't know about the RSPCA but most council pounds charge release fees, in VIC anyway.
  2. Same here. I don't know how I'd manage if someone else was around, because I am pedantic to the nth degree about doors and gates which are always the biggest issue for me in terms of their safety. I'm like this too. "Did you shut the gate?" "Shut the GATE!" Luckily OH is just as paranoid as me!
  3. For us the dogs are one of the things we never argue about
  4. Stray cats/kittens are taken to the pound in Vic, council will collect as long as they're contained. Not sure about other states.
  5. Most likely a coincidence but it was kind of funny!
  6. That's freaky, one of my dogs was sick with kennel cough at the same time I had pneumonia....
  7. Our two sometimes hump during play, if its that frequent and you haven't noticed any bleeding I'd say they're just playing
  8. They enter and then migrate in further and by the time there is an abscess the seed is well in there so you might not necessarily see an entry point. That sounds reasonable for a quote to me. Good luck with it all.
  9. I have two dogs who pee wherever they like and I've never noticed a smell..
  10. I'm a bit jaded  least I admit it, but it really isn't hard to find out where to look for a lost animal these days. I see people surrender animals every day without even a second of giving a toss.
  11. How is it $15 delivery if they're just up the road? I would accept the refund.
  12. I don't believe so. At some places it's a 24 hr turnaround.
  13. Oh crap I hope Lucy is alright. Hate ticks
  14. Yikes TSD! Gawd they're sneaky buggers : Thanks guys, I'll get some epiotic from work and some baby wipes :)
  15. We got ours sent through after we bought the puppy. Took a few weeks from memory.
  16. So Mosley has big floppy ears which our other dog cleans quite regularly  but today the vet commented that they were a bit grubby. No infection/issue but I'm wondering what people do for this? Our other dogs ears are pristine too but they are shaped differently :/ Is a liquid cleaner the best idea? Manual cleaning?
  17. The problem is what do they do? If he is the legal owner and they have no other contacts how do they determine who is fit and who isn't? Many people are aggressive without having health issues, I've seen it so many times. We often put holds on animals that are surrendered if we think the owner may come back which is a good way to prevent these situations. That's exactly what I was thinking. A 24-48 hour holding time. It does seem a very quick turn around. I feel for you guys, I truly do. Yeah, it depends on the different pounds too and whether they have the 24hr turn around policy which I've always thought wad too short but what are you gonna do :/ Again though I wont ever defend pts over a skin condition

  19. I'm not defending the dog being pts but working in a shelter myself, we get so many surrenders every day, you'd have to be a mind reader to figure out if every person surrendering is legit, including being aggressive as many of them are unfortunately, so I disagree with placing any blame on staff members who served him. Such a sad story
  20. Go Amber!!! What a champ :) Happy birthday pretty girl :)
