There's an adult that looks like this pup in the Glenfield Shelter thread in urgent rescues, impound 196 I think. Considering pup seems to have a country background, I would be very hesitant to suggest Aussie Shep. A mix of BC and/or Kelpie, ACD and usually Koolie if blue eyes are present being much more common in southern NSW.

Is often genetic to varying degrees (especially if more than one pup which may be able to be written off as an individual difference). Do you own the sire? And do you know the testicle status of his siblings, grandsire and his siblings? Even the granddam's silings might give you a clue? It has normally popped up somewhere before to show up at such a high volume.

Any of these? Ring Around the Collar Turquoise page

I've used them for very tiny possums and sugar gliders. They are very handy for that, and you can get them in Australia from wildlife supplies places.

Maybe let her know that many breeders will pay to fly a dog home to them. I would. But I wouldn't pay an asking price. That seems a bit rude TBH.

So when you look at the show schedule Toys are Group 1. The will be judged in alphabetical order, so will start with Australia Silky (correct me if I got that wrong guys!!) at the designated start time. Males will be judged first, in age order - youngest to oldest. Then females in the same order. Then the best male and female will compete for best of breed. The best of each age class may then compete as well - eg. baby puppy of breed, junior of breed etc. If you have time, cruise along before start time, pick a spot and park a chair to sit and watch. If you get confused with the order of things just enjoy the dogs. It may be worth making a post on here to see if there are any people going that you can meet up with. It can be a bit mystifying to watch classes coming and going from the ring without someone to bounce questions off. And lastly - have fun!! Even if confusing. The best time to approach exhibitors is after they've finished their class. So if you watch for breeds you like, watch the exhibitors until they are done in the ring and intrduce yourself. Most people love to talk about their breed (unless they've had a really bad loss I suppose... :D ).

We have Ursula which is three syllables and not a problem. But her nickname is Ursie-Gursie which is even longer.

Great pics guys! I can hardy believe all those little blos have grown into such beautiful puppies!! We have a few still unspoken for - which is not too bad for a litter this size in our breed. They are eight weeks today. My male has steadily fallen ever so slightly behind since weaning. Vet checked all clear. He just doesn't really like eating much. So he is still perfect, but perfect and insubstantial. If he was a bitch he would be fine, but he may not make it as a show male, just on size and substance. My second favourite male is fortunately not spoken for and is fantastic. In fact a dol-er nearly put their hand up for him but changed their mind - how lucky was that!? I'm really hoping to be able to run the smaller guy on, just in case it is a phase and he does turn out. Our first babies depart this weekend, to Sydney and fyling to Brisbane. Then two off to Perth next week. One is heading to South Afroca to an amazing show and breeding home which is very exciting, he will be with us until 12 weeks. Our surprise package is our runty guy, who nearly didn't get going at birth, and got squashed by mum just a week later. So I rescusitated him twice... He is just lovely - I always had half an eye on him but he is just getting more beautiful all the time. This is him, Alyosha Alektos (pending): My now keeper, Alyosha Alexander (pending) at seven weeks: And my beautiful and small boy, Alyosha Adonis (pending)at seven weeks:

This place - http://www.regalhounddesigns.com/ - make extra large ones especially for non-sighthound dogs. Their gallery also shows lots of shapes and sizes from Italian Greyhounds to Mastiffs. We get ours from them and have always been very happy with quality and price.

First Time Foster Carer Of A Pharoah Hound!
Alyosha replied to Carlo11's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh, happy Pharaohs? Goofballs. Absolute loveable clowns. The shivering and screaming I wouldn't pay much attention to - sighthounds can really bung on a scream for nothing much at all, and wet shortcoated sighthounds can get a good sooky shiver going, even when used to a warm pleasant bath. The sighthound scream of death is also not uncommon in having feet handled... Especially by strangers. Some need to be sedated to have nails trimmed... It is promising that he has not snapped at all, as he sounds like he is really feeling a bit of pressure. Showing teeth can be nervousness as well as aggression - more akin to nervous, "don't hurt me" sort of "smiling" than pure aggression. So although you may not feel it Carlo, you may have some positives going on!! One day at a time. We're all here for support if you need it. -
Thanks RottnBullies. Owners of bull breeds need to know where to find reference to that. It could be very important indeed.

Isn't there case law on this? From Qld?

First Time Foster Carer Of A Pharoah Hound!
Alyosha replied to Carlo11's topic in General Dog Discussion
You've really jumped in at the deep end of fostering!! Well done for taking him in. I'll second what SSM said and say chat to Fiona, and do pop into the Sighthound thread. We do lots of supporting each other and networking and are always happy to chat sighthounds or help any way we can. You're not alone. -
Another advertisment for buying an ANKC registered dog. Known parentage could become a more and more important thing for owners.

I have one who is a terrible puller. I never believed they really existed until I had to deal with her. She is not the brightest (in fact she may the "blondest" in my pack...), very instinctive and prey driven. She's an awesome huntress. If she sees a rabbit off lead it's pretty certainly a snack... On lead, my arm is a rubber band... The only thing that stops her being completely distracted by every tiny scent and movement is an Infin8 collar by Blackdog. I wouldn't doubt that many hunting breed's instincts (whether scent or sight or both) will in certain circumstances override their concern for treats or human pleasure. That's how they've been bred for a very long time.

I'm another that has seen bitches go to greater lengths than dogs. I've seen one who was just under 30kg smash through a solid timber gate - treated pine, and new not old. Although I've heard of males chewing through timber and or digging under colourbond. Add to that the stories of tying through wire - especially chainlink which provides physical support. My young male screamed the place down the last time we had a bitch in season, and continually tried to climb over or bite through solid welded wire to get to her. We had to have him locked in the dog trailer when she was in a run to stop him injuring himself. When she was shut in the kennel/ shed he could be out but he was still nuts. If she was in sight the screaming, trying to climb and fence biting was on. No doubt if we didn't have the secure pen he would've got in or hurt himself (or her) trying! I have friends who found their whippet tied with a big boofheaded mutt in their own backyard - with six foot colourbond fences. Once they untied he jumped the fence in one leap and was away. Bitch was off for an emergency spay which they had been putting off anyway. She had previously had one purebred litter which ended in a c-section as her pelvis was very narrow. A crossbred (especially boof-headed) litter could've spelt disaster!!

I had saggies on my one year old Borzoi after her first season. Was embarrassing!! I was worried people would think she had been bred and she was still a puppy! False pregnancy, she had milk for nearly two months...

It's one of several posibilities. Do you know if she's had a pseudo?

What a tool the man is.

Love the way opposition MPs fuel public hysteria for their own ends instead of considering fact or reason.

Double Digets For Puppies Expected In Next Litter
Alyosha replied to Tapua's topic in Breeders Community
And don't forget lots of washing powder/liquid/napisan!! It's one thing I wouldn't have thought of until someone mentioned it on here. -
They can also get pronounced mammary development (including milk production) during a pseudo or false pregnancy. Due to the reproductive system in dogs this is very common. Some bitches get it all the time - even if they've never been bred. Bitches may also come into milk if another bitch in the household whelps. In a dog pack other bitches will feed the pups of the alpha female.
