  1. Getting my DSLR today  so watch out for some really bad photos as i try and do a catch up on this challenge. I will need plenty of help.
  2. Hi Mrs TS, I personally prefer the environment of a club, by all means do some training yourself but you need to be sure you are training him the correct way, that's what you will learn at the club. Don't worry about the fact that he pulls and gets over excited when you go to training, he will settle down. The clubs are very familliar with dealing with over excited dogs and they will set you on the right path to a well behaved boy. Just do it, you will both enjoy it. just to make you feel better, I start back next week and i know i will have many moments with my lot.
  3. i have tried it all, you just have to learn to live with hair. I think it's a small price to pay for the joy they bring to my life.
  4. bio zet laundry detergent. Works a treat.
  5. looks like a Sebaceous Cyst to me, i wouldn't be worried unless it keeps getting bigger or is irritating him.
  6. Got mine and we also get an monthly email called "dog Blog". The website is being upgraded this month, about time it's embarrassing.
  7. something else you should consider is her hearing, she may not hear you approaching and gets startled when she suddenly sees you.

  12. I wouldn't breed with mine under 2 years, they are just not mature enough in my opinion
  13. I had an old Lab who had cortisone via an inhaler. She was fine with it, would see me get it ready every night and just stand there waiting. I used a child's mask and spacer and as piper said you put the mask over her nose and puff the inhaler into the spacer. I would then wait until she took a few breaths then that's it. It made a huge difference to her but wasn't cheap. I was lucky that the pharmacy i got it from started giving it to me at cost, he was a Labrador lover.
  14. Don't do it Lab pups require a lot of one on one training and take it from someone who has been there done that, it's hard work raising 2 of the same age. My advise is to wait at least a year before getting a second Lab.
  15. Your poor Tabby, gives meaning to the expression "if looks could kill" Great work, merry christmas
  16. how hard is it to sent a photo :D , you don't have to become best friends with this person. So much information can be gathered by seeing how the pup has turned out which in turn will benefit future breeding programs. For someone involved in showing i would have thought that was important to you.
  17. I am so sorry for all of you who are having a rough time, i am finding it hard to express what i feel. All i can say is i am thinking of you all. Sending a extra big hug for you LMWS i can't begin to image the sadness you feel right now.
  18. Congratulation Shellbyville Hope all are doing well this morning and you managed to get some sleep.

  21. I think you are right Pointeeblab, i was just giving my girls a cuddle and had a smell of their feet and it is some what like doritos come on everyone else fess up, i know you all went to check, surely I'm not the only silly one .
  22. I have been out of the show scene for quite some time now and it’s interesting to read that the same issues that were around then are still being raised today. I am surprised though to hear others say that there is a lack of mentors. I know when I first started out there was plenty of help to be found. Maybe I was lucky that I started at a time when the numbers in the ring were high and there was plenty of experienced people to seek advise from and most were willing to lend a hand and there was those who had been around a shorter amount of time but still very welcoming to the newbies. I was also lucky to have a great mentor when I begun who was very willing to help me seek advise from others with skills that she lacked. Had it not been for her I would have most likely given up at my first show after a long time breeder told me that for me to do any good with my girl I would need to go to the country shows to get any points. Her advice was the type of advise that gives the sport a bad name and the type I chose to ignore. New people will always be entering the show scene and some will stay and others will depart for a variety of reasons. No amount of mentoring will keep them all there. Saying we need to change the culture is all good but in reality I don’t think it will ever happen. Plenty have tried and and from what I have been reading here nothing has really changed. I know when I was on the Lab club (nsw) committee it was a point that often come up, I think every club struggles with getting new people involved and keeping them involved seems even harder. The reality is that the show ring is an event of competition and the truth is everyone is there to win, some are happy if the wins are just every now and then but some aren’t and some in the process of trying will use politics and backstabbing to get there. Even if all the politics and backstabbing were removed the truth is people would still come and go, we all have different views and directions in life. Having said that I don’t for one minute condone what goes on and nor do I believe we should stop trying to wipe it out, but even if the red carpet was rolled out for every new person and they where given a personal long time breeder and exhibitor to guide them step by step there are those that would come and go. Gotta, I agree with Mercedes you are lucky to have a friendly environment for showing but I don’t think it’s the case in all states but I do believe you need a think skin to survive but most of all I think you need a passion for the breed. Sadly for me I lost my passion for showing but I still have a passion for the breed.
  23. i think I'm in love :D and a little bit jealous, she is divine
  24. I recommend Gold coast dog obedience club as well. There are lots of very experienced trainers who are very keen to help. They get a big from me.
