  1. I am doing a photography course and we have to do an 'Theme' assignment, i haven't be able to get much time during the day to get the camera out so i thought i would do 'painting with light' as my theme so i could work on it at night. I took the camera and a torch out side tonight and got a few shots. Am i on the right track? What could i do to improve them? Please don't be afraid to criticise, i need to learn.
  2. If the xray didn't show anything then i would say she is having a phantom. I have known of bitches to show all the signs, even get milk and go into labour and produce nothing. she proves me wrong.
  3. with slow shutter speed, camera was set at F11 and 15 second shutter speed. you click the shutter button then the teacher moved a torch over the outline of his body.
  4. NO!!!!!! it's too young to be leaving mum and litter mates, go elsewhere.
  5. It's $200 for the course, i was pretty clueless so i have got so much from it already so it's been great value for me. photobucket deleted some of my photos
  6. I changed our lounge from cream to charcoal! Cause I couldn't handle the fur. looks like I'm destined to stay with black labs now A home isn't complete without a yellow one, BM! You soon learn to not care about the different coloured hair! I second that RS, i like to think of it as always having my girls with me no matter where i go
  7. Yep, it's Paul, is that who you had?
  8. Hi Mish Could be the same one you have done. It's at Ashmore tafe, runs for 8 weeks, the first 3 where all in the classroom then last night at southport in the park opposite Australia fair and next 2 weeks we go to the teachers studio and then a beach shoot and then the last one back at tafe. It's very relaxed and i am getting so much from it, i looked at doing the Bluedog course but didn't think i would get all the basic stuff i needed, was it a good course?
  9. oops got so excited i forgot to add the photos
  10. Last night was week 4 of the photography course i'm doing and we moved out of the class room and put into practice many of the things we learnt the previous weeks. I feel like a lightbulb has just turned on in my brain, with just a few turns and clicks it's all starting to make sense. I know i still have a long long way to go but i am so excited at what i am able to achieve with the camera and starting to get the grip of what all those number mean and have fallen in love with the M setting. Just a few shots from last night, there were plenty of crappie ones but that's what learning is all about.
  11. just had a quick read of the guidelines and it all seems to be pretty basic. Just one thing which does concern me is this 'A separate quarantine area for each animal, birthing animal or female animal with a litter must be provided in a comfortable, draught- free area away from people and other animals.' "away from people" so does that mean we can no longer whelp and raise the litter inside the house, mine spend the first few weeks in my family room.
  12. Thanks, i totally missed it. Quite a bit to read, i will study it later. I a bit brain dead tonight.
  13. ? There are more people breaking the law than following it, if that were the case. Many people don't have 15 metres length of dwelling space in Sydney? I'm confused. I have two of my own dogs and sometimes two fosters - should they not be allowed to sleep in the house? In NSW the laws says - no. Any more than 2 have to be housed at least 15 metres from a dwelling or a place used to prepare food. The Gold coast are running a pilot program where every one who wants to keep an entire dog have to have a licence and be inspected before they can do that - they are assumed to be breeders. That is being watched as a potential model for the rest of Australia to follow. If that happens it means your homes will be inspected to see if they comply with the mandatory codes before you are able to breed and you will be inspected periodically to ensure you are following the laws. I have search everywhere on the gold coast council web site the only info i can find about keeping entire animals is this "Owners of entire dogs or cats both purebred & cross breed who are or intend to breed must obtain a Breeders permit and adhere to a code of practice. The checklist is a form to help you determine if you are complying with the Standards as set out in the Code of Practice. Submission of your application does not mean immediate approval of your permit, an officer must inspect your property to determine if you are complying with the Breeder Code of Practice. " nothing about needing a license for keeping entire dogs. Can't even find the checklist they talk about. I have just re-registered mine and didn't get any information sent about any changes even though they are listed as entire. The council don't seem to be doing much at all about communicating of any changes.
  14. ;) We talked about lenses last night at the photography course I'm doing and my head was spinning by the time i got home so your timing with this is perfect. I'm sure i will have some questions at some point but for now you have helped my decipher what some of my scribble notes are from last night.
  15. That was my thought as well, sounds like she is getting over excited rather than stressed. Can you not go to training but instead of joining the class do your own thing on the side lines where you would still get the advantage of the working with distractions around her.
  16. I certainly understood that was your message. This was the reason the vet practice i attend won't endorse triennial intervals. Can't say i blame the vets for covering themselves but as a owner i am happy to take responsibility.
  17. i think you will find the answer to your question in the first post Characteristics: Good tempered, very agile (which precludes excessive body weight or substance). Excellent nose, soft mouth, keen love of water. Adaptable, devoted companion.
  18. I had one of mine to the vet 2 weeks ago and i raised the subject of vaccinating every 3 years. After a lengthy discussion my vet agreed that the yearly vaccine given every 3 years was most likely to be sufficient but due to the practice policy she was still required to recommend it be given yearly, with the exception of the kennel cough vaccine which she felt should still be required to be given yearly. The biggest concern she had was that many would not bring their animals in for general check ups within the 3 year period and general heath issues would be missed. I had already made the decision to vaccinate mine triennially but as mine will be going into boarding soon and the vet hospital practice policy is still yearly it then means i don't have a current vaccination certificate and they would be rejected at the boarding kennels. The kennels are happy to except an animal on the 3 yearly regime provided the certificate reflects this. Mine as therefore all being vaccinated again and will not be done for another 3 years. There is still a lot of work required to get a common practice agreed on.
  19. I use a worm farm for the dog pooh ( 3 Labs, so a fair amount of pooh ) I also add food waste and the worms eat the lot. I don't put the pooh in for 5 days after i have wormed the dogs and have had no problems. I don't think you could put worms in a tumble style because of the way the worms work, you would be constantly mixing the fresh with the old and i don't think the worms like that.
  20. I do the hot towel thing too, if they are a bit grubby but i can't bath them i put a little shampoo in the water as well. I find it works best if you have the water as hot as you can stand it.
  21. i have a commodore wagon and have a liner which is moulded to be the exact fit, it's wonderful as it is really tough and easy to pull out on hose off, some hair does get under the edges but not a great deal and it saves having to vacuum the whole cargo area. I only have a cheapie barrier that i picked up at aldi, i do have the proper full barrier but it's a pain to take out. I have tie down strips on the floor which i have attached lead to and then clip to the harness or collars. My lot are all really good travellers and the cheap barrier does the job i need. it's a bit hard to see it all here
