Isn't this the place with an area at the back that is a bit dicey with it's fencing? You were worried the big dog would get in and hurt your little dogs or has that all been fixed up? Don't want to rain on your parade but people need to know.

Food For Our New Great Dane Puppy
Rebanne replied to zeketdot's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep, I'd be interested to know. Possibly because it's cheap? maybe but they also might have found the pups do well on it. I don't feed expensive puppy food to my greyhounds, grows them too fast. -

ask your breeder why they choose to feed Uncle Albers. -
Strange I would have thought you had seen it several times over the years.

agree. Why do so many dog owners think others will be useless? Never meant to imply anything of the sort. Everyone was a novice at point. Just pointing out that there are lots of abandoned lab and lab mixes because a lot of people believe the marketing. Certainly, they could be awesome owners. But dismissing the idea of a puppy class to ME as a lab owner, rings alarm bells. They were getting mini essay's from a friend of a friend, goodness only knows what else they discounted, or took notice of, all information is 3rd hand. I've never taken a puppy class in my life. I am currently mentoring a new dog owner who bought one of my pups, she is doing a great job, no puppy class there either, most wouldn't know what to do with a greyhound anyway. and I have seen young out of control dogs in the hundreds in pounds, I worked in one for 10 years.

A good breeder will help them and while a lot of labs are exuberant, not all are. I'd be trying to steer these people towards a good breeder.

Australian Pet Insurer Urged To Drop Premium Bills After Death Of Anim

Agree totally, you claim you have to pay the policy out -
Why not? Why? Rebanne I certainly hope I didn't come across that way. There is no reason why this family can't be fantastic dog owners but the fact is many young labs end up in pounds or locked in the back yard because of their delightful(?) exuberance. So its important she knows what she's in for. The more information they have the better. Yes you and others have come across as very judgemental.

My first dog was a GSD x Cattle dog, no internet back then and no judgemental strangers discussing me on a forum thank Dog!

I had a greyhound with it in his shoulder, PTS 3 weeks after diagnosis. If it ever strikes again I would PTS same day. Sam's Story

Do You Love One Breed But Not Love A Similar Breed?
Rebanne replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
Me too. I'd love to see show greyhounds run. I once asked a friend who used to have both show and racing dogs why they looked so different and he said it's because the show greyhounds are bred from coursing lines. I'd love to see them course. I wonder how much stamina and agility they'd have. they are different because race bred greyhounds have been bred for over 100 years now to race on race tracks and short distances. Plenty of show bred greys overseas course very successfully. Would love to do it here. -

I agree yes labs don't need clipping, but I clip some labs because after all is discussed, that is what the owner wants. I'm not going to judge an owner at the end of the day who gets the dog bathed and clipped and brings it into the house as a loved family member, instead of leaving it to get packed with undercoat, never bathed and turfed out of the home because it sheds or smells or whatever it is they think is the issue. They really love their dogs and are doing more to care for the dog than many owners. Technically Maltese or shihtzu or loads of other breeds etc should not/ don't need clipping either, but no one ever gets up in arms about them being shaved. well said Gruflife

Sentinel Spectrum And Advantix

if there are no ticks in the area why treat your dog with even more chemicals? My dogs have been up and down the Hume to Sydney 10 times this year staying at Windsor and I've never even considered subjecting them to extra chemicals. -
What Price Would You Deem Reasonable For
Rebanne replied to OSoSwift's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think the same as daily boarding as you still have to clean and disinfect the runs. The only thing you are not doing is feeding them. -
If i Not to be rude but isnt that a little bit of cheating? Your dog has a problem which would preclude it from breeding and after rehab it goes on as an entire dog to win shows? If it's becoming more common in your breed and this type of thing is happening it's not surprising. Champion on paper = $$ for puppies. I didn't see anywhere where the dog was bred. Several years ago a GSD owner on here admitted her dog had severe HD. She was going to show him to his title then desex him.
