  1. I agree yes labs don't need clipping, but I clip some labs because after all is discussed, that is what the owner wants. I'm not going to judge an owner at the end of the day who gets the dog bathed and clipped and brings it into the house as a loved family member, instead of leaving it to get packed with undercoat, never bathed and turfed out of the home because it sheds or smells or whatever it is they think is the issue. They really love their dogs and are doing more to care for the dog than many owners. Technically Maltese or shihtzu or loads of other breeds etc should not/ don't need clipping either, but no one ever gets up in arms about them being shaved. well said Gruflife

  3. They had better un-wonk  Yep that was me with my Parti dogs  Are you going to Albury? cause we will be there, then at Holbrook. Come and say hello
  4. and a couple of head shots, gotta love wonky baby ears
  5. Lovely babies everyone and I agree Mirawee, if I had a JR it would have to be a rough coat. So gorgeous Weisnjac. My new baby is Brantarby Wicked Witch, 1st show on the weekend at The Rock
  6. if there are no ticks in the area why treat your dog with even more chemicals? My dogs have been up and down the Hume to Sydney 10 times this year staying at Windsor and I've never even considered subjecting them to extra chemicals.
  7. I think the same as daily boarding as you still have to clean and disinfect the runs. The only thing you are not doing is feeding them.
  8. If i Not to be rude but isnt that a little bit of cheating? Your dog has a problem which would preclude it from breeding and after rehab it goes on as an entire dog to win shows? If it's becoming more common in your breed and this type of thing is happening it's not surprising. Champion on paper = $$ for puppies. I didn't see anywhere where the dog was bred. Several years ago a GSD owner on here admitted her dog had severe HD. She was going to show him to his title then desex him.
  9. Don't ever get a Greyhound, they live to kill stuffies!
  10. Ok OCD is very much something that can just happen, occurs in fast growing dogs, greyhounds can suffer from it. Usually a simple op is all it takes to fix it. My greyhound man told me about it.
  11. Genetic does not mean hereditary though. Breeders may not have ever had anything like this show up. Genetic things can crop up in any thing that lives.
  12. Breeders don't make a living from selling pups, at least ethical ones don't. What breed? I have bought a dog that turned out to be a lemon ( so to speak ) and bred one. Neither the other breeder or myself set out to do so, sometimes sh!t just happens. I'd be asking to see the results of the health tests.
  13. My backyard is divided up and I can put different dogs in different areas but I always make sure the pup/s are not next to the older dog cause they do fence run - alot. I do not need the injuries that can occur and my neighbours do not need the excited barks at 6 am! :D
  14. I'd just halve the one you have making it 3.5 X 3. If most of the time they are free running they'll sleep in their dog run. If you have two 7 metre long runs next to each other chances are they will fence run and that's not so good for young or old joints
  15. I think you have what it takes to do this successfully. And while I would never sell you a greyhound puppy or youngster, an older greyhound would be very happy as long as it was walked twice a day. I also think you should go an older dog whatever the breed. They are more settled usually and you know what you are getting.
  16. for "official" results when you want to share them with buyers or breed clubs etc then get a vet to do them. Otherwise do them yourself
  17. yes please and come and join us here http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/105867-greyhounds/
  18. Might need a new computer or drivers or something. I had no trouble watching it, was great. And I had a great day showing as well. What did you show?
  19. And I wouldn't be allowing your dog to chase others either. The nervous dog are also entitled to have a space to run. Can you call him off?
  20. my 2cents worth. I see both points of view. Did it hurt you to walk your dog on lead for 10 minutes while the older dog just pottered around happily? No. Should the guy expect other dogs to not enter or to leave every time he wants his dog to be able to potter around? No. Give and take.
