How very sad. I honestly believe that my children could safely remove toys, food and even bones from my dogs - but am I willing to test that theory? Hell no!! My children have it absolutely drummed into them that they are NEVER allowed to approach the dogs when they are eating. My daughter is only 3.5 years old and last week she tried to take a bone away from Champa - she was so quick and I ROARED at her to stay away from him. I think I scared her a bit, but so what? He didn't bat an eyelid but as I said, its just not worth the risk.

LOL!

One of my dogs gets this too, and it has never been a problem. She is 10 now and no issues. Still loves the beach too!

ROFL!!! That is so cute!!

She is so gorgeous!!

I don't know how you do it. I was supposed to have my Dane put to sleep weeks ago, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I guess my situation is different because my dog is only 18 months old, and to me, she seems healthy and happy. The vet says she is in a lot of pain, but I just don't see it. I feel sick every time I think about it.

Finally Acheron Played With Another Dog!

Awww that is so fantastic!! Having a dog with special needs myself, I can totally understand how excited you are. Go Archeron! -
My dog Maisie has become fearful of fireworks (and storms) in recent years so I left her indoors when we went out tonight. She doesn't do anything really, just sits there shaking and panting. We got home before midnight so I kept her in with me. Some idiot over the back was setting of crackers and Maisie was barking her head off at them! She was panting too, but not too bad. The other dogs have no idea what the fuss is about!

Top 10 Surgically Removed From Pets
Kirty replied to dogbesotted's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My dogs have eaten just about everything. Thankfully though they all seem to have iron stomachs and everything has passed through eventually. Our Dane has a sock fetish and I am forever picking up pooped-out socks. Blerk! She also swalled a denim gardening glove once but that obviously didn't go down right, so she threw it back up - at which point Champa pounced on it and swallowed it. And yep, picked that up in the poops the next day. Champa's speciality though is stone fruit - we used to have a plum tree and he would climb the tree to get the fruit. I think the record was six stones in one poop - OUCH! -
What about "Sparklin" - I think it sounds cool and you can easily add names onto it. Justpeachy / Juspeachy My prefix (cats - which I will probably never use lol) is Amaismi which is a mish-mash of my dog's name (Maisie) and 'amaze me'.

What's In Those Fly-trap Things From Bunnings?
Kirty replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I bought some and they are definitely pet safe. I remember it saying it was made of natural materials and was perfectly safe for pets. :D -
My Dane was one of 16 pups, all surviving. Those pups look fairly old though (as in, older than 8 weeks). I hope she has homes lined up for them!!

Haha look at her sad face! Definitely greyhound! LOL! She definitely resembles the Kangaroo Dog pic posted, just different colour.

I'd still love to see some breeders get their pedigree dogs tested. IMO it is a absolute crock and I have no idea how they get away with it...

He hasn't jumped a fence in 4-5 years - previously, he used to do it a fair bit. And now I have just come home to find my bedroom covered in crap courtesy of Pia. I seriously don't know what is wrong with my dogs. Seriously. I mean fair enough if she had to go, but she has walked all through it, then run around the house and jumped on my bed (and my brand new doona cover ). Why? Why does she have to walk through it? ETA: Oh crap, are you serious? Am I going to get a fine for having a dog at large or something?

So... I get home from work yesterday afternoon in a mad rush - I need to get the house spotless and organised for my son's party on Sunday. Pull into the driveway and a bag of rubbish has been pulled out of the garbage bin and there is rubbish strewn all over the driveway. I cursed the crows momentarily, before realising they couldn't possibly have pulled that out of the bin... Crap, Champa!! Open the gate, sure enough, no Champa. He has jumped the front gate (which is about 6ft high and he is a 9yo dog with a shoulder problem). So I spend 15 minutes driving the streets, knocking on doors, calling his name and then my phone rings. Yep, its the pound. Champa has been impounded. So I drive out to the pound to pick up my stinking dog - who is completely bloated because of all the rubbish he has eaten. $160 later and I have my dog back - who by the way was very excited at being in the pound and not the least bit excited to see me. Merry Christmas Champa - you giant turd-burger!!

Why are you all so quick to knock the RSPCA in ACT? They are the only RSPCA who run on a no-kill basis and they do a great job. But I guess you guys do so much rescue yourself so of course, you have every right to sit back and laugh.
-
Yes, you're right PF. I knew it looked like something but couldn't put my finger on it. Maremmas are a guarding breed - no doubt the toddler scared it and it was doing its job. Shame for all involved.

I think Underdog do classes on a Saturday?
-
Wow, he's gorgeous!
-
He is gorgeous!! He looks to be a similar colour to my Pia, a really yellow brindle.
-
Yes and perhaps she was aggressive but the journo didn't want to write about that because it might stop people being so sympathetic to the dog? Who bloody knows. All I know is that my local RSPCA do a brilliant job. They rehome old dogs, bull breed dogs, dogs with special needs, etc and the staff are great. Stop tarring every RSPCA with the same brush. Annie, believe it or not, some people have first-hand experience and knowledge about rescue situations and just because you don't like it, doesn't mean its not true.

Some of mine are tattooed, some are not. I always prefer to have female dogs and cats done, but males are not so much of an issue because its so obvious.
