  1. Get a Chessie MM Just teasing. You getting another lab? I must be the only person who has no desire for another dog.
  2. Between work/family and Lincoln's toe/Toby's allergies I haven't made once since last time you saw me there. I might try to make it this Thursday if it's not too cold. I don't like the drive to Eden Hills, I hate driving back streets at night. ;) It will be much better in summer.
  3. No problem RS. Does Ruby know COP? I really want to watch one because I know it means change of position but I still don't really understand what it is. This obidience stuff baffles me. :p
  4. Come down to the lower oval at 8pm and we'll do some training :p I'm there tonight too if you want to head down. One evening a week is enough driving for me. I will be at the lower oval at 8 to get some tips! Plus if you want I can be your judge in SFE practice.
  5. I have heard Helena is very good. I am hoping to get some help as I am a newb handler and it is starting to show (especially since I am the first breed out all the time so dont get a chance to watch the way a judge wants the dogs moved around before I go in) . Plus it will help get the pup used to being undercover. :p
  6. Wazzat it is Helena's class I will be going too will you be there week after next or just the Xolos? Thats awesome you will be there RS I need someone to demonstrate the 100% correct position of the dog sitting on the left, I get confused how far forward he should be and how close.
  7. I am not showing again until July! Think I better head down to show classes so me (and Lincoln) don't forget everything. Anyone else at K9 on Tuesdays? Especially obidience people so I can get some feedback on my handling and training? (Why did you move so far away Ptolomy )
  8. I have started training both hands in the middle, from what I have read/seen I assumed it was the best way. Anyone care to enlighten a total obidience newb?
  9. Alarm bells are ringing here. I don't know one ethical breeder who would let a pup go so early. Go to the White Swiss shepard thread or contact some of the breeders on this forum to see if your breeder checks out.
  10. I hope Im not the only DOLer there! Might be another Chessie there
  11. Also it is probably better to bring home the pup at 8 weeks as 6 - 8 weeks is a critical social period for dogs where they learn from thier siblings and dam. See if you can purchase a copy of agility right from the start which has loads of agility related exercises you can do with a pup that dosent involve equipment.
  12. Anyone know where to find a REALLY dark brown leather martingale lead? Not for right now but when I have some money
  13. BB what if you had a bitch that performed really well but developed a genetic disease or had huge difficulties mating/whelping? Surely performance is not the only criteria? I come from a dual purpose breed where more dogs are used purely for sport then show but most top lines have both. However breeding for looks and health has not affected the temprament and working ability of the breed which is just as strong now as 100 years ago. We have many desexed dogs competing in field trials that may not make the grade confirmation wise but often have litter sisters/brothers competing that are entrie but never reach the same level due to having other duties (showing breeding ect) however our breed carries on and had been unwavering in type since the early 1900's because we don't breed based on one aspect but several, uniformity is important to purebreds or your not breeding the same breed but evolving a new one.
  14. I think we need to make a special topic for people who know everything and call it 'Puppy Buying for the Consumer Market' and the people there can just post thuer idealistic but unrealistic borderline insulting crap to themselves and anyone who cares and bit try to tarnish many highly respected breeders and excellent owners. The forum is for people who are above learning. Also someone remind me how to block peoples posts again lest they decided to venture out if thief special forum and 'educate' us all.
  15. I taught Lincoln RS it's so adorable I can have him sitting with a ring of treats around him and he is trying so hard not to even look at them because he knows I have the food that he gets but they are so tempting! :D
  16. My mum fed all the carrots to the sheep so now I have to train Lincoln with apple! :D Not happy. I have to say Lincolns training is going on schedule (we are working on fast square sits and makibd obidience sit positions very high value) but I am feeling very unmotivated with Toby and agility right now.
  17. I have sent off all the paperwork but not heard back so I hope I am going!
  18. My family thinks I am odd for being so dissaointed his leg was shaved. So it's nice to see DOLers think the same. Today when I call to book his follow up appointment I will make sure to get a note put on his file.
  19. I don't think it will make much of a difference since he isn't a coated breed but they shaved like a 4 by 8cm patch for onf needle. Hopefully it will be back by winter festival.
  20. I didn't ask but I did tell them he was a show dog. But I didn't think he would need to be shaved to have a nail removed, he was only supposed to have a local anastetic
  21. They shaved Lincolns leg! No show this weekend. He is seriously groggy.
  22. Masons Mom for Toby I use Cortic DS 1% from the pharmacy when he is only itchy in one section (I.e this past week in his foot) it's non toxic but if ge ingested a large amount it would give him the runs so I cover the area lightly, it costs $10 for a 30g tube from the chemist.
  23. I can go pick Lincoln up at 6 I have a friend driving me so i can cuddle him all the way home.
  24. The day we all went to piney lakes Lincoln did something and since then he keeps ripping the wound bigger and bigger until now the nail was basically falling out of the bed. We have been going to the vets but they kept telling me just to bandage it and that it will heal. It's his leftmost claw on his left fore (Lincoln has no dewclaws)
  25. Because they don't vet the dogs before people go into the ring so they just do it.
