  1. Well done ValleyCBR on your first ever points yesterday - never mind about today - there is always another show Thanks again for lending me your grooming tools yesterday too - "note to self" - I promise to come more prepared next time. A brush is hardly grooming tools! Thanks for lending me treats.
  2. Lincoln got his first points yesterday and was non awarded today for being too young. Also did show n go with Toby and was happy with intesity and speed over the jumps! Waiting for RS to come with news!
  3. MM Tobys foot has ended up the same as Masons! Just his right fore but he has licked it red raw. Did you put any cream on Mason or just antihistamines?
  4. I think showing is all about the mindset and having the right people to hang out with at the show. I have only been showing for 3 months but I think going to a show is inviting everyone to think they can judge your dog so that is why people you don't know feel they can make comments about your dog/handling ect they might just be trying to help in rhier own way ( and if they aren't pretend that they are, but they are just socially akward) Also I think the other part is that I don't take it too seriously (e.g Its 8.20am my dog is in a show at 12.30 and he is outside playing in the mud, I will clean him up but I am not going to stress over it, just let him be a dog). However the only times I get down at shows is when I am there without any company.
  5. RS Toby is a scardey dog about some things and when he works himself into a state about something I just give it a break for a week or two then reward for being near the item, interact with it ect. I find if I push him he will pick up on my frustration and become more and more frightened.
  6. I will be showing Sat and Sunday at k9. I don't have a special show suit yet, keeping my eye out for a red one or a light blue it green one. Anything dark will wash Lincoln out becauseof how dark he is.
  7. Hmm either my agility failure kelpie or my show dog that looks like a muppet. You just wait till I start doing obidience :D
  8. I will be there for showing. First on in the gundog ring at 12.30 I will get there a lot earlier though to cone watch some obidience and laugh at RS trying to set up her new shelter
  9. That makes it easier for me! Then I don't have to sit through labs/goldens in the parade and then I can go watch agility for a bit. :D
  10. It was kind of akward since I was the only girl. Have you gotten to have a look at agility right from the start yet Rs? I will be bringing it to read Sat so when I come hang out at obidience you can have a look
  11. When I was a kid we all used to go to the toilet in the bush rather then walk all th way home. I think I could still do it if I was 100% sure no one could see me. Does anyone else have a dog that snore? Lincoln is so noisy cuddled up next to me
  12. I was hoping that about the retrieve. The obidience stuff will be very gradual, it sounds like a lot but there is 45 days till the seminar.
  13. Also do you know if we will be under the dome on the weekend?
  14. Which Sunday and where? Is it obedience and/or agility? At K9 for agility this Sunday (I think) as well as gun dog club show. ST how does the parade work if it starts from pointers? What about Weis?
  15. I am starting more serious training with Lincoln as of tomorow! So hopefully by the rally seminar he will have a sit, down, front and finish. Plus I will keep working on bombproofing him for the show ring and shaping a free stack now I am happy with his hand stack. For anyone who has trained retrieve using the Chong method do you know if the initial shaping of holding a dumbell correctly can be done in short sessionsover time or does it have to be grouped togther? After owning crate games for so long and watching it like 4 times I am finally going to start it with Toby!
  16. Is anyone doing the show and go on Sunday?
  17. See if you can get your hand on Advanced Labrador Breeding/Reach fot the Stars by Mary Roslin Williams. She uses the method and describes it in her book. No idead if she is actually succesful, would have to ask lab people.
  18. Amypie they probably realise you are like there #1 Free Shipping promotion agent in WA
  19. Go to Dman and have a look, they do slip and clip.
  20. Maybe I won't come hang out in the photography thread till I have some money to spare then.
  21. I couldn't fin his email but if you PM me it I am happy to type him up an eloquent email now, especially since I know a poodle may be a soft spot of his and these oodles are driving it to extinction.
  22. I have a Dman tug lead and I love it! So well made, arrived so quickly and very strong. Plus the one I got made had real rabbit fur entwined in so its great for my dog who is not so tug motivated in public because he will still tug it!
