  1. I can't believe he is the same little puppy I saw! Lincoln will be huge soon too. A 9 point BOB is awesome well done
  2. Use another 'clicker' for the other dog maybe then? You can use a word or even something like a bike bell. I am clicker training both my dogs atm but the dog in the crate/not in the room is not being trained and understands.
  3. Maybe talk to the breeder about what you want from your dog and which traits you would like. Lincoln is an incredibly calm focused dog, however will play for hours with Toby. If he was a horse I would say he is bombproof but green and egar . However the focused part of Lincoln's nature comes from the breed and his calmness probably comes from his awsome socialization as a pup from the breeder.
  4. Ok. I won't be going then and glad I now know the rules.
  5. Nynka thanks for the info I honestly didn't know I have only been to 4 shows myself, so I am a total newb. If I can't go its not the end of the world. And I have heard breed lectures won't look at dogs under 12 months (plus thier is no Chessie lecture scheduled this year)).
  6. So the scenario is that I got my appendix out on Thursday, I own a rare breed and thier is an open show tonight. I am thinking of maybe attending the show but getting a friend to handle Lincoln for me, only he isn't a member of CAWA, is this allowed? I am obviously feeling up to sitting, walking around ect I just can't run BUT I think it would be a shame to not show Lincoln because the trainee judge tonight most probably won't have seen a Chesapeake before so it will be educational. Thoughts?
  7. The more I think about it I mostly agree with her too, especially about always teaching tricks to keep her dogs minds sharp! But I can see people out there who would read her methods wrong and start jumping drills on thier 8 week old puppies.
  8. I am pretty sure my Lincoln shows against his sister who is the cutest little girl! Congratulations!
  9. Lilly the oldest is so my dad's dog. She still won't listen to me :D . However when we got Lilly I was only 7 so that probably had a lot to do with it. However I walked Lilly the most, spent the most time with her, trained her ect, She just never saw me as an equal. Toby is mostly my dog BUT if mum or dad does something great with him (i.e walks him or plays fetch) he will be thiers until something better comes along. Lincoln seems to prefer me and sooks when I leave, but would do anything for food.
  10. I just found out the empty block next door is a proposed 240 unit retirement village!!!! :D So we like Mirawee will probably be up and moving from the area soon. Just the thing I need to hear in my sick bed. The developer is coming over Monday and it will take all my strength not to spit in his face
  11. Ok so if you have not heard of Silvia Trakman her website is here: Click here She believes and teaches many things that are the total opposite of mainstream, yet she is hugely succsesful. Some of her beliefs are: - she prematurely aged her Samoyed by retiring it from agility when she should have kept running it to keep it young (it had HD) - she believes if she misses agility training for more then 3 weeks with her epileptic 10yo dog it will have seizures - she starts her dogs training at 7 weeks, she starts jumping at a young age but does not do jumping drills as she believes that occasional jumping (at less then full height) at a young age is less stressful on joints then waiting till a dog is 12 months and suddenly jumping it high -she teaches running contacts to all dogs because she believes that if your not going fast thier is no point Anyway I am in awe of her (wether she is crazy or genius) as her Pry shep La is probably the most succsesful dog ever. Just wanted to see what some other thoughts were? (Or anyone else feel a similar way about abother trainer?)
  12. I have not used it yet but would use it if there was a comment breaching forum rules (i.e naming and shaming, cro
  13. I think Lincoln and Lilly would start gnawing on my legs if I forgot! Those two will let me know when its dinner time (and for Lincoln his other meal times). Toby has gone without dinner after training sometimes when he gets lots of treats but he dosen't seem to mind that much, he isn't a pig like my other two.
  14. iSqueaks have been a life saver the past two days since I have been sick and can't exercise/train the dogs. Parents take an iSqueak and play fetch with Toby (who never fectched pre-iSqueak) with Lincoln chasing after Toby trying to get in on the action! Works like a charm.
  15. I think Lincoln is probably the only one who could pass for a guide dog in training (sorry guys ) because he is the quietest of the lot (or maybe Jenna ). Except yesterday he was being really exuberant so I wouldn't let him up on the couch so he ran in the other living room and peed on that couch :D . It was so a dominance thing as he has NEVER peed anywhere except outside or near doors before, so now the little poo is banned from all couches. (He is now bigger then Toby and probably weighs over 20kgs) My scars are really tiny RosieFT, the one on my belly button is like 3 cm and the other two are really small, low down and about 1cm. No stitches, they glued me up! The belly button one hurts because they cut through my muscles and so my muscles are aching. But my neck hurts more and my throat is killing me. Hope those of you tracking today have fun and if no one is taking a puppy can someone ask what execrises they would ?
  16. Yes camera in through the belly button and two inscions on the lower abdomen. Masons mom I'm about the biggest sook in the world so I can't see myself overdoing it at all.
  17. I was feeling so much worse before the appendix came out. :D I'm not feeling too bad but scared of taking the dogs anywhere atm in case they pull or jump up and pull my wounds open. I am hoping that I will be back in action by mid next week as I don't want to lose much training time. I am recovering better then I though since I was in surgery this time yesterday, amazing how small the inscions are! If I am feeling better Sunday I might come down to the show with Lincoln, but I would have to get one of my guy friends to come down with me and do the lifting/puppy holding/showing.
  18. I wont be there tomorow, I have just come home from having my appendix out at the hosiptal, so I have 3 little scars ;) (Thats also why I missed training Wednesday and yesterday nights) I was so looking forward to doing tracking with Lincoln ;) Anyway I best go back to bed before the hospital drugs wear off. Hannah Little Creatures Fremantle is the best reaturant in the world!!!!
  19. My understanding is you should treat every click or else she might not learn to anticipate a reward after the click.
  20. I really should be working on other things but I'm still recovering from a chest infection and can't be bothered running. Soon I have to do a clicker session with Lincoln or else the poor little thing will forget what training even is! (Do you think Dogswest would let me change Toby's name to Tobylarone?)
  21. Yes I completely forgot to tell you! I got home and was going to watch in Group and you had filmed him in the ring, then pressed stop, then pressed again and started recording straight after!
  22. Toby took 3 short sessions to understand the criteria for a 2 weave entry from varied distances and angles. I introduced a third pole and he caught onto that quickly (because I was rewarding him on the left after 2) but I will go back to two poles for a couple of sessions cause I don't want to rush, the fourth pole is supposed to be the hardest.
  23. Were you training at special BC classes :D They are the only dogs in the shot! (She is pretty cute though especially when she stops and scratches)
  24. Lincoln came inbuilt with focus training done already :D
  25. Fetchindawgs- When Lincoln has ocassionaly gotten the squeaky toy off my older boy he won't squeak it, just run around holding it, I thought it's cause his jaw was to weak but after seeing my senior squeaking, I think it its because he is being too gentle. Will give your methods a go and let you know how we get on.
