A lot of people do think PR are a rescue group and I explain that they are an advertising tool for the many Rescue Groups around, also their figures for rehoming stats are not accurate as we have a website ourselves and list on PR, we do rehome many of our dogs from our own website so if we rehome say 80% from our site we also would rehome 80% from PR according to their stats when in fact it is only 20% Any group who does not do home checks, in my opinion, is not having the best interest's of the dogs future as their main objective. I know one group who sells their dogs/cats outside Wollies in an arcade/shopping centre, most of their dogs come from their own pound and to not even do a home check I feel is lazy and irresponsible to not care where their dogs go and how they will live for many years to come.

I wish for this woman to have a urine soaked nappy attached to her head when she is in the nursing home for many years and see how she likes breathing in that ammonia :cheer: .

Heaps of people help, all the time. I run an animal welfare charity keeping pets out of the pound (often paying pound fees where pounds won't reduce) while also working full time, so I think I'm doing my bit. I am aware that there are heaps of people who do help I am talking about the people who don't help but whinge all the time.

I just get annoyed when people rave about what the pounds should be doing but just keep posting again and again that they aren't doing anything, why don't they get off their bums and ring these places and ask if they can help....never happens. Pounds can only do what they have the funds and staff to do.

Isn't this a discussion forum, we all have our opinions about certain things and we all have a right to voice them, to say, "if we want to bitch about Uber" go somewhere else. For trifecta it is her livelihood....and it's just Uber not the "dog stuff" she is discussing.

I agree, no one loses! Of course they do! As a taxi operator my business is being eroded by the deregulation of the taxi industry. Uber doesn't even pay tax in this country and they are using drivers who are working for remuneration below the minimum wage. It is not a level playing field and shame on the ACT Government for being the first to capitulate.... You would have thought a Labor government would look after the workers. Do you realise that Uber/ Google is pushing the implementation of the driverless car? That will mean there will be no jobs at all in the point to point transport industry... We will all be fu@*ed Jesus this makes me so mad, I bet Uber didn't donate their 25% commission to rescue. It's insidious the way they are using rescue ETA not having a go at you Steph, but people don't realise that livelihoods and investments are at stake. I rehomed one of my foster dogs to Brenda a couple of weeks ago and what a delightful family and their other little Chihuahua Flea. Maree CPR

It's a fun day out for the dogs and their owners I am sure they all know their limitations.

I now ask for half the daily rate that kennels charge and people are happy to pay it.

DAS have a birthing area now and the mum would be away from the normal pens, I doubt she had the pup in one of the regular pens also I doubt they would have her and the pup in the 1st kennel, I think the question needs to be asked before the thread goes any further and becomes a DAS bashing.

New owner opened the crate door when he arrived in Canberra. He ran. I dont know what the facilities are for collecting dogs but common sense tells me crates need to be opened in a secure room. Or car. New owner probably wanted to toilet the dog. Who knows? Apparently a staff member opened the crate the new owner told them to be careful as the dog was very timid and would be frightened but alas the dog shot out the door (he had a collar on) the lady grabbed the collar but the dog was so scared she could not hang on to the dog. Qantas paid for the lady in Tassie to come to Canberra and take him home. I was told this by the staff at Qantas.

Just been told rescue will continue to take dogs from Griffith but no one can go into the pound.

I knew this would happy one day so am not surprised, yet again the dogs will suffer because of someones alter ego.

You can only educate the people who want to be educated.

It actually says on the clause paperwork that you can still rescue from any of the pounds "without" the approval from The DLG if you have an arrangement with each pound.

Hi Jill yes you do need to do what you did when you applied the first time, just copy from the originals but yes you have to apply to the pounds again, straight forward really. Maree CPR

Why would he ring you Andrea? seems odd that he didn't ring the RSPCA/Police but chose you at random, it could have been any group in Canberra I would think it was a hoax call, and why did he just hang up...seems very odd to me.

I must say that I have rehomed a dog to a home where the other dog was not desexed, only noticed when I was leaving and the guy had the dog in his arms on his back and then noticed the "jewels" I was not about to rip up the paperwork give them back the adoption fee and grab the dog out of the woman's arms and then leave, the dog has a great home, their other dog is delightful and the 2 of them got along as though they had been together since birth, the reason he was not done was a "man" thing the hubbie didn't want him done. What I did do was tell them both about what can happen to their boy later in life if they don't get him done and the benefits in having a desexed boy as opposed to an entire one. Some people have gone and got their dog done after I educate them, so it can be a good thing but to not rehome because they have an entire male is not an issue for me. It is humans who have an issue with debarking, the dogs have no idea they have been done they still bark but with very little noise comes out so they are still doing what comes naturally. Of course they are in pain after the op but they are on pain meds just like all of us humans and animals after any op. I had a foster dog some years back and I was working and not home during the day and she barked at anything all day my neighbours complained many times and instead of putting her to sleep or me being evicted she was debarked and went on to a great home and is still alive today and is still barking but with little noise and her family could not be happier.
