  1. Wollondilly must be allergic to my computer. All I can get is this ... then won't open to get pic: Display # 1. Animals For Sale, Lost & Found as at 23 September 2013 [Animals & Pets - Wollondilly] ... Kennel: K3 Breeed: Tibetan Spaniel X Sex: Female Age: Unknown Microchipped: No This dog is still looking for it's owner. If you own or know the owner of ...
  2. TT, Denise says in her latest update that Senghe's foster-carer 'loves him to bits'. I think she's been Tibbied! :) Also he gets on famously with her medium sized old-girl dog. Another little dog that the owner says is a Tibetan Spaniel will be surrendered to PAWS. The only pic is not clear. Interesting when he's groomed & photographed by PAWS.
  3. It's a human response for Jamie to feel such anger at seeing an elderly doggie abandoned. The important thing is that she helped the dog in its last days. And she would've done that if she'd expressed anger or not. It's the bottom line that counts in the end. Same for Nancy who's expressed disagreement about that anger.... to the point of tears falling down her face. Another very human response. But what counts is her sterling contribution to helping dogs....I visited her rescue's Facebook page. Shows the same care, concern & commitment as did Jamie's action. It's not about doing social science surveys of the layers & layers of human factors involved in dogs getting into dreadful positions. It's about doing something for the dogs. And both people, Jamie & Nancy, make the world a better place for dogs.... where it counts. When they're in biggest trouble.
  4. Denise has given the little red/white Tibbie (approx 4 yrs old) a perfect Tibetan name. And he gets a great description from his carer. Contact details on PAWS website. Senghe ('lion' in Tibetan) is a very affectionate and sociable dog. He loves being held but is equally happy to be snoozing anywhere near where you are. Senghe is non-reactive with big dogs and loves gentle children. He likes going out for walks, is calm on the lead but also happy to wander around the garden for a bit then come back inside for a snooze. Senghe loves chasing a ball and chewing on treats. He will bark for a few minutes when you leave the house or when people arrive but settles down within a few minutes. When you return home Senghe will spin around in circles with excitement, until you pick him up and say hello. Senghe must have access to the house at all times and is a house dog that is house trained. He has a coat that will require some grooming. We would like to rehome him with another friendly dog for company if his owner goes to work and we would love Senghe to go with a family who know the breed if possible.
  5. I used to get that with my clear red Borzoi, lots of women saying they would kill for hair that colour, lol :) Nature (& select breeding) can sure beat the hair colourists!
  6. You're right, Alison. The Tibbie face is less snubbed than a Peke's, doesn't have folds in the muzzle, & the eyes are almond shaped not distinctly round like a Pekes. Top of the head shape is different, too. Most people aren't really familiar with Pekes, either.... which is why it's so easy for them to think a Tibbie is a Peke.
  7. Understandable, more than frustrating. I get asked about the Tibbie girls, 'Are they Pekinese?' When I tell them 'Tibetan Spaniels' & point out basic difference, they're usually quite interested. Most have never heard of the breed. Jokingly, because the girls have lovely blonde fur, a woman will sometimes ask 'Who's their hair colourist?' And sometimes people will say about Nina Zena the tibbie...'She looks like a shrunken golden retriever!'. She does, actually. :)
  8. Dear, dear Titan. Such a sad loss. But his lovely smiling face & shining spirit united so many people. He's running free now. And will never be forgotten.
  9. Yes. One of the best & kindest vets I've known, said about his own dogs... That he'd never regretted putting one to sleep too soon. But he'd suffered agonies from putting one to sleep too late. And he meant even just a day or two. My rule of thumb is not to wait until the pet 'has to be put out of its misery'. But to pick the time before the slide into 'misery'. It's so, so hard, tho', even when you know this is the 'time'.
  10. Two 'Water Babies'. Great when your best friend serves as a diving tower. :)
  11. Good on you. You wouldn't give up on Ginger even when things got difficult for you. What lovely neighbours to come to the rescue when the owners couldn't. Sounds like Fred's doing very well, too!
  12. The greys are sure having a ball, too. I'd never realized that piles of raked leaves made a funpark for dogs!
  13. Maybe teaches us humans how happy-making leaf-diving can be. :) Saw another Husky video in the side menu. Huskies re-enact famous movie, complete with music:
  14. Ignorance helped along by social skills as poor as his own dog's. But under all that, is a stereotype that members of the public can have. Specially if they've no first-hand experience of well-cared for greyhounds. We've lived next door to racing greyhounds for years. The owner of those greys owned a cat....which lived to an amazing age, nearly 20 years. On the other side of the chain-link fence, we've owned small dogs & cats. Never a problem from the greys. In fact, they're our small dogs' best friends.... who get used to socialise the greyhound puppies. Well-cared for greys make great doggie neighbours.
  15. Yes, dogs like that, are just showing natural instincts that help survival. That was a good idea about the bell on her collar. I agree the worry is going after rodents that might've been poisoned. Our tibbie girls have never had the prey drive against small creatures. But I know other tibbies that have ... like catching mice. One was an expert bug catcher. His owner would say 'Bug, Charlie!' & he'd leap and get it. Then spit it out, at her feet.
  16. Yes, this morning's Courier-Mail article (Don posted), says both the police & the RSPCA are investigating. So someone will get their ears pulled (& it won't be the dog).
  17. SE Qld of course is a big tick area & warnings are being given there's many cases at the moment. Tricky, evil little beggars. Neighbour's racing greyhound developed one limpy back leg. The owner .... or anyone else.... didn't guess this was a tick. Everyone thought it was an injury & a greyhound vet went over the leg & spine thoroughly. Couldn't locate an injury. Then late at night, the grey started getting a bit wobbly on both back legs. Tick? Owner raced him to emergency vet. Search started with the original limpy leg. They found, deep underneath his paw, a dead tick. The tick had been squashed to death. But still enough 'stuff' got into the grey's system to cause the problems. And it first showed up affecting that leg.
  18. The article mentioned the Society of Companion Animal Rescuers. I looked up their website: http://www.socares.com.au/about_us.htm
  19. Thanks Mita, the link is here, hope this works https://www.facebook...09119845921832/ This time, I get: Upcoming Events Thursday, September 19, 2013 Nothing is scheduled for today. Maybe it's just something weird with my connection, Finnesse. But I'd hate people to miss out on getting info on the search for Titan.
  20. Lappie, that Facebook link wouldn't open for me. Got a message....'Safari can't find the server.'
  21. Love it. :) The great Leunig at his usual best.
  22. Pass on to Ryan the name & phone no for the person who's Rescue Coordinator for the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of NSW Inc. Name & phone no on the list of their Committee members for 2012-2013. I've seen that Rescue with listings on Pet Rescue. I've got a soft spot for Ridgies. We found a lost one... with ID. Contacted owners, out of town for weekend. Offered to mind him until they came back. He was the loveliest dog. Handsome & good natured....even if he ate my garden hat! :) A Ridgie fan would love Reagan. http://www.therhodesianridgebackclubinc.com/officials.html
  23. RP, I knew what would happen because I've been social secretary for two golden tibbie girls. Billy set about collecting his fans, admirers and groupies, from the beginning. And Val's fallen into his social secretary's job, like she was born to do it. :) They're quite a team! Talk about an enchanting breed ... Denise from PAWS, sent a update on the little red/white tibbie from Renbury:. The little fellow is doing very well in foster care, they absolutely love him. Thank you for sending his picture out, he is a lovely, lovely little dog.
  24. But you've brought up the good point that someone finding him, might call him a 'husky' or 'malamute', like when putting up flyers or reporting a sighting to the council.
