Can I Ask For Some Prayers For My Furbaby?
Esky the husky replied to esky's topic in General Dog Discussion
So sorry to hear this Esky R.I.P Penny -
Closest I've ever come was when I was a kid I was out walking my dogs in the park. Towser my terrier started pulling even harder than normal on his leash and barking off his head. "What's gotten into him" I thought. Looked down and there was a gigantic brown snake that I was just about to stand on. Froze still and ran for my life.

Awww so cute, is she a koolie? I wish my girl was this relaxed on her stake out. Is there any methods you use that help them to chill out?

It's interesting that some breed standards mention temperament with regards to children. Rottweiler and another (however this breed is not found here yet so slighty irrelevant) First two I could think of that mention children off the top of my head. Would be interesting to hear what owners of dogs say when addressing these questions.

An Opinion Article On Dogs From Adelaide Advertiser
Esky the husky replied to sausy.dog's topic in In The News
It is the Adelaide Advertiser. I don't think many people admire it for it's journalistic prowess. Stupid article -
I was in Bunnings the other day and saw flea traps. Wondering if anyone has any experiences and if they work. I'm fighting an ongoing battle with fleas here, cannot work out where the hell they are hiding. Wondering if this is a helpful tool or a gimic ?

Inside Dogs And Geographical Location
Esky the husky replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
I can't understand the need to crate a dog all night and then all day when you're at work. That's 2/3 of the day in a tiny space. If I was worried about safety, preadators, theft etc I'd leave my dog inside, or have a nice safe run outside so she has some space to move about. At the moment Esky's only alone maybe 1 hour a day, she copes fine being left inside or out. -
Aww how lovely I couldnt trust my cat like this. Or esky

Recommendations Needed For Boarding Kennels In Adelaide
Esky the husky replied to Miz J's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know there are a few pet sitters around Adelaide but have not used them personally. Other than that haven't been happy with the kennels I have used. PM me if you want to know where I'll be steering clear of -

Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You
Esky the husky replied to jess live die's topic in Puppy Chat
Summerside I wouldn't take everything in the Ian Dunbar books as gospel. They freaked me out a bit too, I was so neurotic after reading them. Every book tells you something different, I love reading as much as I can and trying the bits that make sense to me/ make me feel comfortable. So jealous of all the pups in here. I'm soooo clucky at the moment -
Husammy here you go http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/180160-german-spitz-mittel-klein/ Also the spitz breed thread is a thread for chatting about all the spitz breeds. Be careful though or you might wind up wanting a Finnish Lapphund  http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/137956-spitz-breeds/page__st__61410

Dog Jumps Fence To Attack Another
Esky the husky replied to Rozzie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh no. R.I.P Sarge I really feel for the other dog in all this, must be bored out of its skull. And now will end up euthed all because of terrible owners. -
OMG gorgeous prancing puppy. What an interesting sounding breed. :D Please keep us updated on the import journey. It's something I've been dreaming about doing for quite a while

Esky is perfectly toilet trained. Never has an accident inside (except the few times she's had an upset tummy ) But each time we've moved to a new house, there have been a few accidents inside. Each house has had vastly different arrangements and flooring though. But now I know to go back to basics when we move house, just for the first week or so, to show her the rules of the new house. It's a new extension, so a new room, I'd say like Esky your dog just needs to be reminded that outside is the place to go.

^ And incredibly uncommon except in racing lines ;) If you don't think you can handle a husky a racing sibe would not be the go. Compared to a lab and a boxer you're in for a new experience with any spitz. Although boxers can be headstrong, they seem to know what you want out of them. You will have to be a good leader and set boundaries owning any spitz breeds. They are lovely but very trying at times
