  1. Its a husky thing, an hey it is fun and cooling too. We ended up with a dog it fountain when little miss was a pup water flows down the sides and there is no where to splash. Keeps the water cool too like a flowing stream. We have a clam shell pool also, and outside we give her water in something too big to tip over
  2. Your breeder may have a theme and pick their own names. They may let you choose entirely or they may give you an input with th theme.the theme of esky's litter was winter so we decided she could be wintermoon. Doesnt relate to her pet name at all, we that picked out for over a year before we got her
  3. How does she manage that? Bc brains are scary
  4. What pers said, or paint yourself. I know smish was making crate covers. Not sure is she's still doing it. I find the black bars easiest on the eye as they dont distract me if the crate is in the back of the ute. You can hardly tell its there
  5. My personal thoughts is that a pen or crate is for when you're not around to pay.attention like at work or cooking dinner. There's no reason you can't have the pup out of the pen when you are home to play with them and teach them manners. My set up at home when needed is a large crate with a veranda of the bunnings compost panels attached to the crate itself.
  6. No one said anything about all day everyday. Everyone here has a different set of circumstances, there is no blanket solution for keeping dogs. What works for me won't work for someone else.
  7. I have happily paid twice the price to get a pedigree husky compared to a byb husky. Worth it 100x over, got a great breeder who I can contact and who is proud of what we do with Esky. From a cost perspective byb or badly bred dogs may not come with basics such as microchipping and sometimes even not vaccinations or worming. All the vetwork was done with my pedigree girl as well as her desexing, all with the purchase price so it can quickly amount to really good value. I truly feel like we got a bargain :)
  8. Just think about what I use a harness for with a racing dog. It enhances the pulling power. I feel much safer walking my dog in a slip or half slip collar, I can feel her move and correct as needed.
  9. looks like the start of an Aus vs NZ sports match
  10. Self sustainable kennels close to the snowfields. And my Chinook (or multiple ones )
  11. If the 10 day quarantine period definitely going ahead?
  12. Nothing that I know of yet. There's no reason that it couldn't be added after/ with the novices rig races. Not sure anyones ever asked for it though. You could contact your local club, where abouts are you I can help point you in the right direction? With some interest they may be able to help you out or you might even be the pioneer of the sport in Aus :D
  13. Could you but up some chicken mesh in front of the garden bed just before the concrete?
  14. I guess it also comes down to the context of the breed and the breeder. For example in one breed I'm researching breeding to better the breed actually involves some carefully planned outcrosses for the purposes of genetic diversity. In other breeds this would not be looked on as bettering the breed.
  15. Do you get a choice of station if you go through an agent?
  16. Afghans, Borzois and Salukis, because they just look so spectacular.
  17. Sounds like you've got a really good support team!
  18. Oh I love red merle aussies. Not matter what colour I'm sure your pup will be perfect for you. Hope it goes well
  19. Good luck :) How did you end up deciding on the sire?
  20. Spoke to an Earthborn rep the other day and they're fazing out the trial pack size, since it isn't very cost effective for them. You might get lucky and find a petstock that still has them in :)
  21. But at least you were a constant in your dogs upbringing. This scenario kind of reminds me of having step parents and going between houses. You know what you can get away with where because each parent has different rules and expectations. I know if I shared Esky with OH he would be so bad at enforcing rules and doing tasks like grooming
  22. One of my happiest memories with esky is the first time we went sled racing. It was our turn to run the timer was counting down and with about fifteen seconds to spare decided to sit on the line. Great i thought we're going to fail. When the beep went she stood up and started pulling like a maniac. Pure instinct. It was amazing
