  1. Personally I'd be leaving puppy at home and just having a look and a chat.
  2. I like the discounted rego idea. Esky meets all 3 criteria so we get the maximum discount that we can :D The only problem is that dodgy owners who simply don't register their dogs.
  3. I wish you lived here so you could meet Pele the bull terrier. She is the most gorgeous dog- sweet as pie :D
  4. so gorgeous- shouldnt be long before she finds a home
  5. Well since pedigree names can't have another's prefix in the name it does make it harder Rubystay I know of one or two that have done it by using a space. Several husky breeders I know mention the sire or both parents in their dogs names ie PREFIX Esky by Levi Or Prefix Dreamers Esky by Levi I quite like that approach, makes it easy to know who the parents are
  6. Have a chat with Gus's breeder and ask for some help :D If you're interested in doing a bit of reading check out the book 'Stucture in Action' by Pat Hastings. I found it a really interesting read :D
  7. Someone better tell my husky she's a working breed. She spends 28 hours a day sleeping. I hope I can get her to speed up next winter for racing. I think I'm keener than she.
  8. Don't expect too much at the beginning, enjoy the puppy stage and have fun with training. You really don't need to do more than a minute or 2 at a time otherwise puppy will lose interest. I would keep the pup on the breeders food until he is settled in. I would advise against supermarket foods as they are really overpriced meat flavoured cereal. More premium brands have less fillers, which means you have to feed less and less comes out the other side. Back in June I won a substantial supply of Eagle pack (about 18kg) I'm nowhere near finished it so far. With my one adult active dog it would cost me less than $4 per week to keep her on a top quality food. I might feed the mince and the kibble as a seperate meal. Any kibble not eaten in my house goes back into the sealed contained and gets eaten again. With the water bowl I'd just refill it again. ;) I can't really answer the other questions but I'm sure someone will
  9. I like my cat- but I'm not a 'cat person' I don't really understand them. I like that I can take Esky out and we can go running together and racing. I feel really bonded to her, i don't really 'get' how I'm supposed to bond to a cat OH loves all animals so we'll probably always have a cat- but I don't think I could deal with more than one
  10. OMG misread the word pussy there *shakes head at self*
  11. Ah I see. I was hoping the extra panel wouldn't fall out. So does it 'lock' in like a normal door latch would?
  12. How do the doors work, like how do you the human get out when it is set up?
  13. I went to dog school with one. She was an adorable little thing, quite obedient but prone to running off on the agility equiptment. She did it her way (ahem not that my dog is any better behaved than that ;) )
  14. In all seriousness though, maybe when you found it you squished it. Killing it. We've got the flea problem under control here (touch wood) They are tough buggers to kill!
  15. That is brilliant! These kind of ideas go down really well. I remember at one music festival I went to if you collected 5 cans you could redeem them for 1 drink ticket. Drinks were about 3-5 tickets each. Cleanest concert I ever went to!
  16. Again it depends what you are aiming for. I want my next dog to be totally neutralised to other dogs. There is nothing worse than a racing dog that overtakes us on the trail and then turns around and tries to play! Or one that tries to come in from the side. Don't stress out too much LMSW you are doing a great job raising him :D
  17. Wow you've got a whole world of choice there. :p The first thing that popped into my head reading this was a Japanese Spitz. Some people on DOL do dancing and other sports with them. They are spitz breeds though and sometime you have to be creative with your training. Have you got an idea of the sort of personality you want?
  18. Esky always stretches at the back door before coming in. We ask for a sit and she'll get halfway and decide to stretch instead She also does the 'bed shark' before getting onto the bed. She'll put her chin on the bed and walk around it until she finds the right spot, then bam up on the bed.
  19. I agree with this. Keep in mind that with the more premium foods you actually feed less food than you would a supermarket brand I know it might not seem affordable but I haven't bought any pet food at all in over 6 months after winning a large bag at a race. The 15 odd kilos thay I got costs about $120 retail- That's only 20 dollars a month. It's really not so bad when you break it down
  20. About 90% of my puppy enquirees are from people looking for a Blue & Tan puppy...so I would say Blue & Tan are more popular atm, although I think the Sandy/red Aussies are just gorgeous too. I didn't know they came in anything other than blue and tan Do you have any pics of the other colours?
  21. There are a few on Ebay but not sure on the quality
