I never understood how that was a better alternative. Crated all day and then also usually of a night while the owners were asleep.

Military Working Dog Puppy Program
Esky the husky replied to gsdog2's topic in General Dog Discussion
Looks like an amazing experience. Will you do it again? Did they have strict requirements to become a carer? -
Some american forums I found were really really over the top, so I wouldn't worry too much. The only thing I would worry about is the size difference between the 2 dogs, having dealt with a number of boxer pups they can be very energetic (as you probably well know). Being smaller I would be a bit concerned for your maltese x's safety. As long as he has water and shade he can move around and keep himself cool. Have you got some toys to occupy them while you are out?

For those with experience with customs, would supplements/ vitamins get seized? We get our personal multivitamins from NZ every few months, would it be different coming from the usa (assuming thats where clean run is based)

Adelaide Dolers - This Saturday 26th Nov
Esky the husky replied to MsKatie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think Esky might want to say goodbye to her 3 legged pal. I'll see if I can make it up there :D -
I know some shows can be intimidating. Do you have any showie friends, or know any DOLers that might be able to introduce you to some people? Another option might be to email some breeders and ask if they were going to be at xxx show . That might make you feel a little bit more comforatble as you could walk up and say " hi I'm so and so, we spoke through email" Shibas are soo cute!

For real ? :p I mean I get it when people say that about Esky. But your boys aren't nearly as fluffy
-
Awww, What a fitting tribute to your beautiful aussie boy
-
It's good that you'll be around for the puppy stage I'll just mention that I work from home now, and Esky doens't seem to care on jot. She usually just lazes in one of her preferred spots around the yard.

Every few days. Thankfully she goes on our walks so I don't have to go around searching. I can just bag and bin

Nutritional Balance
Esky the husky replied to Skruffy n Flea's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have been wondering this myself, it seems to more I read the more confused I get. Hoping someone can provide us with an answer. ;) I did find a table published online of the recommended daily amounts for protiens/vitamins/minerals etc. http://rdafordogs.blogspot.com/ That's what I've found, no idea on the acuracy though. But I've been messing around with these figures as a baseline anyway. Using a nutrional data website I've been trying to build up a recipe for a balanced BARF pattie. And .. it's damn hard. *disclaimer, this is just me doing things for my own curiosity, I don't claim to be any kind of expert in the field* Have a look here though, you can convert your 'grams' to kil/cal. I love this website http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/poultry-products/739/2 -
I've just discovered bucket of beef. I was wondering whether any SA dolers have any experience with this company that they can share? We're you and your dogs happy with the food?

1- Intelligent 2- Has the drive to pull a sled or a rig 3- Obedient and attentive 4- Able to distinguish between work and home time. 5- Good natured. So I've found dogs that tick all these boxes for me. Got to scrape together a lot of coin to bring one in from overseas.

Just A Heads Up. They're Back! It's Snake Season Again
Esky the husky replied to LizT's topic in General Dog Discussion
Idigadog I'm glad to hear Cooper is recovering well. I wish the snakes would bugger off and leave you alone though. It's not fair at all -

Can they put him into a crate, if they have one?
