You might be able to find a mature dog from a breeder once you work out which breed is for you. Sometimes older show dogs get rehomed when they have finished their showing careers. Usually these dogs would be used to being around lots of chaos, lots of being handled. It would just be a matter of talking to the breeder and finding out whether they thought the dog could be good for you.

You could try a frozen kong or a treat ball or other kibble dispensing toy. He's already searching for food, so he might as well learn to do it in appropriate ways ;)

I don't feed it to her, but Esky goes mental over supercoat. I guess it's like kids and McDonalds

I forsee you getting swept up into the mess here and having to look after a litter of pups. I've had a similar situation happen to me and it was NOT fun at all. I ended up buying so much food, weaning a litter of puppies and everything else. I had my own pup at the time too Not something I plan on doing again until I actually plan a litter. Saddest bit was the owner of the bitch was so 'proud' that she made a 'profit' from the litter. I could have screamed. You'd better read up on caring for a litter of pups then Tailen.

I was unemployed then practically unemployed when we got Esky. At first I worked a few nights and OH worked days so there was always someone around. Then we both moved and unfortunately took longer than expected to find jobs. So I was home for the first 8 or so months we had Esky Our next dog won't have that much time

They only charged us all member prices :D So a run cost $4, I don't think anyone did more than two. Well I think almost all the dogs came running back to their owners anyway, so really they ran twice the distance. (and a bit more if you're a cheeky husky ;) )

I guess the only consolation might be that people can't afford one of these ridiculously priced mutts and might end up coming back to a registered breeder. Bloody hell I felt sick opening the paper to see this picture today.

How long is a piece of string? There are usually several litter on the DOL listings at any one time. I'd suggest your friend narrows down their search, however it pleases them and then talk to those breeders. If I am ever allowed to get another husky I will only by from breeders who trial or ideally show and sled with their sibes. However if I was looking for a pet type personality I've got a whole different set of breeders I'd go too.
