I have several sleeping in my heart. Thank you for the beautiful story.

So sorry to hear this, Scootaloo. Sleep well, Robo.

One year ago, I went to the pound to take a maltese to rescue When I got there, the maltese had names and was already desexed, so I noticed this scruffy little man in the adjoining pen. He was only quite young and decided, once he was in my arms, that it was a good place to be. Well, Bas hasn't left and is now officially mine, and, despite the second photo, is an amazing little dog , he took to training very easily and is just a sweetheart. Happy Gotcha Day, Basil - I certainly wasn't looking for a puppy, but I'm glad I walked into the pound that day.

I love all my "bits and pieces" mixed breeds rescues but one day I really will own a Tibetan Spaniel - perhaps a mature one that has been returned to its breeder, and when I get really old - a cat!
-
In time, may the good memories of your boy make you smile. Sleep well, handsome Tibor.
-
Sleep well, little Cherry - what a sweetheart you were and a much loved dog.

I got these ones and found them to be quite flimsy. My dog refused to use them and they ended up in the bin. These are the ones my little dog also refused to use.
-
They look very sturdy. I have steps for my girl who is going on 14, but she refuses to use them - they don't look as strong as those.

I am by no means an expert in dog behaviour but just a thought: you mentioned that Bon had health issues - is it possible that Lucy is attacking her because she senses illness/weakness in Bon? Perhaps some of the more knowledgeable people might know if that is a possibility? I'm sorry this is happening, it is traumatic and I hope you find a solution.

Feel good story of the year! Love it. What a wise dog to attach himself to these people and now, hopefully, a great life.
-
No advice, but lucky you having a little pup to look after!

This isn't rescue. This is a woman who wasn't coping and the animals suffered. Why is she allowed to continue if she couldn't cope before, and why would she want to if she didn't have time and physically can't do it? Just because she took cats and dogs doesn't mean it was in their best interests. I am over so called rescues who don't do the right thing.
-
I agree. One of mine does it too and she is certainly not lacking in nutrition! My older boy does it also from time to time too when he has been walking on newly cut grass.
-
What a lucky little man - rescued by one of the good ones and living his best years with you, Staycalm. I hope your good memories of him will, in time, make you smile. Sleep well, little Alfie.

Sleep well, beautiful boy. Hugs to you, ari.g

This is in my local paper this morning, along with a very good editorial asking why the establishment is still allowed to operate. Wandsworth is 60km north of Armidale. What got me was the paper quoting Ms Fraser - " She said she had bred for 35 years and bred "poodles and poodle cross THINGS....except for half a dozen of the larger ones" What??? Poor little dogs.

Nsw Country Pounds That Desex Before Rehoming
stellnme replied to Rozzie's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Here's one that does, Rozzie. Armidale Dumaresq Council operate the New England Regional Companion Animals Shelter and animals available for rehoming are vaccinated, microchipped, lifetime registered, wormed and desexed. They work closely with Armidale volunteer branch of the RSPCA who also take animals into foster care from there. It is a very innovative set up. -
What Food Can Your Dog Not Resist?
stellnme replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
I eat lactose free yoghurt - Vaalia and Liddells make good vanilla ones - also lactose free cheese if Danny can have any of that. Always available in Coles and Woolworths and other places. Pers is correct, don't get soy. Goats milk yoghurt is usually well tolerated but isn't lactose free. Best of luck with the tests and ongoing care for little Danny. -
Your shelves will be full of love and good memories then.

Oh Anna, I'm so sorry your Malmsteen has left. What a very lucky boy to have had the good fortune to live his life with you - all cats (and dogs) should be so lucky. Thinking of you. Sleep well, beautiful boy, you were loved.

What Food Can Your Dog Not Resist?
stellnme replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have been known to give them the good, cooked in the oven stuff, left over from the night before. No bones of course. Canned salmon would be just as good, though. -
What Food Can Your Dog Not Resist?

Yep. I use a little bit of tuna in springwater or if I am lucky enough to have any salmon left over, I roll the tablet up in a small bit. Seems to work because it is a strong smell. -
Early Xmas Pressie For Reputable Rescue.......
stellnme replied to Pjrt's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Good on you Gruf. I'm sure whoever gets the package will appreciate it very much. Once you start looking at the rescue dogs there are a lot of heartbreakers out there! -
So sorry to hear this. Sleep well, beautiful boy.

Parents State Dogs Responsible For Critical Injuries To Toddler
stellnme replied to j's topic in In The News
Poor little one was only back in his mother and stepfather's custody for two months before he died? With those injuries, what pain and terror he must have suffered in that short time. Surely someone must have heard or seen something?
