  1. I tried that on Thursday - failed miserably  Was hoping to finalise my three tonight, but ended up trying to fix our retic instead, so it will have to be tomorrow now.
  2. That made me smile CM :D Sounds like you had a great trip Snook shame it was raining but sounds like Justice had a blast too :D Looking forward to seeing all your photos :D I've lived here 2.5yrs and have now been three times
  3. Awww what little sweeties :) Looks like they're enjoying a good chomp :D
  4. Good luck and have fun Snook - round here wetlands = tiger snakes, so be careful too :)
  5. They were so cute those little penguins :D You can really see the blue coloration in that photo. It was a great day on the island with sea lions, skinks and about a squillion birds! I took over 800 shots, but have culled nearly 500 at the first look through - lots of out of focus flying birds
  6. Getting the hang of this lens now :) Found this little Cicada in a bag of salad, so popped him in the sun to warm up after about 33hrs in the fridge. After about 30 mins he flew off somewhere having survived his chilly experience!
  7. Off to Penguin Island tomorrow - if I don't get some usable shots then my camera should be taken away from me  Bird watching Penguin Island is a birdwatchers paradise! Species you are likely to sight include cormorants, darters, terns, fairy terns, noddies, silver gulls, oystercatchers, ruddy turnstones, bar tailed godwit (all the way from Siberia!), Arctic Skua, Little Eagles, Ospreys and Sea Eagles. The Islands are also breeding and nesting sites for colonies of Australian Pelicans.
  8. Left some lovin' ;) They are all gorgeous, but love the crab in particular :)
  9. Awwww Super Sid :D I can't believe he's two as well, lovely to see a collection of shots of him :) And I know it's Sid's thread but just love Lola's face in the streamer shot
  10. Those are lovely gapvic! Gorgeous dog rose (?) and hip shots :)
  11. Snook, I think the whole point is to interperate the themes as you see fit - I was fully expecting to see some pics of non-birds in the blog ;) :) It's not like you'll be kicked out for breaking any rules  I'm just going with actual birds as I have no imagination for other ideas
  12. I only picked the theme, I'll leave it to whoever suggested it to clairify
  13. Hop on a plane a come to Penguin Island with us on Thursday :D I think Judi is still to pop her theme 2 ones up?
  14. Thanks Snook Also reminded me of this site I came across a few months back :) Bird photography tutorials - http://mikeatkinson.net/tutorials.htm
  15. Just beautiful! Really like the first one of the nudibranchs and their ribbon of eggs
  16. Uh-oh not a popular choice  It scares me to hear of you guys planning and getting props etc - I just shoot and hope something turns out, a total lack of creative imagination  Really enjoyed seeing everyone's second theme - looking forward to the third
  17. Crap, OK, I need a current list of us coz the one I have is all screwed up. Please copy/paste & add your name. 1- Kristin (kja) 2 - Kerri (Snook) 3 - Tanya (CrazyCresties)
  18. Nope sorry, maybe move on to the next person on the list and come back to her later? Yeah I think I said in my joining post that it may make me explore further than bugs and pets - epic fail with Theme Two already
  19. Great to see the photos going up - such a wide interpretation of the theme makes it so interesting. Looking forward to you joining us Snook :D As you mentioned props, does that mean the gorgeous Justice is going to be humiliated again
  20. Thanks tlc :D The Indy shot was taken wide open - it's nice and sharp wide open for portrait shots, but obviously needs to be shut down a fair bit for most macro work :) eta - one more from yesterday
  21. I *think* I have mine, will try and edit this morning so I can get another try this afternoon if they are all rubbish  Looking forward to seeing everyone's tomorrow
