Such lovely colours :) We don't seem to get those colours round Perth, I miss the autumn shades and smells from back home, and it's the wrong time of year
-
That's pretty neat and good detail on the fly :) Look forward to seeing your pics from it :D

Those are beautiful Pesh, particularly like #2 :D

No haven't noticed kja around - hope you're ok Kristin if you see this :) Snook - Is that the Chris Bray course? I did that a couple of years ago and had a great day, so hope you make it and enjoy yourself :D

That is gorgeous RV, great capture I'm afraid I'm also pulling out I seem to have so little time to pick up my camera these days, that when I do it is just for the challenge. I know this is good as it is making me try new things, but I'm missing doing what I like best which is bugs, wildlife and pets. While this doesn't stretch my range or make me try new things, it's what I like doing and would like to concentrate on Good luck and have fun for the rest of the themes, and I will still try to follow and comment on the blog when I can :)

My ex 'working type' cocker :) All the better for storing little burrs!!

Cool, thanks for the heads up :) I'll need to read a bit more about it, but does it allows for finer editing in LR, or do you export to Nik from LR?

A Photo That Captures Her "spirit"
CrazyCresties replied to redangel's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Awww what a lovely thread and great pics :D When Louis is out and about he is not the 'real' Louis that I see at home (due to fear issues from a screwed up puppy-hood) but occasionally he lets his guard down with another dog and then his 'spirit' shows :) Daisy doesn't have much 'spirt' (another rescue with a dodgy past) but this shows her 'emotion' well :) eta - sorry got carried away with 3 Louis shots, then realised you said single pic  -
5kg! That is one huge handsome bunny! :D
-
Awww, isn't he just beautiful
-
What a great series of shots I love Elli's cheeky play face :D

Her saga is here Cougar - http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/247510-indy-off-to-the-vets/ but basically it's culminated in an ultrasound on Friday which confirmed she has Triaditis - Pancreatitis, IBD and associated issues. She has been a lot better over the past few days, so hopefully the treatment and diet change will help her for a while :) It was a tricky theme, not surprised a few haven't managed it - I had resigned myself to failure until RV threw me a life line
-
RS - that is such a lovely thing to do Bobo looks at home already and I'm sure she'll have the best last few years in life a dog could have with your family, both human and furry :D Congratulations Ptolomy, that is awesome

Ok, thanks to RV inviting me along to an interesting event tomorrow morning, I should hopefully get something to put up now, but it will be a day late, towards the end of tomorrow :)

Do You Think It Would Be Illegal In Australia?
CrazyCresties replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Ah ok, having seen pics and read what they were doing, it wasn't a case of using a mouse just for a photo - they were conducting a population study of the owls. A bit of googling shows that is actually a method used for population counts. https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:u_VWsyw6DKUJ:www.nps.gov/lavo/naturescience/upload/2006%2520owl%2520survey.doc+&hl=en&gl=au&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESjZNCJvopz2ynALFXsmQ4eFni_SpQmIwfAh3vtRbTN4xyiOPhftKOD6npxQrUaGM79-g_KZxngzQi_o4XnSYU3EFRKvoRi_ZnyCFAK7n1zH39_vHyHsCi1j16t1e8I7MDPot5kJ&sig=AHIEtbRF7Tu_YeZC3oEYGG-gp3lRnrXBYw The same results wouldn't be possible with dead mice I assume, and whilst it would be better if they weren't used at all I guess this has been shown to be a reliable method. What I would object to is the owl being blinded by the flash he is obviously using! I don't have an issue with that as it's just recording nature as it happens - nature ain't pretty most of the time. -
Does this help? http://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/13717/how-do-i-convert-lens-mm-to-optical-zoom-times
-
Congrats on your first DSLR :D I would say the 55-300mm will cover a good range to start with if you want to go out and about with just one lens. The long end (300) will enable you to zoom in well at shows, but you may find the 55 is a bit too long for closer shots, but if you can get back a bit from your subject you should be fine. Have fun and take lots of shots and play with the settings to see what difference they make, don't be too afraid about taking it out of 'auto' mode. Look forward to seeing some of your shots with it :) I'm not familiar with the Nikon lenses as I have a Canon, but I'm sure a Nikon user will be along soon as well - also it's lens not lense :)

I agree, I feel guilty just trying to shift a bug into a better position for a shot sometimes. -

No idea about the legality of it, but was the mouse alive or dead? -
She is gorgeous Pers, and always has such a mischievous look on her face

Sorry guys looks like I'm going to fail on this theme - OH has been away this week and I've back and forth to the vets with Indy all week, and we've just found out she has pancreatitis She's picked up but was very poorly a couple of days back. Also we've got friends coming over tomorrow, so I'm just struggling to find time to get out. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's shots though
