  1. Those are lovely Pers, love the teeny flower :D
  2. I have the Crumpler one which I find very comfortable :) http://www.crumpler.com/AU/Camera-Bags/Camera-Straps-Accessories/Industry-Disgrace.html?LanguageCode=EN&SKU=IDE001-B00000
  3. I went for the Yongnuo in the end. I know diddly squat about using a flash, so it's going to be a steep learning curve  I also got a small diffuser for macro work. http://www.hypop.com.au/yongnuo-yn-568ex-high-speed-sync-hss-flash-speedlite-for-canon.html http://www.hypop.com.au/hypop-rectangular-softbox-with-diffuser-for-speedlite-flash.html I'm getting my lens from here http://www.mycamerafocus.com.au/ They are a 'grey import' business and not quite as cheap as DWI, but good prices and local to me, so if any issues I won't have to send back overseas :)
  4. Thanks tlc - added settings above :) I'm getting the Canon 100mm L IS USM macro for christmas :D There was a slight hiccup with the first place I ordered it, so have re-ordered elsewhere and hopefully it will turn up in time as I've got two weeks off to play
  5. My little 'muse' is back, at least I think it's the same spider - how long do they live? I took some pics about 14 months ago of a Jumper with a nest - now she is back on the same twig, so I like to think it's the same one :) Settings: 1/800 ƒ/5.6 ISO 400 60 mm Settings: 1/800 ƒ/5 ISO 200 60 mm Settings: 1/800 ƒ/5 ISO 400 60 mm
  6. Piper - Such little cuties That's sweet RiverStar, love the staging :D I did have the same problem with Louis My 'outakes' And this was the very last shot - just about sums up how they were feeling
  7. Unfortunately I found out recently they're not  (not DWI, but another company)
  8. I know! Daisy is an expert in 'pissed'
  9. Inspired by the awesome pics in here, I bribed my two today into being humilated
  10. You've had a cool bug day :D! The black one look freaky! No help with any id's I'm afraid
  11. Happy Birthday Saxon You are a stunner
  12. Not too bad tlc :) looks like a bit more natural light would help - the trick is also getting the dof right as you want the 'eye' in focus, but also some of the shell - they're awkward little buggers  I like the 5th one down a lot :D

  14. Love the log one Kirislin :D tlc - I've added my setting to the pics above in case it's any help :) Their eye stalks tend to wave about a bit, so quite a few were thrown out to get these ones

  16. Those are lovely RV, great start with the 7D I had another quick play when I got home with the 50mm, natural light but overcast outside, 3 at iso 3200 and one at 6400 :) eta - urgh looks like I need to calibrate my big monitor again, these look too cold on my other screens Settings: 1/640 ƒ/4 ISO 3200 50 mm Settings: 1/400 ƒ/4 ISO 3200 50 mm Settings: 1/500 ƒ/2 ISO 3200 50 mm Settings: 1/500 ƒ/2.8 ISO 6400 50 mm
  17. Ah thanks Staffyluv, I'll have look at the 100 days thread :) I just feel I'm ready for an upgrade now from my 60mm Tamron, it's done me well but I could do with a bit more distance from the subject sometimes and I think the USM and focus limiter will be very handy :) Just phoned a store in Perth that stocks the Yongnuo flashes - $400 for the model that is $200 pretty much everywhere online, I know they have overheads etc. but what's the point of stocking a cheap chinese flash if you're going to sell it for stupid money
  18. Woo Hoo new toy already :D That was a good price for a shop
  19. Ok OH has said she’ll get me a lens for xmas, (well originally it was going to be another tattoo, but I have some planning to do for that and it won’t be for a few months), so I said a new lens would go down well instead :) I was thinking about the new Tamron 90mm VC macro, but it has only just been released and few reviews or sample pics are available so far. I saw CameraPro has the Canon 100mm L IS USM macro for $725! That’s crazy cheap and free shipping, so very tempted. Do I recall someone on here had this lens, if so how are you finding it? It could be my first ‘L’ lens :D http://www.camerapro.com.au/canon-ef-100mm-f-2-8l-macro-is-usm-lens-australian-stock.html Also I really need to start learning to use a flash – I have read a bit about the cheap Yongnuo flash units, and they now have a model that does HSS, which I might find useful for macro stuff. At $200 on ebay and Amazon it seems like a no brainer, but again wondered if anyone on here had any real world experience with a Yongnuo flash? http://flashhavoc.com/yongnuo-yn-568ex-review/ TIA :D
  20. With regards to the bolded bits - I've been using my 50mm 1.4 a bit more recently and it is a great lens, and no issues with it on my 7D at all. Also I have had my 7D for nearly 2 years now and have no desire to upgrade yet - still lots to learn with it, it's one heck of a camera :D Personally I like the crop format for macro and birds :)
  21. Grey market or local shop prices? If grey market how about this combo? Body only 7D - $1015, that's insanely cheap now http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Canon-EOS-7D-Body-Only-Digital-SLR-Cameras.aspx#.UMcbduSmip1 Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM - $792.00 http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Canon-EF-24-105mm-f4L-IS-USM-Lenses.aspx I have to admit to not knowing much about this lens, but it's an L lens with IS and USM - a hunt on google/POTN should find out if any good or not :) It sucks your gear was stolen, but shopping for new stuff is also great fun :D
  22. I don't use my 7D much in low light, but have dug out some that were at high-ish ISO. The 5Dii unfortunatley isn't renowned for its AF speed or acuracy, which are good on the 7D. The main thing (as Huga always says) is that if you get the exposure right, then you can push the iso higher - something I'm still learning  Recently we had a flock of Carnabys come round and had to bump the iso then as it was about 6:40pm. Settings: 1/500 ƒ/3.2 ISO 3200 200mm Settings: 1/640 ƒ/5.6 ISO 1600 200mm Settings: 1/320 ƒ/4 ISO 1600 Settings: 1/125 ƒ/3.5 ISO 4000 38mm
  23. Awwww those ducklings are so sweet, love the one testing his wings :D
