  1. I think the photo or yourself is the one I would feel a little offputting, but they may have their reasons, I suppose you have to decide if its worth it. My dog came from interstate and I had to send pics of my yard, my current dogs and had several lengthy conversations with the breeders to convince them I was ok. They had been burnt before after sending a dog interstate then finding it chained to a tree when they visited later.
  2. I have a beta dog too, complete pita, and everyone thinks he is such an easy dog and the other is the villain when she puts him back down. Its a hard road, good luck!
  3. Umbrella and wellies, 2 walks a day with my lot come rain or shine, doesn't bother me or them. ( although a certain BT decides wether she may or may not attend!)
  4. yep, read too fast
  5. I thought you said the 24 hours had lapsed? if that's the case its your mistake isn't it? breeders must have heaps of time wasters who never get back to them ,they didn't know you were still keen after that time.
  6. I think you need to relax and chill, we cant be responsible for other peoples behaviour, only how we react to it. I stopped taking my dogs to the kids soccer years ago, as parents would let their kids charge over and annoy my dogs and I spent more time watching that than my daughter playing soccer. The final straw was a child of about 3 who before I realised had my BT in a head lock face to face one morning while the parents just looked on and laughed. you have to accept not everyone is dog savvy, and you can come over as crazy dog owner if you are not careful, softly softly works much better. The other thing is ,don't get so stressed around your dogs, they will pick up on it.
  7. ok, thanks, Bonn loves carrots , well she eats anything actually, poop included
  8. Rebanne ,what other dried stuff could I soak with the oats?
  9. soaking the oats overnight is easier, that's what I did with VANS anyway. They get liver or kidney daily, so perhaps I wont use the tablets then. I am not really bothered about copying the VANS, just looking at a cheaper way of feeding, could I just add parsley and garlic to the oats ? and if so how much, I am soaking a cup a day which was the same as used of VANS each day between them. I don't have a coffee grinder for flaxseed , will see whats available, but not that fussed if its not needed.
  10. I just bought a bag of rolled oats and it said to boil them , so I did a cupful and its now in the fridge, can I just soak them then instead? I did buy vit D tablets, woolies had no flaxseed ,so will have to look elsewhere anyway. I will just give my dally his drumstick for brekky then and no more bones in his tea. I will look at the health booster, and lentils aswell, thanks. He does it when he is awake too, his hips have gone, so as he push's to get up he poops.I have to lift him up most of the time now.
  11. to be honest I keep my old dallys diet pretty basic so I don't upset his tum. I will look at the vit tabs then. so is the general thought that the grains are not needed? I did read it helped them poop? I can easily make up some oats and add the flaxseed daily.
  12. so do processed foods have the vit d in then? any idea what garlic and parley is in it for?
  13. ok, will check out the flaxseed tomorrow as down to my last scoop of VANS. Just took out a bag of liver frozen to thaw and its green on one side, wasn't like that when I sectioned it up to freeze, assume I should chuck it, the other portions in the freezer from the same batch are the same I just looked up the ingredients in VANS, and its barley, oats ,flaxseed meal, veggies, garlic, parsley ,and a few other things. would adding garlic and parsley help? no idea what they are for.
  14. Thanks for the reply, I am starting to think its a lot of money for a lot of grains that go straight through them. However, I also dont want poop consistency to change, atm its solid, to the point of dry, and my old dally is pooping and doesn't realise it , so he has it in his bed in the morning and when he gets up off the floor its next to him, so atm its easy to pickup with kitchen roll and no mess. Do I just get flaxseed meal at wooolies? making up some rolled oats and adding it is no problem ,and way cheaper!
  15. veggies are something I am wondering about too. I feed VANS, but after lots of advice here, I have added to the roo mince, liver, kidney, chicken wings, drumsticks, feet, turkey necks , sardines and eggs. not all at the same time, I give a small amount of liver daily, and bones, but everything else alternate. my question is, I am about to run out of VANS , and to be honest at over $150 a bag I am skint this month and wondering if it is really neccasary?( sp) my petshop does have whole rabbits in the freezer, but at $15 each its a bit pricey for one meal.
  16. You need to talk to her first, you said you would look after it, so you cant just take it to the pound now without telling her. Tell her you are getting attached to the dog, would she consider selling it.If not say you cant keep it any more as its not fair . Then see what happens.
  17. I see one at the dog park when I go, big black young male, and he is the opposite, other dogs try and take him on and he walks away, very stable dog. He is very focused on his owner, not really interested in other dogs at all, he also owns a Johnson bulldog ,and they get on fine, and he has kids, he said he did a lot of research before he got him. I can always ask where he got him from, but I don't go very often.
  18. Love BT's, don't like staffys. Love greys, whippys could squeeze by, iggys, no
  19. this looks interesting, can you tell me how much it is? thinking of giving it a go.
  20. My BT suffers from pancreatic problems if she gets too much fatty food, I stopped feeding chicken mince and changed to roo and she has been fine since.
  21. what DM said, wait and hold dog till they can calm down and see it was just being a dog. very sad a dog will die for doing what comes naturally.
  22. shouldn't have looked in here, too cute! A nice chunky easy going boy who doesn't mind letting a BT girl rule the roost is my order please
