  1. Am i right in saying Dogmad that Dexie is more lab in temp than husky? She was when i knew her, might be easier to rehome? she was goofy friendly ball of fun who loved everyone before.
  2. ooooo, i want a Deerhound puppy  Darn they are cute!!! My whippy came from a petshop ( before i learnt my lesson), and she was a thug. Stormys whippys are a force to be reccond (sp) with, certainly not timid!
  3. Cleo i love the Cardigans We had 2 a few doors up ,one died last year the other is ancient and still going for her evening walk for an hour, she is such a character, i would never have realised what great dogs they were before. I saw a neighbours brittany last night and thought that might be a good choice too.
  4. Joking aside, it could well be incoporated into the breed info, listing the colours, and mentioning all are not rare, if there is a genuine rare colour in a breed it could be said so in brackets next to the colour?
  5. The other thing to consider is, most companion breeds don't want to be left outside allday. Poodle's can have shaggy hair too if you don't like the posh looking clip with pom poms
  6. And just because i can't resist , " blue is no longer rare"
  7. But you could, with the breed heading have a price range, ie. expect to pay between $1000 and $1500 for this breed?
  8. i think corgi too, loads of attitude  we have a cardigan a few doors up.
  9. Before i came here years ago i was scared to ring breeders with no price ,in case i couldn't afford them and felt an idiot on the phone.
  10. Inside or outside dog ? Poodle, Shnauzer, Cav? 10kg is more a small breed size. Bigger and would have said Aussie shep.
  11. Steph, you are exactly my point, we need to get purebreds out there, and to do this we have to get people to realise they are not just for showing. In fact alot of purebreds are actually cheaper than the oodle doodle's in petshops, something i tell people often, they listen when money is mentioned. more puppy buyers comming here to look create's more potential members.
  12. Would he pay for kennels if you don't find anything in time? I know last time Dexie's owner put her in kennels for a few months while trying to home her, not sure where it was, but she was out in a big paddock allday and looked happy there, he may know which one it was.
  13. Thankyou for helping dexie again, i deleted the origianl pics her owner sent me, and the vid of her playing, darn!( that pic makes her look a bit scary and she is such a sook) I hope the girls get to stay togther, but not likely
  14. Nic would HP let you take him to a vet to see how he is before anyone commits? I have had a few oldies and as Nic has said lovely dogs to foster, both mine only lasted just under 12 months, but they were 2 of the best dogs i have ever owned and i miss them dearly. Both had had hard lives and just needed a warm bed and tlc, they were no trouble. However, Dogmad takes on alot of little oldies too and her vet bills are huge for them which she pays out of her own pocket. ( however also saying that, the little ones do seem to need ears and teeth done more, so you maybe ok) I am near HP if i can be of any help to the old chap.
  15. Can you get the crate's off the ground? i have my kennels on wooden pallets. I also use the microwave heat pads ,they stay warm all night wrapped in a pillowcase.
  16. I used to feed Advance and my lot were all fat on hardly any.
  17. Perhaps a survey troy ,of what is important to buyers in an ad, to build the template? i know what i would like to see to make purebred dogs more attractive, lets see what everyone else thinks, bounce idea's around?
  18. Wow thats a huge amount of kibble, i would change it too. sardines and eggs are good for coat. what others said add some raw meat if they tolerate it, and change the kibble.
  19. I reckon having a symbol next to your ad to say you show may well be detrimental to attracting newbie's. I bet most newbie's would pick the health checked dog not shown over the one that is. Joe public is still very wary of show dogs and think its all snobby dog people. Another thing that bugs me is ads with old pics, if you are selling a litter, take a pic of the litter or mature dog you are selling, i don't want to see a pic of a litter from 5 years ago.
  20. Yep, simple and easy to see and approachable. I often get asked where to look for pups, i want to say here, but with certain breeds there are a lot of not so good breeders listed, how do i then say which ones to look at? I want to see a clear sign of which breeders are doing the right thing. Show stats mean nothing to me, i want a healthy sociable dog.
  21. I'm not married, and not really single living alone, i have 2 kids. i also work, but from home, so if i tick full time it looks like i am not home when i am. :)
  22. Thats a good idea Troy, purebred dog buying needs to become more easier to access for the public. We need to stop the facade that purebred dogs are only for showing, perhaps a reason not to list the sire and dam ? It has to be simple and easy to understand, ie, X breed suffers from xyz, link to each condition? I would think if you saw an add full of ticks next to each health check you would pick that breeder over one with none.
  23. I second Steve at K9 Pro, shoot him an email and tell him whats happening. You need to address the growling at the kids quickly. A crate of pen maybe a good idea when you are busy and he needs peace in his own space. I took on a 2 yr old ex kennel dog, its not easy, i too had Steve out when she started to settle in and began asserting herself a little too much.
  24. From my point of view, who knows nothing much about showing etc, i would like to see something like a heading for each breed, with a list of health testing that should be done for the particular breed, then next to each breeders puppy ad, ticks or cross's as to which test they have done, or not done. This would at a glance, for newbies be easy to see what problems may occure in their chosen breed, and who is health testing for it. I suppose it depends on the market DOL wants to attract, if its too complicated to understand ( sire, dam, health tests that no one knows what they mean in laymans terms) it makes purebred dogs too hard to understand and joe bloggs backs away. Surely the aim is to make pure bred dogs more accessable to the public to get them out there?
