I would say age and temp of dog was a major factor, a pup left in an apartment allday may not be ideal, an older dog who has been walked first would probably chill and sleep till you got home. When i firt left home i took my bitza, i bought half of a victorin terrace ( upper level, no garden), i also bought a second mutt from th pound. I walked them for an hour in the morning, took them out for the same when i got back and let them out before bedtime on the alleyway by my door, never even thought of it as hard.

WP, i think you use the same vet practice as me, go and see Blair, he is a greyhound vet and won't charge the earth for stuff you don't need, worth get him looked over. -
what a great job you are doing, many would have dumped her long ago, you are a star! Have a go with a grey, i love them they are very easy dogs, if it doesn't work out you can stop. Can she go to daycare more, or is it ok to take her with you? or too pricey?

Actually I thought they did originally support it? It seems now it is on their doorstep and they are dealing with the fallout they don't like it. Much as I dislike them, if it gets an overturn on BSL its a good thing. I can't open the link

You say it started 2 months after you got her, so she was fine to start with? Did the rescue say anything about it? Perhaps some leadership skills need to be implemented if she was molly coddled too much when you got her? If your hubby doesn't want to pay for help, perhaps get him to clear the crap up ,might change his mind :)

I too think this dog must be in misery for most of its time, what an aweful situation for you. I would try Sas's idea now, and if it doesn't work have a long hard think about the quality of life for her.

Do they do it it in NSW? I would love to go and watch, my lot would be useless

Love the dogbed!. Do you think he has shut down a bit? He may pay an interest in the cats when he feels better, so good idea about still being careful. -

How cute! I assume they are vocal then if she has been debarked? I have never seen one before. -
My daughter called me in to watch it, I had no idea a doler was on it, which one are you?
-
Hows it going MM?

Big aggressive dogs, really. And how exactly to you intend to work out which dogs are ok to come to work? Breed based by the sound of it.

Thanks i will try that if the micochip way doesn't work, i assume he has one, just waiting to see if he can be scanned at the kennels. I don't want to hassle his sister too much, so will give it a few days and ask .

I used to feel the same about a day after a new badly behaved foster came, I just thought why did I put my hand up when everything before was so easy. I think it will pass, the adrenalin rush you had has worn off and you are coming down. Try and just do everything as you normally would ,don't overthink it, let the dog fit in around you.

Really good article. I own a bull breed, but i am not "breed blind", i am aware of their capabilities, and i don't put her in a situation where she would show them, that's my job. I have seen bad example's of my breed and it make's me sad, they do nothing for it. Bull breed owners need to be aware of what they own and stop getting so defensive, there are bad dogs out there that should not be bred from.

Could it be the roo? do you have any left? Roo is often untreated and natural?just random thoughts. Hope he is ok this morning.

Thankyou, hadn't thought of that.

The BB thread is pretty inactive so i thought i would try here. A dear friend is in ICU , he may not make it, and if he does he will not walk again and will need 24 care. His sister has asked me to help trace the breeder of his beloved BB Danzig. Dan has been in kennels for the last 4 weeks whilst his owner is in a coma, but is not copeing well in kennels. I know he told me where Dan came from, and i forgot. I remeber him having a good relationship with the breeder, he was waiting for a pup, then Dan was returned to his breeder by the young couple who bought him ,so she offered him to Juz. His original name was Rocky.( being a complete metalhead, Juz changed it to Danzig :) ) I know the breeder was female, and was in NSW. Does anyone recognise this boy?

Bull Terriers do not "lock on" its a myth, just because they have a higher threshold does not mean their jaws lock, get it right

Hows she going, any updates?

Perhaps this is the problem, dogs were exposed to so more when we weren't so anti dog. Dogs became used at a young age to seeing kids running and screaming, now they are kept in tiny backyards, and are not allowed in so many places. Perhaps its been done the wrong way around, if we remove them from everyday life and they suddenly get out they are too reactive? Education is a good start, but i would like to see the stats on the people who own the dogs who have done the most damage, i'm sure they are exactly the sort who wouldn't go to any training or even reg dogs, so pointless. I too get no response from rangers on dogs out loose, my neighbour 2 doors up had a bull breed x who almost killed a neighbours cat on its front lawn in front of their kids ,it was then out on a weekly basis after having a nuisance order placed on it, i rang counci 3 times, it was sitting on my doorstep allday and they never turned up once, and this dog would rush poeple and try and bite them too, and had an order on it, useless!!!

yes DD thats what i meant, we are learning nothing from these attacks atm.

Its saying the owner says they are Amstaffs, look more like bulldog mix to me, and they will be pts today or tommorrow. Why can't they hold them till they can do some research into why it happened, then pts, it makes no sense to me to just keep killing dogs without finding out why it happens.

Can we see more pics of her, i love them too. We had a family who rented down the street for a while who had 3 and seemed to be breeding them, they had jetpets arrive one morning and brought out some pups.
