I am very aware of what is at the end of my lead, I am not breed blind, I own a BT because I love them and there is nothing like the clown they are. They should be tolerant, however if pushed they will finish it. I too avoid certain breeds, not because of my BT, but my dally who doesn't like the exuberance some breeds have and will politely tell them off, which is perceived as aggressive to some owners. Pick and choose which dogs you see as a good experience for your pup, he doesn't need to meet everydog you see.

I would dress him up in something funny and take a pic, the one you see first shot doesn't make you want to look further. He is the hardest to rehome, male ,big ,brindle, so you need to be inventive with drawing people in, get some odd pics of him doing things, and redo his profile , way too long atm. I would change his name too, brandy? depends how keen you are for him to go, chances are the new owners will change it anyway.

I live inbetween 2 area's,it depends which area I go, if I go Baulkham Hills way to walk my dogs I see a lot of Labs, BC's and Cavs. If I go Blacktown way its bullbreeds. I am in the middle and we get a lot of oodles, and labs, although there is a stunning Tibetan Mastiff in my street. :)

He's bored and badly trained. I don't care if he can roll over dead, I wouldn't want him jumping and sleeping all over my furniture or beds and refusing to get down when told too.

Yes I would, after just 9 days and the original owner had had it for 7 yrs,and was away at the time. If this is what happened I think the new owners are selfish, but there maybe more to this story, like who was looking after it while she was away and why did they not look for it? Things are never as clean cut as they seem.

can you get a cheap camara, or fake one in an obvious place to deter him?

Report him now, you won't catch him as its when you are out. can you report him to the RSPCA? Has anyone actually seen him do it and will back you up?

I just read about the dog stuck in a drain, apparently its a " Prince Charles Cavalier Cocker Spaniel" Looks like a regular cav to me, not like the press to get it completely wrong

I was chatting to my neighbour yesterday she was thinking of getting another dog to keep her other little scruffer company, she was telling me they were $1300 at the petshop for a mutt, current one was from the markets a few xmas's ago. I managed to keep really chilled and tell her about "paws" ,she was very keen, so hope she had a look. Its very hard to refrain form going all "crazy dog lady" on people, I just mention price, and that gets them interested, then mention all the backup they would get, matching the right dog etc, softly, softly works. I met a lady a few weeks ago with a red amstaff, red nose, she told me he was "papered" I didn't believe it for one minute, he looked like he had lab in the mix, she eventually realised when I pointed it out her "papers" were vac papers. Again, took my time, walked with her, dog was very nice, young ,but easily overstimulated, it was her first dog too, gave her some tips on situations to avoid etc, and she was really grateful and asked if she ever saw me out if she could join me as my dogs were so calm. $1300 seems to be the norm around here for a petshop mutt, I think it must be due to people's lack of knowledge about where else to go, they can get a well bred health checked dog for that too.

Actually I got to keep my ex's cattle dog who is a pita  He is a rescue, I found a home for him, only he had bonded with my ex and didn't want to let him go so he stayed. When we split 6 years ago he moved to an apartment in the city for work and didn't even consider taking him. He annoys the crap out of my other 2 dogs ,and is still devoted to my ex, who will never take him. Ex see's him every sat when he comes to hang with the kids, and take's him to the skate park for the day with them.

Manpower is probably the biggest issue. I would love to see a liason officer at all pounds who is on the ground and knows the dogs and can talk to people and advise them, it makes sense, less dogs would bounce back. The shelter in the UK I got my dogs from had this, you had to fill in a form before you saw any of the dogs in the kennels, then they would talk to you about what they had suitable.

yep, lighter ones can come undone.

I would be concerned that you had to google a condition in your breed to learn about it.

Rehoming Naughty Dog With/without Contract?

can you just tell them? there would be many dogs living in surburbia who would kill livestock, so I don't see how its an issue, provided the new owners know. -
There isn't enough background from the OP to give a proper opinion. Why didn't the owners go to the suggested vet? Did the breeder talk to their vet before the surgery went ahead? Was there any contract? How much was the purchase price. Was it a heredity problem? I think it would be pretty cruel to remove a pup from the home if they have done the right thing by it , after all it will have to rehomed again anyway, at no cost one would assume? I wouldn't be parting with money unless there was a good reason they didn't use the requested vet.

The more restrictive we get about where dogs can go the more the problem gets.

the pups clearly have mange

I can't comment on the racing side, but in rescue, like Stormy I am sick of trainers over breeding and disposing of them so quickly and easily. I have been at the pound too many times and watched trainers walk in with 3 or 4 youngsters to be killed, why?, its cheaper to take them to the pound than pay a vet to pts, that's all. Their life expectancy needs to be longer, even if they race its short.

You will find a lot of people are "breed blind", I know my breed has issue's, its upto me wether I decide to take it on each time. perhaps its all too raw for you atm, if you love the breed its the price we pay.

I get where you are coming from, a few years ago after loseing another of my BT'S to health issue's I vowed I wouldn't own one again, they do seem to be a health nightmare. However after I fostered , ( and then kept, as he was terminally ill), a beautiful BT boy I remembered why I loved them so much. I decided instead of getting a rescue one, whose health was unknown I would go the breeder route, I did all my research ,and yet here I am with one that arrived with health issue's. Over the years I have owned working breeds alongside, and have to say they rarely go to the vet.
