  1. I would be going to someone recommended here, there are way too many "behavoirists" who havn't a clue out there.
  2. juice

    Vale Dante

so sorry sas, take care of you too.
  3. I have 3, have had upto 6 when fostering. I like 2, easy to take everywhere, 3 just push's it, although i walk them altogether. My problem is i want more than 2 breeds
  4. I have a feamle BT who was kept kennelled and bred from before i had her who eats hers, my other 2, and any she can grab on walks! drives me nuts i have tried the pinapple for the last 2 days in all their food, but think i need to put more in as not worked yet.
  5. To a degree we treat them in a similar fashion, they are a commitment, we have routine's and have boundries. However the danger happens when we allow either to do as they please because we love them. Certain breeds need a very firm leader ( as do some kids  ), and i believe treating some like this is a recipe for disaster. Dogs need stong leaders, food, shelter, stimulation and exercise, they think in the now. Everything else is for our benefit. :)
  6. My personal thoughts are its rude for any dog to rush another. My cattle will greet other dogs this way, rushing, stalking, then rushing, so he isn't allowed to do it, he goes back on lead, gets to greet calmly then i let him go. I learnt the hard way, before i knew better my dally went over to say hello to a mini shnauzer, the guy kicked him , i was really upset, i said he won't hurt him, the guys reply was' well i don't know that do i? ". Perfectly reasonable response and made me realise how rude it was, from then on they are not allowed to run over to any dogs.
  7. My dogs are dogs and get treated as such. There is no comparison, i can only assume people who treat dogs like children are missing something, and 'furkids' annoys the crap out of me too
  8. Your DOG is a dog, your car is a car, you house is a house, etc etc, its just a fact  I would like to know who you rescued your second dog from, and wether they know you don't plan on vet treatment for it. You have already pts one dog with no diagnosis, wonder how long this one will get.
  9. Just interested to know, can a ranger come and sieze a dog they accuse of rushing etc? or is it just bullying, and you have the right to refuse to hand it over?
  10. Exactly Pav!!! You didn't take the vets advice to send your DOG ( not child), to a specailist, you chose to pts without knowing what was wrong, could easily have been fine.
  11. How much each day should i give nekh?
  12. 2 of mine are fed Advance with necks and wings, the BT is on VANs with chicken mince and necks. She has been on it for over 3 months now, as she is prone to red sore legs ,feet, and bites them. I have to say as much as i love the idea of it, it smells lovely, and she loves it, i havn't noticed any change whatsoever.( the petshop even gave me a bottle of the VANs omega oil as it was going out of date to try too) I did try using it with roo meat to start with, but its so expensive, i switched to chicken mince.
  13. Do you need low protein, or low purine levels? My dally gets stones so has to be on a low purine diet, i feed advance chicken, and chicken wings and necks. I have a list of all the high purine foods which he can't have.
  14. I am confident around bull breeds, as i own one,and have owned many in the past. But this was the first time i had one run full throttle at us. In that split second i wondered which dog he would go for, which one was more likely to defend themselve's etc etc, pretty scary thoughts. Actually the oodle that rushed us was bigger, just a huge ball of black hair in need of a clip  I was concerned afterwards that it seemed to redirect its aggression to the owner as he grabbed it,which made me think he was not about to be friendly as was about to go off.
  15. Delee, i agree, posture in staffys is hard to work out if they are over exuburant or mean business. He was charging full pelt for us and only stopped as i stood in front of mine, then he circled as i swung them around, no idea how i managed it  His agression seemed to escalate as the kid ( teenager) grabbed him.
  16. I think in hindsite most of the staffys i have known do rush up like this. My bully doesn't she skips over in bounds I suppose if he meant business he would have got past me to them, and my dally is a good judge of dog, he would stand behind me if he was concerned. Perhaps he just had no manners? it just got me thinking about the difference it makes on breed.
  17. Many times i have seen posts about loose dogs charging others dolers, and not really thought much of it. Well last night i changed my mind about it! I am crossing the oval to go home , i see on the other side 2 boys with a staffy, they see me and grab it, no lead it seems so sit on it. I give a really wide birth, keep right over the other side , next thing i see is this staffy, built like a brick with big studded chest plate charging straight for us, kid it tow running after him. i Sh*t myself! I have 3 dogs all on lead, i stand between him and them , and start circling mine out of his reach, he rush's around trying to get to them, kid catch's up jumps on him, his hackles are up and he growls and snarls as the boy grabs him. Kid apologize's, and tells me he is friendly, its just the way he says hello. So, i walk away shaking like a leaf. But then started thinking, the night before an oodle charged from the other side of the oval to us, i didn't bat an eyelid, was i being breed scared? Yes the staffy charged straight at us, yes his tail was high, he made himself big, yes he growled etc when the kid grabbed him. It happened so fast, i wish i could watch again to see if he was just being an overzealous bull breed, or he meant business, my gut feeling was not good the way he ran at us? Mine didn't react, except my old dally who actually went towards him to say hello, so perhaps he was ok? Owning a bull breed myself it made me really see why people are scared.
  18. Complete rip off, as others have said, and their rent would be way lower than a vet in Sydney.
  19. The house 2 doors up from me has moved out this week, and have just put a really nice kennel out for free on the verge. I have plenty, but thought someone might want it. Its the big wooden delux one, slanting roof that lifts up, i would say large sized. Its been chewed a bit down one side, but looks pretty new ( they had a staffy pup they only kept a few weeks). I am in glenwood, if anyone wants it i can go grab it?
  20. When i went back to the UK, few years ago i had forgotten how dog friendly it was. I walked through the park and there were familes having picnics with dogs running around, ,dogs ran upto other dogs, everything was really relaxed, no one screamed and ran away. In my brothers pub there was a guy with a RR, laying at hi feet while he had a pint. It made me sad to come back here.
  21. So sorry , i love reds, they are special. Will ne thinking of you, take care
  22. i have heard amny times people tell me red cattle dogs are tougher, harder and not as friendly as blue ones.? i also heard years ago that golden cockers had a bad temp? ( this could just have been popularity at the time with that colour and breeding from not so nice temp dogs)?
  23. sorry, should have said dangerous, and restricted they were after. i notice they edited my reponse about showing a boxer pic and have swapped it.
  24. I was reading our local paper last night, and front page news is where dangerous dogs are kept in Blacktown. The Advocate said they had asked council for a list of the owners who have them, apparently not public information, thank goodness. They wanted to expose their address's for the good of the public My take is that its a witch hunt, these dogs may have done nothing wrong other than being the breed they are, so why should the public know where they are? I have had my fair share of abuse from people when i go walking my BT, just ramdom shouting etc. I would hate to think what might happen if i had a restricted breed and my adress was given out in the press. They want to know if the public think its their right to know where theses dogs are being kept, i certainly will be telling them what i think! And what a surprise, a boxer is the pic in the online article.
