  1. I believe he isn't one of the ones opposing it. Blacktown council really need a big shake up, perhaps if they get the enquiry into the dodgy cash given to the interpreter ,recently in the news, that they will look further into their dealings
  2. I am so sorry you have lost her. I went to the pound that day and she just sat at the front of her pen looking at me, all the other dogs around her were going off, but Jess just sat looking really sad. I knew she didn't have much chance, staffy, tons of them there, brindle, and older. I bent down to talk to her, she was special, i knew straight away, and i promised her i would get her out and come back for her. Rae was the only person i could think of who might help, and she did, so i went back and got her. The short time she was here while she waited for her lift we all fell for her. She was a gentle soul, she just chilled out taking it all in her stride. Sometimes the dogs that leave the biggest hole are the ones we have for just a short while. She fitted in so well to your family, and all those pics show how happy you made her. You gave her th best years of her life, and she gave it back to you. I really am so glad you had her, she was lucky. May Rusty and Jess be snoozing in the sun over the bridge together forever. Take care
  3. did you feed her as soon as you got back from running around? could it be bloat?
  4. hmmm, tempting. mine could do with more than i can give him, and lives with a bossy BT.
  5. You maybe thinking of "brandy and trooper"? dol members dogs here a while ago?
  6. Actually after years of getting everything trashed it was one of the reasons i stopped fostering( and my own dogs were missing out too much). I always took on the big bull breed pups, which no one wanted, and many were destructo on legs, although the last cattle dog i had was the worst  I got fed up with my dogs not having decent beds etc for fear of the fosters trashing them. I nearly cried when one ripped a big hole in my new Astro turf. I don't regret any of it though, and one day when i have a big block i will bulid a run so i can do it again. :D
  7. I have spoken there before, and it is nerve racking, and councillours were busy talking, reading the paper and eating. My counsillour never attended, even though it was a planning proposal in her jurasdiction, she never helped us at all. I have little faith in this council to do anything that doesn't serve them.
  8. i have a really bad poo eater, hers, my other 2 dogs, and any poo she can get to on the walk before me i have been trying the pineapple for a week now ,and she just seems even keener to find some out walking, she even makes a grab onlead if i miss it in the grass
  9. sorry, just to clarify, that was the price the vet charges for mobic and panalog. i didn't even know you could get then to write a script for the chemist, not sure they would?
  10. If you breeder is a good one, both parents tested etc, talk to her, she may well recommend a specialist. If you bought the pup off a byb, forget that and get recommendation here. One thing that does strike me though, if you intended and still do to breed, it might be a good idea to have more knowledge of the health issue's of the breed before you start.
  11. My dally was prescribed Mobic by my vet, but at $60 a box its way cheaper getting it oversea's. I also have one on Panalog which only lasts me 2/3 weeks, $40 from the vets , 3rd of that overseas, i buy lots at a time. :D
  12. I get mine from Canada, but i think it has to be ordered from there or the USA, luckily my family live in the uUS, so they order it and ship it to me, about 1/3rd of the price.( ironically its actually sourced from Australia, so it has to go to the USA and come back!) try googling it, and see what you get.
  13. not happened to me, just interested to know, owning a bull breed its a good thing to know.
  14. Perhaps holding a dog at the pound while it is given its green dream is a life experience a family should experience too Pendleton! What a load of crap, as usual, Blacktown council really get my goat
  15. So sorry to hear you have lost Jess too. I will never forget that big grin she had, she was lucky to have you, thankyou for taking such good care of the special girl.
  16. parklea markets near me has been selling pups for years at at least 2 stalls, and one has very exotic pups, bostons, chi's, cresties, BB. Its an aweful site to see them in cages being poked all weekend.
  17. i thought it was the old cattle dog rusty she lost not jess.
  18. Ot, but i don't have fb Linus, can you pm me when the next walk is? also when is the next funday,or have i missed it?
  19. I think you would be fine with an older dog fully vaccinated, after all how do we know where a parvo dog has been, vets, park etc, and all our vaccinated dogs are fine, thats why they are vaccinated, so they don't get it.
  20. welcome to the forum, i am sorry for your loss Parvo lives in the ground, so its really hard to get rid of. If you want an older female, there are plenty of breeders looking to place ex breeding or show dogs. I didn't want a pup, so looked through the pages of bully breeders till i liked the look of their dogs, then contacted them to see if they had any older ones.Alot of breeders don't show on their site the older ones looking for homes, so its a good idea to just ask. ' Linus' is a member here, and she often knows of older bullys looking for homes, she is also great for advice, try sending her a pm. There is a female in Blacktown pound atm if you look in the rescue section.
  21. Hi Donski, my Bull Terrier has it too. I use Panalog twice a day, and also use Eye's Natural once a day too. I get the Panalog from overseas as its about 1/3 of the price. I have heard Optimune is good too, but more expensive.
  22. Good idea to have a special page for them, with update's, etc, really good pics make a difference too. perhaps a blog about how good older dogs are ? i would never go younger again either.
  23. I don't know if its possible to have them listed with 'senior dog rescue' aswell? I fostered a lovely old RR x for them, and he was adopted out really fast, much quicker than the young ones i have had,so perhaps people looking for older dogs look there? My dally is 12/13 now, and still runs for hours everyday, he lives for his walks, he does sleep more during the day, but has hardly slowed down. :)
  24. I am just a tad surprised if thats the way she was when she met him that you brought him home? Female's are generally more dominant anyway, but she may never be his friend, she didn't pick him. She may learn to tolerate him, and he may then be more relaxed around her, but he is being cautious for a reason.
