  1. Last time i was at my vets with my BT a young couple came in with a litter of amstaff pups for first vaccs carrying them i a plastic laundry basket, she put them on the floor near us, the pups saw my BT and all jumped out to say hello, chaos  A few mins later another lady walked in with another litter of amstaffs in a box, the same thing happened. One even came upto her and growled!
  2. yes i knew too, loads around here do it though, and if i can get my hands on cheap springer i will be doing it too :D
  3. Yes , Bella vista store, they were very good at giving info just really bad spot away from all other dog food. The complete mix had a sticker on saying free treats? Making it up is no problem, really easy.Although i have never handled lamb either, gross too, must be a blood thing  I have been given the omega oil to try, but wondering if i should give the food alone a chance first to see what i think?
  4. Bonn's skin settled back down this morning, must have been something else. Went back to Petstock today and bought a 5kg bag , then went off to another petshop and bought some lamb ,cheaper at $3kg then roo. 2 Things, no free treats in my shop, so didn't get any, they said they hadn't had them secondly, the van is hidden right around the corner so hard to spot, might want a better profile to get more sales ;) However, the nice lady there gave me a bottle of the omega blend to try ( nearly out of date, thats why) So, going to give this bag a go, should last me 5/6 weeks, driving alot farther to get the mince might get annoying ( tiny freezer), and then see what i think.
  5. First of all , not "English" staffys. The reason poeple here may come over as harsh is because the majority of dogs in the pound, who die are staffys, bred by people who "want a pup for the kids to see", 'think my dog is awesome so should have a litter". etc etc. If you don't know the right name for the breed do you know what is a good speciman of the breed ? Can you pick a perfect match to breed with? Are you going to be responsible for all the pups you breed , then they go onto breed? Or are you fine with churning out pups who one day might die scared in a cage at the pound, go visit one and see.
  6. My BT would never find her way home  However i reckon my other 2 would easily. I once had a foster pup who got spooked on our walk ,he ran straight home ,i had only had him a week.( cattle dog ;)
  7. So now i should look at lamb rather than chicken? Can you buy lamb mince for dogs? i havn't seen it? My bully started to look pink yesterday, today she is really pink on her head, her eyes are gunky and she seems off colour, no idea if its the roo, but as i have only one portion left i might chuck it and just give her necks with the van tonight and look at a different raw meat. could be nothing to do with the food, but normally first place it shows on her.
  8. I don't think anyone is picking on you, the fact that your name springs to people's mind must be a good thing, they are aware of you, thats what its all about. it would be sad if we couldn't be informed of such events here.
  9. I am persoanlly am not a fan of red meat, bullies seem to react to it. She does get chicken necks in the mix too. Perhaps i should consider chicken mince, i will look tommorrow when i go to petstock. For now my other 2 will stay on Advance, my dally really is better on dried food anyway due to him getting stones, so wouldn't change him anyway. My cattle does well on anything, like a little tub
  10. Thanks for the reply, i only mix one day at a time anyway to leave in pantry. After looking around at roo meat i think its all roughly around the same price, but will keep trying to find a cheaper place, i looked at the pinned topic, none anywhere near me. The loyalty package would certainly sway me, it did when i changed from Optimum to Advance , with multiple dogs people get through the food much faster so need an incentive.
  11. And everytime someone posts it gets bumped higher ;)
  12. I have to agree, when i first looked on the site it is not very clear as to what each food is , saying " complete" gives the impression it has the meat in too.Took me a few attempts to find it all. Perhaps something to think about? Sorry, meant to say, i mix up the complete mix and leave it in the pantry, roo in fridge, then mix them together at meal time. I run out today of just the 1kg, so going to buy a bigger bag and keep trying it for a bit longer, reducing the amount i feed a bit aswell, still comes in at 3 times the price of feeding Advance, but if its as good as everyone says ,for one dog i might keep it. :) Perhaps a loyalty bag would be a good idea, like Advance and Proplan do ? ( buy 10 bags of same size, get one free?), certainly pulls down the price. :D
  13. If you look on the website is does show all the foods, and prices, so you can work it out. I like the smell, i put it in a plastic tub in the pantry, really easy, handling roo meat isnt so great  My main gripe is price too though.
  14. I don't see it as as more advertising than BH ,Pets1, or Ruthless , or the many others who start threads about their stuff I have just started trying it too, but price might push me off it too.
  15. I agree, Ellie could so easily have been put in the "too hard" basket, after being tied up for so long. Dogmads endless campaining on her part paid off, and she rehomed my neighbours husky through an enquiry for ellie too
  16. I just wondered about the amounts actually, she is a rather tubby lazy BT, who has had 2 litters before i got her, so still has a droopy tum, so i think dropping some weight would be good. When i go for more roo later this week i will look at chicken mince too, i suspect i am giving her too much of everything atm. 130g VAN, about 4 necks, and a about 200gs of roo ( one very small brekky the rest at night).
  17. I agree it does my head in! i have a dally who has stones, so low purine, which means red meat is out, and a bully who is prone to bad skin. i have done loads of reading on it all and still not sure! mine have done well on Pro plan, and advance, with necks and wings, just trying out Vans.
  18. Thanks for the heads up about the grains, her poo is definatley more solid on VAN, seems much less waste. The roo i buy in fozen rolls is $5 800g, then i buy necks and wings for all of them for the week, which is about $12. I am feeding her necks as well as the roo meat, but so far getting through 2 rolls a week of roo. The price was based on the 5kg bag, the 15 kig bag would bring it down $1.50 a week, but huge price to pay upfront first! I would love to feed it, may get a 5kg bag, and keep trying for longer to see if we get any change in her red feet, then decide.
  19. Well Bonn is loving the new food, spends ages licking the bowl. However after working out the cost, this small 1kg bag is only going to last a week, and the roo meat, and necks i put in to substitute some roo, its working out at around $31 a week for one dog Even if i buy a bigger bag of Van, it will still be $28. On Advance they cost about $12 each including wings and necks a week. If i only had one dog i might think about it, but i can't afford it really. I also notice her poo is full of grains, whats the point, goes straight in and out?
  20. i wouldn't be feeding her at 5am unless its something you plan on always doing  pics ;)
  21. Also, make sure the breeder knows about your amstaff, so they can match a pup to suit. Bare in mind bullies don't usaully start fights, but will finish one, so you need to get a good match for it to work.
  22. Would be good to know please. I bought the roo roll already frozen, and the one i am using is in the bottom of my fridge in a seperate part to everything else . ( i only have one fridge)
  23. Some are harder to let go than others, i have had a couple i could easily have kept, my kids still hassle me about a lovely red amstaff pup we let go  Others drove me nuts, and i was glad when they found their spot. ;)
  24. VAN is Vets all natural mix. My BT is loveing the Van and roo mince, i am just giving small amounts of roo atm mixed with her old kibble so it doesn't upset her tum.
