  1. I agree, stressed dogs pant alot. vet check would be good idea too.
  2. He certinly is a handsome boy, and so is your boy, well done for caring I would be really blunt when i see them and tell them you rang the pound and they said he would be pts by friday, leave it at that, the pound will be closed so they can't check to see if he made it out alive, ( not that they would bother). I have had 2 neighbours turn up at my door with their dogs they no longer wanted, as if i could take away their problem and wash their hands of them( both purebreds) Both dogs found homes thanks to my friends at "paws" :D
  3. Last week my BT got up off the couch in the garage and i noticed the sheet over it was wet and stained. Then yesterday we came home from our walk and she flopped onto the garge floor to rest.A few mins later i went out to fly spry her, she was crashed out flat on the floor, and as i called her she looked up, she shot what i assume was pee everywhere? It came out like a gush, about half a cup full. She seems fine in herself, any idea's? She was used for breeding before i had her, she is 4.
  4. From my experience, staffys are the biggest inmates at our 2 main pounds, pure ( byb looking) and x's. Second i would say is cattle x's. Bullbreeds have a high ratio at blacktown due to the area i would say, low income area. Greyhounds also feature highly, as we are in an area where there are alot of trainers
  5. sorry, thought i was replying in the bully thread, it was linked here, der, blonde moment!
  6. People have this stupid idea that if they take them to the pound they will get a home, reality is he has tommorrow to make it out of there alive,or he won't see xmas this year.
  7. I agree ,his barking is controlling you, i use NILF on Bonn, as she can be pushy too, i have to be on top of her all the time. Sometimes at meal times she will bark at me ,so she just waits longer to be fed then. OT, I need some advice, last week i noticed when Bonn got off the couch there was a wet spot where she had been laying, it stained the sheet, anyway, today we get back from the walk, she crash's on the garage floor to sleep. I go out and call her to spray her with fly reppellant, as she jolts out of sleep, she wee's? lots of i assume wee shoots onto the floor. does she have a bladder problem? Any idea's?
  8. He should have a "due date" on his listing, basically on that date he will be pts if he has no ones name on him. They are not the easiest pound to get info from as they are so busy, so trying to find out if he has a name or rescue as backup won't be foolproof, he may slip through.
  9. I don't think there is an RSPCA in Blacktown, if he is at Blacktown pound he will have to be adopted through them, and its normally full with 3/4 to a pen, not the nicest place to be taken
  10. Love the last one in the individual shots, all fluffy and floppy eared :D
  11. Bullys don't do things to please us, they want to know whats in it for them. They also see no reason to go around something when they can go through it. I prefer to think of mine as a clown ,not thick
  12. I agree , she is desperate to be with anyone, wether it be human or doggy. The whole situation is a nightmare, trying to rehome her when she is tied up 24/7 is near impossible as she is so excited to get off the rope it could put potentail people off, and you don't really get to see the true dog. She so needs to get into foster care.
  13. i have a client with chooks if you need her testing clyde ;) we have tested another dog with them before.
  14. Thanks for the pics of the GR colours, very interesting, i still like the middle ones best. I agree black greys are the hardest to rehome, my fave is dark red brindle and white.
  15. He looks lovely after all they aren't called cream retrievers
  16. I havn't seen a really nice golden GR for a long time, they all seem really pale, almost white, i much prefer the deeper colour. Fav bully colour atm seems to be reds, i don't like them ,bullys are white to me ;) I like dallys heavily spotted too, but really like the liver.
  17. I treat my dogs like dogs, because they are dogs, not my children, i already have 2 of them. Doeasn't make me less of an owner because i don't let them do what they like, like kids boundries need to be made and maintained.
  18. And all these dogs are getting exactly what they want when they want. They just have their owners well trained. ;)
  19. I think it depends on the dog, my friend has an entire male BB, who try's to mount anything he comes close too, including people.
  20. I had the same thought too, would she be better in the pound, but i think that her exuburant barking when she see's another dog would go against her in the pound and be seen as aggression, and she would not get rehomed. She is breaking my heart too ,to know she is stuck tied up with people who have no clue. If you get any leads, i am more than happy to take Bonn over again to show that her barking and carrying on leads to nothing.
  21. Ruthless collars for all 3 of mine A dog run in the garden for fosters. Money to have the bathed regularly ,as it kills my back doing it. Enough cash to pay Steve from K9 Pro to spend the day here telling me what they are all doing in dog language, its facscinating!!
  22. Dogs are too easily bought. Too many people buy on impulse without any knowledge of the breed they are buying. Alot of dogs in the pound are there because their owner chose the wrong breed for their situation. Because like everything else, we throw whats "broken" out and buy another. Perhaps standing in the " kill "room and watching your pet die would be a good idea when you surrender it. Education is the key, poeple i meet still think that the dogs in the pound must have something wrong with them to be there, and that breeders are snobby and only breed show dogs. This misconception needs turning around, to stop people buying on impulse elswhere.
  23. I would report him to the police, he made a threat, and used threatening behaviour to you. If they go around and have a word it might make him think again.
