Another waste of time, they wheeled out the blonde DR again, and when he had the chance, when asked what we could do, he said the RSPCA should put ticks on good puppy farms. Right after the segment where the RSPCA said they didn't have time to inspect them. Good idea chris Simple answer would have been "don't buy from petshops to fuel the puppy farms".

Dog aggression is different to human aggression! How many more times, sick of hearing' if it was a child"
-
Ok, point taken, perhaps i have just seen too many not doing the right thing , that it has tarnished my view. And i know there are also many bad rescue's out there too. My thoughts were just, something does need to be done about puppy farming, but i can see that it would also restrict the good breeders. Its a hard one, how do you sort the good from the bad?
-
Stikes me someone is more concerned about their own back. If it makes breeders tow the line more, so be it, i have seen far more bad breeders with too many dogs, than good ones. I f you do the right thing you have nothing to fear. Keeping vast numbers of dogs , hiding behind ,"bettering the breed", when really its breeding for whats winning. Not everyone in rescue is a crazy dog person who wants to save anything with a pulse, but we are realistic. :D

Dogmad If it stops dogs like oscar being treated like that it has to be worth it, he is one of many.

Grrrr...idiots At Off Leash Dog Only Parks
juice replied to Juddabug Whippets's topic in General Dog Discussion
Dog parks have too many idiots in, don't use them. What a child was doing in one with a dog is also stupid. We have a new one being proposed here, i rang council to see where it is, far too small an area as usual, the coucil guy even said he thought they were a bad idea as poeple didn't control their dogs in them -
Good idea Ruth, you were the first doler i was worried about with your clan I have had abuse yelled at me this week, and a woman running over to stop her offlead dog saying hello to my onlead bt as i have a dangerous dog with lockjaw. I really am unhappy out walking atm
-
I heard it was illegal too, but there are at least 6 people i see everyday round here who do it on the paths. One guy has a BC each side of his bike and really goes fast :D I would love to do it, but my BT hardly breaks out of a plod

Unable To Keep Dog Thats Under A Contract
juice replied to pinkpuppy's topic in General Dog Discussion
So let me get this straight, you paid a deposit, then really didn't want her, as you did research AFTER choosing the breed ,even though you claim to be a breeder, so should know better. So you only took the dog so you didn't lose your deposit? You are threatening to put it on the trading post. You expect the breeder to give you money back for your mistakes? Are you for real? You wonder why no one is being sympathetic, read your posts, you come over as not caring and money grabbing. And no, i am not a breeder and don't think the sun shines out of all of them but you take the cake. Ring the breeder or rehome her desexed so she doesn't end up in the wrong hands......again. Which breed will you pick next, as you seem to be going through a few -
So sorry, dallys are special, we are lucky to have known that. Take care, always here if you are passing and need a dally fix.

Council Shocked As Dog Owners Offer Pit Bulls For Death
juice replied to silentchild's topic in In The News
Slightly ot, but does anyone have any accurate up to date stats on which breeds are highest for dog bites? I had a lady run over to me yesterday to shoo away her dog from my BT ( who was onlead), she told me my BT had lockjaw and was dangerous, as she had been hearing lots on the news. I did say she didn't seem bothered about her dog saying hello to my cattle dog, who was more likely to take offence to her dog rushing upto him, but she wouldn't have it. I could really do with a good factual comeback! -
Back ot,if you work from home you have to learn to be firmer. I have had the same problem hairdressing from home, clients rock up and expect me to drop everything. I have days and times when i work, they make an appt, and i don't budge! I have had people turn up on a sunday when i was having lunch with rellies and after still telling them that, they asked again if i could do it Don't let them push you around,or they will try it everytime.( and its always the ones with kids who trash the place when they come, or winge about the price etc)

Love the first link Ready Set The rolled and decorated collar is gorgeous! I use Regalhounddesign too, i have a chain martingale for my dally, really lovely. My bully tends to slip out of her collar when she abrutly stops, so i looked at sighthound ones too.
-
Still a cattle and a BT, but no more dallys, far too much walking required A grey is on my list.
-
I felt sick when i saw it this morning too. God help anyone with a tan coloured staffy x Pounds will be overflowing i reckon with dumped dogs, and people will start moving them out of area.

Thanks, think i may stick with Panalog then. She had the tear test done, it was 3 and 4 before the meds, and after was 9 and 12 ,so much better. She still gets cream gunk some days, had to pull a load out today. I beleive her line is prone to dry eye.

I would always go adult over pup, too much gets destroyed and i am over it I got my 3 year old girl from a breeder, she had had 2 litters, and not done well, so she needed a pet home. Downside, she was a kennel dog, didn't know how to walk on lead, gets very excited when she meets new dogs, food aggro, and mouthy.( and eats poo. ) However all these i am working on, and don't regret having her at all, but she came from interstate, next time i would prefer to see what i am getting first i think. Have you considered a grey? sounds like a good match for you. I also changed her name, didn't like it, and she didn't know it.
-
Yes, she has been diagnosed. She is on Panalog twice a day, but the tube costs $39, and only lasts 2 weeks. Won't try anything without asking the vet first.

Just wondering about this? I know when i used to use jointguard someone asked me why i didn't use the human equivilant, but read somewhere that dogs couldn't absorb it as well. So, my BT has dry eye, and i was watching tv ads the other night and saw an add for drops for dry eye, and wondered wether i could use the human ones? I know that dog meds are really expensive, no idea about the human dry eyes drops, but did get me thinking. i have used human cough medicine on pound dogs who came with kc, worked a treat, and antihistamines.

I put Boston too. i agree, alot of the staffy's could have been badly bred pure ones, not crosses, was so hard to tell.
-
It said if you put 'don't know" it was if you didn't know if it was a purebred or not. I knew they were crosses, just no clue with some what they were,so didn't put don't know. The one on the beach looked like a right mix. Some could have been badly bred pure too. very hard!

I feed Advance. I tried Artemis, and mine were all starving on it. I have a BT who is prone to skin allergies, and a dally who has stones, they had this food in kennels while i was away, with raw, necks and wings, and after being away a month they looked brilliant on it, so stuck with it! You get a free bag after 10 purchases, which makes it very reasonable.

Let them meet on a walk, nuetral territory, and walk them alongside each other. Tire them out, then go home. Makes it all more relaxed. Get a crate, for either to relax in. Being young still the poodle maybe very happy to have a buddy, if she tells him off for being too full on, thats fine too, he has to learn doggy manners. Just watch and try and relax, could be fine.
