  1. Yep, alot of byb can't get rid of whole litters, and will dump the rest. There are a few GSD rescue's, tell her by the time she gets a free pup and pays for its vet work it will have cost her more than getting one from rescue where they will know its temp etc.
  2. If you have an old dog just make sure it has somewhere to get away from the new puppy, its not fair to subject an old chook to sharp toothed pups with no manners.
  3. He only gets half a tablet with his dinner, he is still dropping his shoulder slightly, and still sways at the back, but no where near as bad as he was without it. I could try every other day. He was fine last night, no poop this morning, but will see what his poo is like when we go out before calling the vet. I have also changed their dog food 2/3 weeks ago, and have noticed the other 2 dogs poop is not as solid as before anyway, so wondering if that is a factor too. They all go to kennels friday for a month , so will talk to the lady who is great, she also uses my vet and tell her to stop using it if he continues to get upset tum, although she uses a different dogfood to me( advance), so will see if that helps.
  4. Thanks, will call the vet, sometimes he does have an upset tum if he has eaten some leftovers food where we walk, people leave all sortS by the lake, rice and meat, so i thought he must have eaten something i hadn't seen.
  5. My dally was prescribed Mobic for his constant limping, we had an x -ray, nothing apart from the fine lines where he had previously broken 2 toes. He is arthritic in his hips aswell, he is 10. He literally could hardly put any weight on one foot after he had been laying down for any period of time. The mobic worked straight away, so i was really pleased. The vet gave me enough for 10 days, so after that i bought a whole box of it, however after being on it for 2 weeks he has had runny diohrea for the last 2 days( woke up to it all over the dining room this morning! ). I know the side effects could be an upset tum, but thought it would have shown earlier, now i am wondering if i will have to stop using it, or wether it will settle down. Going to see how he is tonight( although his smelly farts so far tonight don't fill me with much hope!), have got newspaper ready. Has anyone else used it?
  6. I know what you mean about reading ingredients, i was given a bag of Proplan, and mine did well on it, less poo etc.( had previously been feeding optinum) so then i decided to look at all the top foods and ingredients, Artemis came out my fav, but have to say, they have all been on it for 3 weeks now, and the poo's are more and not solid, and my dally is acting like he is starved all the time, picking up anything remotely edible on the walks.Yet the ingredients in it look great, i see corn is high up on the Proplan list ,so put me off. Now i don't know what to think, Nutro was the other one i liked the look of.
  7. Good rescue's desex all their pups before they go out, i have had many very young pups done, plus we homecheck new owners, amazing what you find out when you actually visit their place. ;) I have a BT from a breeder, she was used to breed from twice, but desexed before i got her, so the line could not be used, i have no problem with that at all, in fact i was happy it was all done.
  8. Both, they get at least an hour every morning when the kids have gone to school, mostly offlead . Then 45mins to hr around 5ish , much later in summer. can go for hours if i meet lots of people and stop for a chat
  9. we have 3 people round here i regularly see with bikes and dogs, they have the attachment that fits to the bike so the dog doesn't get run over by the bike. one guy has 2 bc's one each side and he goes really fast along the pavements. other 2 i see are huskie's.
  10. dogmad knows someone good who house sits.
  11. I came here 12 years ago, and left my 2 behind aswell. One dog was very old and on daily meds for incontenance, he was a rescue i had had since he was 12 weeks old, the rescue would have taken him back, but they said in reality he wouldn't get a home, and it was kinder to give him his wings, it was the hardest thing we did. My other dog was an ageing BT, who my neighbour and good friend adored, and often took out for the day with him, he asked if he could have her, and she lived another 18 months before her health got the better of her. I didn't have the money to bring them over, and secondly my vet said neither were well enough for him to sign the papers to let them travel that far.
  12. Agreed Probably one of those "they will sort it out" ones.
  13. He may not actually be starting the fights, can you read the body language? Although he could be 'finishing" them. We have a young entire male bc/mal around here, who was fine, but now other dogs are seeing him as a threat, and he is getting into fights Perhaps suggest to him that other dogs are no longer giving him the "puppy ' leeway anymore, and see him differently.
  14. Great to hear its all going well, can we have pics soon
  15. I would keep the pups on what they are used to, just buy a smaller bag, and see how they go. Food is a personal preference, i was recently given Proplan and Eukanuba, 2 turned their noses up at the Euk, and more poo's. I have this week started them all on Artemis to see how they go, reading ingredients, and what is good and bad can make your head explode However ,my lot are off to kennels for a month soon and they feed Advance, so will be interesitng to see how they go.
  16. A bale of hay? My BT has her crazy time around 4pm, she drags her bed onto the lawn and tries to shred it, i have discovered if i cover it with a fleece throw and tuck it in she doesn't do it, must not like the taste of fleece
  17. As others have said, food maybe the cause if he can't hold on. Also agree, put him in a tiled smaller area, with lots of soft warm bedding. If its a behavoir issue, contact K9 Pro.
  18. Can you ring the vets in the area? a 3 legged coolie is not hard to forget. Feel for you, must be such a worry not knowing how one of your babies are.
  19. My dally and wei were a very formidable rabbiting team, eaten many for breakfast So either would suit. My cattle won't chase bunnie's, even when they run straight past him to get away from the dally
  20. my new one arrived from the USA yesterday, "Regal hounds design, really lovely, going to get the other 2 one now.
  21. If they already get on fine, i don't see what the problem is, except to be ready when she decides to be boss, that he doesn't mind. Staffy's play rough, i have a BT, and finding a friend is hard as they do like to play very rough, suggesting a pug or cav is the most stupid idea i have heard I would be inclined to give it a go, they sound well matched. just be careful feeding close toghter till you know her better.
  22. Don't disregard the BT, i have owned many, and not one was dodgy with other dogs I recently got a 3 year old female from a breeder, and my criteria was it had to be good with other dogs, i have another 2 dogs ,and kids, and we meet lots of dogs. She is perfect, she has had 2 dogs rush at her and have a go ,and just stood there. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the breeder again, ( they are looking for pet homes for 2 atm ;) ) I aso second getting a black grey, wearing a muzzle puts people off for a start lovely dogs. My wei used to be imposing too, but must admit they don't look the same with a full tail. I walk a gsd, and a couple of rotties sometimes, and they certainly make people cross the road Cattle dog?
