  1. My dogs live ouside, and i find Tutzleworms post offensive, pull your head in ! :D I come from the uk, had all my dogs inside there. I agree, certain dogs need to be inside. I am a single mum ,and have kids, and i can't supervise 24/7, i also work from home. My dogs live a great life, an hour twice a day offlead walks, they can see me from every room in the hous (yep, even the loo ). I am outside alot, and so are my kids. For everyone's well being they live outside, perhaps when i am older and have no kids around they may come in.

    Zoe

so sorry, a great ambassador she was too. ;)
  3. A good website doesn't mean 'flashy". I recently bought a mature dog from a breeder, and studying the website gave me an indication of the type of dog, etc. Some i looked at i wouldn't touch ,just on the look of the website and how they described their dogs.

    Flies

We have them really badly this year, and i have tried, Lanaloin, vasaline, dettol cream, fly strips hanging, Aroguard, horse fly repellant.Nothing is working. I hose down the patio every few days, but my dogs are covered, they drew blood on me too the other day! Looks like the fly traps are the next move!
  6. Well i gave my dally 'xanox' from the vet for the first time last night, and it had no effect whatsover :D Is it valium or ace? We had them going off really close last night, him and my cattle were petrified, so i brought them in with me to watch braveheart . My new bt girl was fast asleep outside on her bed, legs in air , not at all fazed The other 2 stayed in all night, but one cowered and panted, and my dally paced and barked.
  7. I would ring the kennels first, so they then can't say a few days down the track it happened at home after they left. Then i would rest him for a few days.
  8. Staying at home with mine too, darn family up the road set them off every year outside the front of their house Can go on for hours round here. I let my dally sleep inside, but he just barks and keeps us all awake, i had thought of sedating him, but think it might make him more scared? Anyone find it helps?
  9. I was of the same mindset as you years ago, my dally is friendly ,so i couldn't see what the problem was when he went up to say hello to other dogs. I got told off once by a guy with a mini shnauzer, who kicked my boy when he approached, he said " i don't know he is friendly' Good point! i hadn't thought of it that way before. I am now the opposite, they all get put back on lead when another dog appears, and only allowed to socialise if both parties want to. In fact i now get p#ssed off if a dog rush's us
  10. Being ,"interviewed ' is hard! I recently wanted an older dog to join mine, and i found it quiet a minefield to navigate. Most of my dogs have come through rescue, so it was all a new ball game, i was the one having to convince a breeder i was good enough for an older bitch.! I nearly gave up, felt a bit intimidated, until a lovely doler pm'd me and helped me find the right dog. Stick with it, is my advice, if someone wants you to have a pup with no questions asked about you, i would not choose them, its hard being put through the ringer, but worth it, my new girl is everything i could have wanted, and a breeder who would take her back anytime if needed to.
  11. I think it is safe to say the old owner doesn't want her. I would take her to the vet, to check for a chip anyway, and also to see how big the pups are. Do you know what the other 3 dogs she had were? so you can hazard a guess as to the size of the pups. I wouldn't dream or attempting to rear a litter, i think you are in over your head, and can only see the small cute puppy image You need to realise what you are in for. Personally, i would hand her over to a rescue, then adopt her back afterwards, or abort them now.
  12. Thats what wellies, and raincoats are for. Mine still go out no matter what the weather, they don't care, in fact its better, no one else about
  13. I am interested if anyone has had warts removed from their dogs and how? I see they can be frozen off with several visits, but also there seem to be a few recipes for alternative methods. Has anyone done either way, and was it successful? My girl has several on her paws, one of which is causing her to limp.
  14. I have a freind who owns a Bb, he is much taller than i expected, and actually very fit, although i can still hear him comming from 2 houses up However, there is a guy round the corner from me who has 4, what i thought were Bb's, but got talking to him and they are aussie's.He breeds them he says. They are shorter than the bb i know, and not so well put togther, so its very confusing!
  15. He doesn't do it for me at all :D We used to have a show like this years ago in the uk, the guy was really cool, his brothers and dads were vets, and he really got his hands dirty ( up cows bums alot :D ). I think he then went on to work in Africa. I really liked it, as it was real.
  16. I agree, he has been doing this show long enough to know the way they are portraying him, yet he continue's to allow it to happen, his choice. Sure he gets well paid for looking a prat.
  17. I stopped watching it weeks ago when they did the pitbull bashing ( which they never replied to my complaint). I prefer watching Gene Simmons on the other channel. My vet is very nice, makes me go all stupid and girly everytime i see him
  18. I have a client/friend who would like a lab puppy. They have waited a long time, they have been renovating their house, and wanted to wait till all the fences were redone, and under the house was sealed off. So today she ask's me what should she look for in a pup. I know labs suffer from HD, so what should i tell her? What is a good hip score to look for? What else should i tell her to check? She has a 7 year old son, very gentle boy who is dying for a dog too. They would like a yellow or choc one, and are happy to wait, in fact she was surprised when i told her she should start looking straight away as pups are often sold before they are born. She lives in sydney near me. Any advice on breeders would be much appreciated.
  19. Our vets sell muzzles, coats and collars, as most of the clients are greyhound trainers i reckon. Quakers hill vet, Burdekin road.
  20. I feel the same, would offer in a heartbeat, but my place is not suitable either for them. I would be jumping at Clyde's offer
  21. i would have given him what for, what a tool i was in a petshop in the states once, and there was a family asking how big the basset pup would grow, she said they were really small dogs
  22. I spoke to my vet today, my two are just comming upto 2 years since they were done. He thinks they should be vaccinated every 2 years. The tt is $130, so its alot to spend if they then do need vaccs.
  23. Shnauzer? Bull Terrier, mine have all been very lazy and easy going, and are great with kids, but you love them or hate them normally :D
  24. does the tt give a level of cover? as in, what if it comes back as covered ,but say a week later its run out, so you would go for almost a year not realising your not covered. or does it show the level so you know it will last another year?
