Thanks, was thinking of the sweater for my BT, mine live outside, and she has come from living at a breeders kennel in Victoria, so she is used to being out. Mine all have loads of coats, but i only have one lightweight Weatherbeeta cotton coat that would fit her, which would be fine as a day coat. Is the Great North one too cumbursome to sleep in do you think? Was thinking of the sweater, with the weatherbeeta over the top at night. I also couldn't proceed to checkout on the 2 puppies site, as my computer threw a hissy and said it was not a safe site?

The chilly coats look great, love the way they do up round chest for movement, has anyone got one?

The dogs in rescue on dol are not safe! They are all on death row, and many never make it out alive

Trying To Find Bulldog Puppies For Sale , For A Friend
juice replied to staffylover's topic in General Dog Discussion
How about getting a mature one? I have a freind who wanted one for ages, got to know a breeder, and then one of her pups was comming back, owners were moving into a unit, and she recommended my friend, he got an eight month old lovely boy for nothing. And the breeder has been great back up for him, he goes there when my frind works away. I recently bought a mature dog from a breeder too, just didn't want a pup, and didn't have the price tag money either for one, its a great way of getting a well bred dog from great breeders. -
How Many Of Your Dogs Do You Walk At Once?
juice replied to snow_wolf's topic in General Dog Discussion
All three together, on seperate leads, everyone knows their spot ( well my new BT is still learning that walking in front of mum gets her cross and she gets kneed in the side). -
I have 4 kennels around my place, but they only ever use the ones that look right into the house and door, same with the beds, i position them so they can see inside all the time.As far as hair goes, i sweep my patio area down every day, then slosh it lightly with water and white vinegar. Every couple of weeks i hose the whole lot down, kennels beds etc. I like my place clean and fresh all the time, and keeps flies away too. Some dogs just prefer concrete to lay on, i had a foster who would never go in a kennel no matter what i did! How about a dogbed near the back door?

Thought i might apply, but my dally is too old apparently, and although my Bt is rock solid i reckon they would turn me down on breed ;)

Your Experience With Registered Breeders
juice replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I nearly gave up trying to get a mature dog from breeders, until a lovely doler stepped in and helped me. After being in rescue a while i wanted a well bred dog, but after sending emails out to breeders whose dogs i liked, i got zilch in response. I found it all very intimidating, i have a perfect girl now in my gang, but it was like getting blood from a stone initially talking to the breeder! I wouldn't hesitate to use the same breeder again, as my girl is wonderful, and hopefully next time i may get more than "yes", and "no," to my questions now they know me :D -
Only just saw this too, so sorry he has gone. Big hugs to you.

I recently got a new adult dog too, and i much prefer it. I didn't want a pup jumping all over my now mature dally, i didn't want my place trashed etc, after having years of foster pups i was over it I did the same, i found a mature dog from a breeder, and she is a gem. However, having been a kennel dog, she was rubbish at walking on the lead, she just stood in front of me and stopped, it took a while for her to realise going for a walk was fun, now there is no stopping her. I don't think i will ever get a pup again, with a mature dog you can match them to your lifestyle, you know exactly what you are getting, i love it!

So what are you doing here Mervin, you obviously don't take dog ownership very seriously, or is school not back yet Perhaps a trip to the pound and watching the dogs being given the green dream will make you wake up to how bad misinformation can be,( holds my tongue, as not worth the warning).

I wonder if he actually does any vet work these days, or is he too busy attempting to be an untrained dog behavoirist instead, rolling in the bucks I really can't see how he can defend himself this time, it was awful, and that petshop got a huge plug! I reckon the staffy will be a nighmare, that aggro already at that age
-
It was pretty gringe worthy. The staffy ruled the roost and did whatever it wanted, and Chris gave it a b+ at the end Then there was the gsd being throttled by that kid in the street, the staffy in a fight. And all the expensive dog beds he took them to buy. I always tell people to buy cheap beds to start with, as the will get destroyed! Leaving food down all night too, whats with that? I missed the start, did they do a good bit about getting the other 2 from breeders? or was it bad?

Relationship Between Dog Size, Yard Size And Exercise?
juice replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
2 medium, 1 large. 460sqm block, but big house on it and pool! walked twice a day, without fail, for about an hour each time, mostly offlead. :D -
Well done zed! Did she get all her stock out? Feel helpless so far away too

I would avoid dog parks too, most are full of idiots who let their dogs run riot and can't read body language. I live near you, i walk mine at Glenwood on huge oval near the lake late mornings when no one is around, and evenings, although bit busy then. What sort of dog do you have? entire? how is he/she around aother dogs atm? Mine are very sociable, and avoid conflict, but one herds, and the other one is in your face play, and the old guy just ignores everyone while rabbiting. We could possibly meet up if they are suited.

I have white vinegar and water in a watering can which i sprinkle on the patio everyday, i also have 2 of the bottle type fly traps hanging up. But mine don't poo on the patio anyway, they go on the lawn round the corner. What i have noticed though is since last week when the whole house and yard was sprayed by pest control the flies are far less, hope it lasts!

What Products And Brands For An Online Pet Accessories Site
juice replied to heroeswit's topic in General Dog Discussion
Leather leads and collars for bigger dogs, love ruthless ones, but with 3 big dogs they are way over my budget. I buy my flea stuff online as its cheaper. Mine wear rogz collars, and only found one place round here that stock them, and have just had to order a large pink one as they don't hold everything. -
My wei would have tried to kill the chooks and bunnie's, in fact anything small and fluffy that moved! Sounds like a good home for all the breeds. Dogmad knows of a 2 year old wei just been surrendered looking for a new home

I agree, Australia is not at all dog friendly, i had forgotten how bad it was here, till iwent back to the UK last year, dogs in parks playing with kids offlead, having picnics, dogs in pubs, at the shops. We are very anti dog here, i get sick of people screaming and running a mile, you'd think i was walking tigers by the reaction round here
-
Actually i have fish aswell I think a blanket statement that those that keep their dogs outside shouldn't have one is unfair, its like saying owners who treat their dogs like babies shouldn't have any either. I think it is fair to assume most poeple on here meet their dogs needs, wether in side or out, and its just a personal preference with their lifestyle that works for them and shouldn't be judged. i agree many people keep dogs outside and never bother with them, but alot get more stimulation , and care than dogs left alone for 10/12hrs a day cooped up inside.

I use Quakers too, , but only see Blair. Its used by alot of greyhound trainers, i like his no nonsense hands on approach. 'Rappie' on here always gives great advice too, she is in parramatta.
