  1. Ellz, I believe you have good intentions and were only trying to help. It's such a shame when someone gets beaten down for trying to help someone out
  2. I also love little Elbie. I look for posts on him
  3. At my parents, our Rotty, Bearded Collie and cat all get along swimmingly. A friend of mine has a staffy and a cat, and they seem to get along fine. Annndd.. the only other one I can think of is another friend of mine who has 2 cats, a GR and a BC and they all get along fine too. I've got 2 cats at the moment and when I get my puppy I know one of the cats will freak out at first, but I reckon she'll get use to the idea. She was pissed when we first brought home our second cat, but within about 2-3 days she was fine. They're now best of friends.
  4. Ouch. What a horrible day! I reckon whatever happens today, has got to be better than yesterday.
  5. :D Definately. And usually she does it in front of a Crowd! ;) Which makes your sig very appropriate!
  6. I don't know sorry. Maybe if you post me some pics of your gorgeous Akita I might be able to help more? (I'm searching for an Akita myself) I have heard that Akita's are more likely to be aggressive with dogs of the same sex?
  7. Cheers, thanks for that Sammie. That one would actually be closer to us!
  8. Sorry to crash this thread, but I'm also considering finding a new vet in Brisbane. I'm on the Southside. I've been going to Green Cross at Moorooka as that is the vet my OH used to use when he was living at his parents (and I'm originally from the Northside). While each time I've been there the vets have been lovely (Don't think I've ever seen the same one twice though..) I find them really expensive and all of the reception staff are really rude. I'd like to find somewhere a bit more friendly and personal, and more affordable if possible.
  9. Aussies are gorgeous! Hopefully one day I'll have an Aussie too. (Though if I really could, my whole house would be a zoo! )
  10. 6 weeks to go for me!! I selected one yesterday, so gorgeous! What are you thinking of getting?? ;) An Akita. I'm on the waiting list for one due around Nov/Dec, but I was hoping to register my interest with another breeder so that I don't wait 5 months and end up disappointed if for some reason I don't get a pup. Unfortunately they're hard to come by in Qld. (Even the breeder I'm waiting on is in SA)
  11. Oh Dwilds, she's gorgeous!! She's going to be a very beautiful Shepherd
  12. Never had any humpers, but I wouldn't allow it. It's inappropriate, not to mention embarrassing!
  13. Hmm neither have I actually. They do seem lovely though.
  14. Very exciting Ex, hope the next month flies by for you! Desperately trying to chase down a pup myself
  15. NSW i agree with you but i am sick of the news only reporting on pitbull attacks what happens to the other breeds? Owners need to be held responsible and if you have a dangerous dog then precautions need to be made to keep other people and animals safe. Owners know the temperment of their animals and should take the measures to keep everything safe. Not to defend articles like this, but it never mentioned pit bulls, and there were other breeds mentioned. The correlation between dog attacks that appear in the news, and ones that don't, are related to the damage/potential damage caused by that animal. I imagine that a bite from a SWF would cause minimal damage and would be hardly worth telling anyone about. On the other hand, if my rotty were to turn on me, I wouldn't stand a chance. I think it's pretty obvious why we generally hear more about bigger dogs in the media. However, cute and cuddlies have been known to make it in too: http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/nationa...o-1225791011876
  16. Uh oh. Irresponsible enough to get another dog after giving away the others due to not being able to care for them. But a husky, of all the dogs to get now! I really hope she comes to her senses
  17. I genuinely feel so sorry for the poor dog. And not just because it has/had a sore leg.
  18. Hmm that's a good question. I suppose I've never really thought about something like that. Granted, neither OH or I have wills just yet. Will arrange that once we get married next May. I don't have my dog yet, but I imagine my parents would look after it. They do have 2 dogs at the moment, so their circumstances at the time would definitely depend on whether they would be able to look after our dog should anything happen to us.
  19. Hmm off the top of my head 1. Akita 2. Siberian Husky 3. Alaskan Malamute 4. Finnish Lapphund 5. Australian Shepherd 6. Border Collie 7. Shiba ETA And Samoyed to that list. Most of the spitz's really That's all I can think of
  20. First dog that it recommended for me that I would actually consider came in at 43!
  21. Hi Ishy I started this thread a few days ago: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=201491 Got a few good recommendations in there for some puppy training Brisbane/towards the GC
